  1. Photographs do exceed words in the realm of history and perhaps in showing what was there. Of course it is the photographer who selects what of what is there, and the photographer who emphasizes and trivializes elements of what is there. But, although a photograph can be doctored or tossed–it pretty much shows what was there at a given moment.

    These photos show various facets of my hero–I love them all. Jill
