I saw a young woman asking a question of the Prez and then asking if she could shake his hand; then there was a guy who suggested to the Prez to have a small debt-ceiling raise now and do the rest after 2012 because they will have thrown the hooligans out of Congress! I got a chuckle out of those two…

Anyone notice from last night’s MSNBC shows that the VA Governor early on was against raising the deficit until it came to his attention that VA would be among the first five states to suffer the most if it wasn’t raised. Now he is doing air time speeches about the importance of raising the debt ceiling. I wonder if he could talk to Eric Cantor about that?

That governor illustrates so clearly what is wrong with today’s Republican party. They just don’t know what they are talking about in most cases. They strike a position that they think will hurt or just oppose the President without doing any researching on how that position would play out in the real world. So they say NO to raising the debt ceiling even though everyone tells them it would be disastrous until it is finally pointed out to them how they personally will be affected adversely.
Well, when they “balance” their budget with smoke, mirrors and accounting gimmicks (and in Perry’s case, BILLIONS of FED money…he hates the feds SO much) when the rubber has to finally meet the road…well….maybe we DO NEED TO RAISE THE DEBT CEILING because the amount they would have to pay for everything would go WAY UP! They are so pathetic and predictable.

In our country, minority groups tend to dominate the lowest economic segments of our society. Not all minority members are economically disadvantaged nor are all economically disadvantaged people minorities, but the lowest rungs of the social ladder do tend to be heavily minority. In a recession it is the lowest levels that suffer first, most and longest. Therefor when a recession hangs on like this one, that minority overrepresentation among the poorest, makes the averages for those groups fall. The republicans know this and they also know that they are the ones who brought about the pain, but they are trying to place the blame for their own disasters onto the President by using those statistics, which do show losses for minority communities due to the recession, and twisting them to say that it is his fault and his policies that caused the losses. It is up to us to keep pointing out what is behind the losses, what is being done and by whom to help reverse them and what policies caused them and who is still advocating those polilcies.

I knew that Obama would follow through on getting DADT repeal finalized, yet I thought it would take longer. It’s truly excellent news.

The reason Keynesian economics work is that if you choose the right way to stimulate the economy all will come back because the money is spent locally – i.e. to buy things from American businesses.
It is largely because minorities tend to have the smallest share of the nation’s wealth; and tend to be poorly represented in the business and political elite classes. They are usually the last to be hired, and the first to be hired. They are the least likely to get a promotion and a raise or a bonus. Usually, minority groups have the least concentration of wealth hence, in the event of a recession, they are likely to experience hard times. Many tend to rent rather than own homes of their own and, as you can see from the recent Housing mortgage scam, minorities were rail-roaded with a promise of owning a home only to end up under water.
So, when the recession end as it just did, mostly Wall-street business elites are still sitting on the money, raking in profits but still refusing to hire–mainly minorities–racial, gender too, this should include students –until they extract more favors from the administration–read the expiration of the Bush tax cuts or their dislike of the Consumer protection Bureau that MS Warren just helped create.
Lastly, minorities do not have and cannot afford expensive lobbyists to lobby congress on their behalf. This should explain why so many good job bills the Prez sent to Congress were simply ignored because Congress was listening to Wallstreet Lobbyists. As a result many construction, custodial and maintainence jobs where minorities are most represented have not been created yet…you must have heard the PreZ beg Congress to move on building America’s infrastructure to employ those laid off after the meltdown in Housing or Home construction…
Thanks to the House Republicans that would not put forth a jobs bill, denied extending unemployment for the first time and now the debt ceiling which will hurt everyone.

But one thing I do know is that Republicans in Congress don’t give a whit for minority community of the ppor in general. So, if any one of them is complaining about those communities suffering, they are the ones that want to cut every social programs that helps the poor.

Cutting Waste: A data center the size of 3.5 football fields
Just as our cell phones and computers have gotten progressively more efficient over the past decade, so too have data servers. Unfortunately, rather than following the private sector’s lead of shrinking the size and number of the facilities used to house the computers that store their data, agencies have gone in the opposite direction. Between 1998 and 2010, the Federal government quadrupled the number of data centers we operate.
Earlier this week, as part of the President’s Campaign to Cut Waste, we announced that in 2012, we will shut down 178 data centers, bringing us to a total of 373 data centers that will be shut down by the end of 2012. This includes the 195 data centers previously announced to be closed in 2011, 81 of which have already been shut down this year.
This represents substantial progress towards our goal of shutting down more than 800 data centers by 2015, a move that is expected to save taxpayers more than $3 billion.
The data centers being added to the shut down list today are scattered across about 30 states and range from a 195,000 sq ft Department of Homeland Security facility in Alabama (roughly the size of a 3 and a half football fields) to four Department of Agriculture data centers in the same zip code, each of which is less than 1,000 square feet.

By shrinking our data center footprint we will save taxpayer dollars, cutting costs for infrastructure, real estate and energy, and at the same time, moving to a more nimble 21st century model.

Cutting Waste: A data center the size of 3.5 football fields
Just as our cell phones and computers have gotten progressively more efficient over the past decade, so too have data servers. Unfortunately, rather than following the private sector’s lead of shrinking the size and number of the facilities used to house the computers that store their data, agencies have gone in the opposite direction. Between 1998 and 2010, the Federal government quadrupled the number of data centers we operate.
Earlier this week, as part of the President’s Campaign to Cut Waste, we announced that in 2012, we will shut down 178 data centers, bringing us to a total of 373 data centers that will be shut down by the end of 2012. This includes the 195 data centers previously announced to be closed in 2011, 81 of which have already been shut down this year.
This represents substantial progress towards our goal of shutting down more than 800 data centers by 2015, a move that is expected to save taxpayers more than $3 billion.
The data centers being added to the shut down list today are scattered across about 30 states and range from a 195,000 sq ft Department of Homeland Security facility in Alabama (roughly the size of a 3 and a half football fields) to four Department of Agriculture data centers in the same zip code, each of which is less than 1,000 square feet.

By shrinking our data center footprint we will save taxpayer dollars, cutting costs for infrastructure, real estate and energy, and at the same time, moving to a more nimble 21st century model.
