  1. Absolutely favor this legislation.

As a professor who teaches health policy, I’ve studied and had my students study the historical journey of health reform in all its interations and proposals from FDR to BHO.
I’ve also taken them on a global journey to explore health indicators around the world in order to put our system and health outcomes in proper perspective…Americans tend to be quite myopic in their views of the world and of the US in relation to that world.
Discoveries of the amount of $$ spent on health care, continued limited access to adequate care for many, continued and in some instances growing disparities across population segments, greed of insurers, inefficiencies in health systems and so on were revealing to students. On the positive side, opportunities to make a difference in health systems development and improvements were eye openers as well. This president took a very personal pain and transformed it into the first steps of assuring that all Americans are covered for basic care, receive better quality care, and have options for a improved life. The naysayers, were they not privileged should be careful…you may one day need this…never say never.

  2. Maybe you guys can help-I recently contacted a private insurance company to change my Health insurance I had thru the state Gov. for 30 years. It had increased from $600 to $1000 in 2 years and I realized with the new Health Care it will only increase.I settled on a major medical plan that provided better coverage and at a cost $300 dollars a month less. After a month of getting the new insurance company all my records and medical problems,I received a letter from them that my 2 replaced hips will not be covered,my wifes bladder problem won’t be covered, etc. My wife and I take BP meds and cholestral meds and which meant we would only save $100 dollars a month on the new insurance. But we will insure you and your wife.

I thought Obama care made these insurance companies cover pre existing conditions. The insurance company said not until 2014.
I lose my choice by default, I can’t get my pre-existing conditions covered and I am forced to pay $1200 a month more plus the 10 to 20% the state will raise my insurance next year. This is for real and is something I had no idea was in this bill- Did you folks? I’m not complaining, I just don’t think we know whats in this bill and it’s benefits.I do know that I have at least 2 years where the new Health plan will cost me $300 to $400 a month more with less coverage.
Why not dump Obama care and put in a single payer plan.

  3. Thank you for health care reform. Now I no longer lie awake at night worrying that my adult daughter, who graduated from college, but is unemployed (so far) had no health care coverage. Thanks to the new law, she is back on our plan as she had been until graduation. I can sleep easier. I am hopeful that your continued efforts on the economic front will also yield results in more job opportunities and she will be able to secure good employment before she turns 26. Keep fighting for us. Even though the news makes it sound like everyone is against you, I for 1 have been for you. It is such a relief to know that a grown-up, who makes measured decisions based on the facts, even when those decisions are not popular, is running the store again.

  4. Mr. Rudio: Please visit the website Healthcare.gov. There may be information on this site that may be helpful to you. Currently, there is a pre-existing health insurance plan that is available but you have to be uninsured for at least 6 months. As to your current plan, most insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions for a year from the date of enrollment and then those conditions are covered. Is that your situation or will you never be covered for those conditions?
