Heads-Up:

President Obama Speaks at the National Council of La Raza Annual Conference: 12:50 ET.

  1. To my other democratic sisters and brothers this rant and proposal is not about dividing its about holding our officials accountable. Im Calling and tweeting ABout the CBC. either you support this president efforts or we will take support from you. President Obama has 88% support from the AA community and we want our voice heard from the representation we have in congress, we calling for the bashing to stop, the on air disrespect and the disrespect coming from the left. We will hold the dems hostage for not obeying our wishes. AA has supported the democratic party faithfully and all interest groups. Now its time to fight for our issues. Issues # 1 stop the disrespect coming from the left and right speak up or we will speak for better dems. Some CBC members has been in office for decades and now they want to jump on thr band wagon with the left. 2012 we can call for primaries of better dems. Enough is Enough !

  2. With Trump’s comments today and the willingness for the TBGOPers to defeat pres Obama than lift a hand, thus far, since Jan 20 1009, they had not done is telling.

Unfortunately, the media at large isn’t telling the story.

I have just heard form Ed Schultz’s show, blasting behind my back that the NYT has a well detailed piece on how $54B was borrowed right after the Bush tax cut was enacted. I wish the article can be added here and those who can tweet, would use that ability to help spread the news.

The teabaggers don’t want a deal. If I was in DC, I tell them; Forget You, the original version of Cee Lo Green’s song.

  3. GOP just have to find an excuse to turn it down. Now it will surely be “smoke and mirrors” but it will also be another example of them unable to say yes. It will further expose the GOP as not serious about the deficit, but rather wanted to create the drama and then use it to cut medicare and social security and protect tax cuts for the rich.

Reid needs to schedule a vote on it for tomorrow in order to keep the pressure up. Make the GOP block it with a 60-vote cloture demand or pass it on party lines and have the GOP vote against 2.7T in cuts with no revenues because they can’t say “yes” and really want drastic medicare and SS cuts.

I have a feeling it’s all going to come down to an oval office speech on August 1st at 8pm, so it will give President Obama more evidence how unserious the GOP really was about any agreement when he makes his case to the nation.

  4. Dems really needs to spell out that the increases to the debt ceiling is just making room for money congress already spent – it’s not new spending going forward. It’s the Lame Duck negotiated settlement, it’s the two wars, it’s the Bush Tax Cuts.

GOP agreed to all of this spending, but now want to attack Medicare and Social Security rather than raising revenues. It can’t be said enough.

President Obama needs to make another statement to reframe/reenforce the frame going into the final week.

  5. Oh, thx for the reminder. I clicked on the link right as POTUS was coming on stage. He seems to relaxed and confident; I can’t believe he thinks we will head to default.

    Lovely speech, btw.

  6. I just put a set of innovations into public domain can provide inexhaustible and effectively unlimited food, fuel and fertilizer, plus electricity if you have a natural-gas power plant, while pulling tons of carbon out of the atmosphere. You can read the invention for free on Amazon in the introduction (without buying it), or on my blog at Future Imperative (without a Kindle or Kindle-reading program). And by public domain — yes, I mean the concept itself now belongs to all of us, without restrictions. And yes, this set of methods can be “scaled up” to industrial production, “scaled down” to the village level, and is not a threat to farmers. (The food you get directly most people wouldn’t want to eat. But it offers huge indirect benefits to almost any form of food production.)

If you like what you read, feel free to email, Twitter and/or Facebook that link. Thanks.

  7. HI amk,

    Where’s the tax increases?πŸ˜‰ lol

    Is IMF a conservative/right-leanin’ organizationπŸ˜•

  8. I can’t believe people are not In DC. demonstrating…Not only is the GOP holding the American People hostage..they’re making sure that all fundraisers Birthday celebrations come to a full stop.

Wouldn’t it be nice to HAVE A BLOCK PARTY right in front the White House with signs that read READ “50 MORE”

Hope OFA routes the celebration to the white house:-)

  9. I think Reid’s plan doesn’t include entitlements. It does include the savings from the troops coming home. Repubs will scream but they used that too in the Ryan plan. How are they going to say”Buuuut you havent cut medicare and SS”> would look very nice as a campaign slogan.
Please dont forget the Bush Tax cuts as the ace in the hole.If they expire revenue will be raised.

  10. THERE JUST HAS TO BE A B’DAY CELEBRATION AT THE WHITE HOUSE! WE CAN ALL LIGHT CANDLES ON HIS B’DAY! DON’T FORGET! 50 AND HOLDING HIS OWN AND STILL ‘NIFTY!’

  11. FIRED UP…!!

    READY TO GO..!!!πŸ˜€

  12. I totally agree SR. As I said in a previous comment the goal all along was their way or the highway. Revenues or no revenues any deal that had the potential to benefit the American people and the economy was not going to be acceptable. We now have the specter of elected officials actively trying to bring down the government. When Boehner was whining about President Obama moving the goalposts (which was not true), we know he was just projecting.

  13. On a previous thread there was an article about GOP refuses to take yes for an answer.

here is a video clip of the President saying the same thing. spread it around.

  14. I think the GOP cat is out of the bag here when you combine two recent quotes first Boehner –

β€œHere’s the challenge,” he told his rank-and-file on a Sunday afternoon conference call, β€œTo stop [Obama], we need a vehicle that can pass in both houses.”

And then from Rep. Steve King –
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) sent out a tweet imploring followers to β€œSTOP talking about default. […] Obama would be impeached if he blocked debt payments.”

There it is – Boehner wants to get a bill to the President’s desk as ugly and with as deep cuts to entitlements as possible and then dare him not to sign it. They’ll use the 14th amendment to say PBO HAS to sign it or he’d be defaulting on America’s debts and thus impeachable.

This is what they’re after right now, and are no doubt working the back channels to try and peel off four Dem senators to vote for CCB or something like it. Sen Nelson and Manchin would be obvious targets, others potentially Landrieu, Pryor – offer them to jump parties and effectively become the majority, clear the deck of any primary challenges for Manchin and Nelson this cycle and Landrieu and Pryor in 2014.

  15. I think I read it on one of the blogs that what the GOP want more than ANYTHING in these negotiations is to cut Medicare and Medicaid so beat over PBO’s head in the upcoming election. Since Friday’s deal included revenue increases as well as cuts in M&M, was still a win for PBO in the eyes of Independents, the Dems would get over it. By rejecting Harry Reid’s deal because it does not include the cuts in M&M, nothing near and dear to hammer PBO on in the elections to the seniors. This is pure political on both sides, but more so on the GOP.

  16. I heard that Cenk’s blaming Al Sharpton for getting canned at MSNBC. I’m so glad to see Cenk leave even though I don’t watch much media anymore its still good to hear. I love to see that worm squirm like the fake liberal he is.

  17. You have an evil genius for gaming out the worst case scenario, which I appreciate it as it’s a trait I share. I think you’re right that this is what the House GOP wants. I just have to believe that the Conservadems in the Senate will stand united, if only because they can smell that the GOP is in terminal trouble. They are going to be blamed for anything that comes out ant slashes entitlements; even the Conservadems won’t be willing to slit their own throats that way. And, of course, there’s always the filibuster. But I don’t think it’ll get to that. All I can say is that the GOP’s treasonous behavior has sent my stress levels through the roof.

  18. REID TO UNVEIL DEBT LIMIT PROPOSAL: BOEHNER, REID WORK ON SEPARATE DEFICIT LEGISLATION…

SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID (D-NV) WILL HOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE this afternoon to unveil his proposal to lift the $14.3 trillion dollar debt ceiling. The Democratic proposal comes as talks broke down over the weekend and both Senator Reid and House Speaker John Beohner (R-OH) announced each would reveal separate proposals…

  23. SR, here’s a quote from a CSPAN article on the competing debt ceiling legislation, vis a vis Boehner’s version:

According to the AP, the Speaker supports a two-step process that lifts the debt ceiling for the remainder of this year and would require another Congress-approved increase next year. Speaker Boehner said the plan was not “Cut, Cap & Balance” — the deficit reduction plan passed in the House on Tuesday and killed in the Senate on Friday. The new plan is “going to require some of you to make some sacrifices,” he is reported to have cautioned his rank-and-file.

    A blink? A wink? A massive tic?

  24. Believe it or nor I’am an old man, but like Cee Loo Green Forget You my grand son pleyed the song for me. a little crazy it was fun My wife was not so happy. he.he. he..

  25. LL…if you use Twitter, can you please send that to Jon Kyl who is, as I type, spewing garbage on the Senate floor about this very thing!! Thanks.

  26. No, I don’t Tweet, I just follow some people online. John Kyl wants to do as much damage as he can before he sails off into a cushy life on Wall Street.

  27. Just saw on tv that neither Michelle Obama nor Dr. Jill Biden knew anything about Bin Laden raid until it was over. That secret was kept from them. Wow.

  28. Boehner’s latest tweet

POTUS wants a $2.4T blank check to get him through the next election, w/out cuts that exceed the hike

  29. It’s a rebrand of CCB to try and get the four Senate votes. Demint was crowing about being 4 votes shy on CCB on Sunday, so they might have moved a little left to try and win the support of four Dems, or made back room offers. We know Nelson’s vote is ultimately for sale, and that he’s desperate to stay in the Senate for one.

  30. So Boehner is admitting that this whole thing is really about Barack Obama, nothing to do with the deficit, debt, jobs or other problems facing this country. The GOP realizes that their current crop of presidential candidates (including Romney) don’t stand a chance in beating Obama come 2012. So all this talk about debt ceiling, and any other manufactured crisis or dirty trick/gimmick they engage in going forward is really about their morbid fear of seeing this President have second term.

  31. Now cuts have to exceed the hike? Also it’s not about the next election it’s about creating stability for the economy. The GOP is really projecting here, they want instability to keep companies from hiring.

  32. I detest that man. He even LOOKS like a creeper. Has done NOTHING for this state or this country…EVER. Can SOMEONE please Tweet that to Kyl? Thanks.

  33. Here is the plan Repugs must accept it as it is their ideas. No excuse for this. Shumer and Reid as candid as I have ever seen. Plan will go on the floor tonight.

  34. Yes, they are projecting – it’s they who are obsessively concerned about Obama’s re-election in 2012.

  35. Schumer is so mad at the media. It’s a good presser. The corporate media is bolstering the GOP at the nation’s peril.

  36. have never heard Harry Reid like this. he was funny, serious and cutting. Schumer was awesome. Called them out on all the points.

  37. Absolutely! That was not a complaint on my part, but instead just acknowledgement of what a great job they all did keeping this secret until it was over…especially from their wives. It was TOTALLY the right thing

  38. Senator Schumer schooled the press about the fact that things ARE NOT equal in the negotiations. You know the feckless and lazy media stenographers love to say BOTH SIDES DO IT. Well Senator Schumer make it clear to them that is not the case and they know it. The Democrats have comprised and the Republicans have said it is our way or the highway. There is no way to say things are equal on both sides. He made that abundantly clear.

Then Senator Schumer called out the 100 Tea Party members who are the tail wagging the dog. Senator Schumer wanted to know how it was possible that the caucus is not following the lead of their speaker. Those were two very good points to get made on camera. Schumer was visibly forceful and angry when making these comments. .

  39. snowbird, I was out of my seat. So proud of House Democrats and Senator Reid and Schumer. They were just fantastic.

I commented on another thread that these press conferences remind me of the Democratic women senators presser during the budget debate. It was the most amazing display of advocacy I have ever seen.

  40. Harry Reid has always been loyal, steady, trustworthy and true to the Democratic party and to the President despite what the PL says. He would never do anything behind this President’s back and he knows Senate procedure inside and out. He knows when he can win a vote and knows when he can’t. From what I can see he supports PBO’s valiant tries to get bi-partisanship back and get a Congress that really functions for the citizens. He is a man I really admire.

  41. thinkprogress ThinkProgress by theonlyadult
Harry Reid’s plan cuts $2.7T, Boehner’s plan cuts $1.2T. Which one will “fiscally conservative” Republicans support?

  42. I read someplace. can’t remember where, that repug presidential candidates were invited to speak at this NCLA conference and refused. Why on earth would someone who wants to be POTUS do that? They are truly insane.

  43. I thought Majority Leader Reid and Senator Schumer were outstanding. They looked like the adults. It was wonderful to watch them present the plan that meets all of the requirements in the GOP ransom note. It has really thrown them for a loop. What will they object to now??? What will be the next goalpost??

Also, the House Democrats were fantastic. They very effectively turned the debt ceiling/deficit reduction debate into A JOBS DEBATE. Every other member that spoke made sure to say that since the Republicans took the majority in the House there have been ZERO JOBS BILLS. Again, they looked like the adults.

  44. Because they plan on STEALING the election in 2012 – not relying on the proper way of election by the people for the people.

  45. Yes, this was a very good presser by Schumer and Reid and I applaud them for this. It’s time someone in the DEM party put the blame fairly and squarely where it belongs – on the Republican party, that inept speaker Boehner and his out of control Teaparty caucus, and the lazy media.

  46. Because most are bigots. All are scared they would get asked tough questions and they know Latinos won’t vote for them anyway, certainly not members of La Raza. We don’t really count in their world view.

  47. I certainly hope Latinos won’t vote for them. I also hope the voters are made aware of the fact that these bigots refused to even show up to give a speech.

  48. Hostile audience. Don’t want to get booed out of the room. It’s all about controlling their image right now so early in the primaries.

  49. This latest Reid/Schumer gambit is basically daring GOP to block it/vote it down. I think this is more about building a case that the President will take to the American people in an prime time oval office address August 2nd at around 9pm.

As long as Reid and Schumer believe they can hold their caucus strong against any Boehner bill than we’re ultimately at a stand-off that will lead to a default. I think the President could have something up his sleeve whereby he’ll exercise some power to unilaterally raise it – both as President and Commander-in-Chief.

There is a helluva case to be made – how it the debt ceiling was always raised cleanly under Democratic and Republican Presidents, he could quote Reagan on it, could point to the 130 GOP reps who voted to raise it cleanly under GWBush. He could then point out how the Dems gave the GOP exactly what they wanted – dollar for dollar match in cuts:raise ratio without any revenues and that wasn’t even good enough. That they were intent on forcing a default at all costs – even when given 100% of what they originally wanted, when it was offered it wasn’t good enough. Then he could highlight with specifics what a default would mean to the military and military readiness now and in the future, how it would effect seniors SS checks, disabled and vet checks, payments to businesses doing the governments business, how it would effect loans and lending, how interest rates would shoot up and hundreds of thousands or millions of jobs would be lost instantly. Really paint the bleak picture. Then say that as long as he is President of the United States that will not happen, and if the GOP wants to try and impeach him for guaranteeing America will be defended, that America will live up to it’s obligations and it’s good credit worldwide, that seniors, and vets, and the disbled will get their lifeblood, that students will be able to afford to go to school than that is a fight he is willing to take on. That this isn’t about him, it’s about America and Americans.

  50. The GOP will always claim it is a win for them, their problem is that no one is buying what they are selling anymore. POTUS showed them for what they really are and they can no longer hide behind their talking points.

  54. Hi snoop:) While I was away, I was watching Reid’s news conference…thanks for that though:)

  55. You really think Reid will cede control of the Senate to McConnell?? No way the Boehner proposal comes up for a vote in the Senate without a cloture vote unless the Dems want that to happen

  56. Exactly. Nobody is buying what they’re selling anymore…they have let the genie out of the bottle and they can’t put it back in…they have been exposed for who and what they really are…big money, big corporate interest money whores. American people be damned.

  57. No matter what happens on the debt ceiling fight remember that only 29% of the population is following the news on this subject, PBO hatred will continue to hate, and a leader who cares for his country will do the deal that is possible rather than let lunatics hurt the country. Elections have consequences and 2010 will go down as a time we nearly lost our minds.

  58. President addressing the nation on debt ceiling tonight at 9.00? Have you all heard this?

  59. I agree on all accounts…

All of them, in both news conferences, displayed united fronts!

Hopefully, after all this TeaPublican theatrics, PBHO will get one of his 50th birthday wishes…The debt ceilin’ raised to the “compromised” limit!

  61. Jon Kyl has a closed heart, a closed mind AND closed ears. Don’t waste your time contacting him. His record in the Senate makes John McCain look like a Progressive! Better you should pray we find a Democratic candidate who can beat his Republican successor in November 2012!

  62. yup. Krusty the Drunk will be sniffing PBO’s butt tonight too. Just like he did on Friday. Maybe he’ll be better prepared than he was on Friday……..NOT!😑

  63. President Obama to address nation tonight.

I really hope Wall Street, his address, and the people pressure Boehner like crazy.

  64. I think time has come for the President to declare an emergency and save the republic. it has been taken hostage by the GOP which has totally paralyzed the legislative arm of the govt. Another week of this nonsense from the GOP and we will be back to where the economy was when Prez Obama was sworn in. Time to stop it now before creditors and investors are spooked. Because once spooked, the effects will stretch through the first half of the 2012 presidency. This needs to be stopped now.

  65. President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi are continuing to be vindicated, can these Teapugs say “YES” to anything?

  66. @goldietaylor’s #BEFOREBLACKPRESIDENTS: HASHTAG HIGHLIGHTS DEBT CEILING DOUBLE STANDARD…

Generally speaking, WHEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES CALLS YOU PICK UP THE PHONE. Whether you’re an Iowa farmer, a Chinese prime minister, or SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT WHEN THE PRESIDENT CALLS YOU ANSWER.

    THIRTY-SIX HOURS.

THAT’S HOW LONG IT TOOK HOUSE SPEAKER JOHN BOEHNER TO RETURN THE PRESIDENT’S TELEPHONE CALL last week. I cannot imagine what he found more important. After all, WE’RE JUST DAYS AWAY FROM WHAT WILL LIKELY BE THE WORST SEASON OF ECONOMIC CALAMITY TO HIT AMERICAN SHORES since Hurricane Katrina…

THE DEBT CEILING HAS BEEN RAISED 74 TIMES SINCE 1962, including 18 times during the Reagan administration. Until now, getting congressional authorization to pay the nation’s bills was largely a routine exercise. Until now.

Despite this unprecedented era of strident partisanship, until now we could take a lot of things for granted. For instance, THE SEEMINGLY SMALL MATTER OF SPEAKER BOEHNER ANSWERING THE TELEPHONE WHEN THE PRESIDENT CALLS. Twice in two days, PRESIDENT OBAMA CALLED AND WAS FORCED TO LEAVE A MESSAGE. I am willing to wager that this has never once happened in the history of telephones.

AS THE DEBT CEILING TALKS PROGRESSED, I followed the updates on Twitter over the weekend. While traditional news outlets posted various status updates, “BLACK TWITTER” WAS UP TO SOMETHING ELSE. THE HASHTAG #BEFOREBLACKPRESIDENTS EMERGED some time Friday evening.

YOU SEE #BEFOREBLACKPRESIDENTS, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEEMED UNPATRIOTIC TO SAY YOU WANTED THE PRESIDENT TO FAIL. If you raised the debt limit 18 times, as in Ronald Reagan’s case, you would’ve been hailed a hero by the GOP and gotten an airport named in your honor. Intelligence was admired back then. We had a space program and everyone generally recognized that Hawaii was a state.

Back then, IT WAS PRETTY MUCH OKAY FOR THE PRESIDENT TO VACATION WITH FAMILY OR PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF. The mere suggestion that we provide healthier school lunches and encourage parents to cook healthy meals wasn’t considered socialism. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT #BEFOREBLACKPRESIDENTS GOVERNORS DIDN’T PUBLICLY SUPPORT SECESSION AND NOBODY FOUND IT NECESSARY TO TAKE THEIR COUNTRY BACK.

In a stunning show of unchecked zeal, SENATE MAJORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNELL SAID HIS NUMBER ONE GOAL WAS TO MAKE BARACK OBAMA A ONE-TERM PRESIDENT. Not creating new jobs, not advancing public education, not reforming our tax system or investing in America’s future. McConnell announced that he is wholly devoted to making sure Obama gets a one-way ticket back to Chicago. HOW DOES HE PLAN TO DO THAT?

    OBSTRUCTION.

From the looks of things, HE AND HIS COLLEAGUES PLAN TO KILL ANY EFFORT TO JUMP-START THE AMERICAN ECONOMY. They seem to believe that if they can just hold on to this bad economy long enough — maintaining the uncertain environment so business won’t invest and Americans will stay out of work — that they can re-take the White House in 2012.

THE REAL DEAL IS THEY DON’T WANT TO DEAL — not on the debt ceiling or anything else. THE PRESIDENT WAS RIGHT TO WONDER IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THE REPUBLICANS COULD SAY “YES” TO. The answer is no.

But it isn’t because of some trumped up commitment to so-called core principals. THE TRUTH IS TODAY’S REPUBLICAN PARTY IS CONTROLLED BY A FRINGE GROUP OF PLAYERS WHO AFTER ONE THING: MAKING SURE THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT IS THE LAST.

And, it *IS* causin’ “harm” to America, as a whole and the world!

BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, THEY GOTTA BE STOPPED…Grrr!😑

    What say ye:?

  67. Boehner would have more friends at AA than in his caucus. Maybe he should put that up for a vote. How many want to see him checked in?

  68. Yup, responsible and leader are not words associated with Boehner. And actually the way the system works is if your caucus doesn’t suppport your plan then you need to accept someone else’s plan. That’s what’s been done in Congress for decades. These Tea Party people are as idealogical in their “gubmit is bad” psychosis as Joe McCarthy was obsessed with communism in Hollywood. Scary times we are in — trying to hang onto our republic.

  69. What are you taking about SR. It is obvious sabotage. Sabotage the economy, sabotage PBO’s re-election. Its is ALL about the next election. WAKE up SR!!😯

  70. What always irks me is when progressive folks heckle our President, INSTEAD of heckling the jerks truly responsible for blocking progress. And we all know why this is done; heckling Obama is a lot easier and hell, a lot SAFER than heckling some southern congressman at a townhall meeting.

    Ya know?

Here is a meaningful analogy: The first time MLK lead his marchers across the Edmund Pettus in 1965 we saw what became known as “Bloody Sunday”, as the marchers were beaten. Now, did MLK then plan a 2nd march across the same bridge? OR, did he organize a much safer, easier protest in front of the White House, attacking LBJ’s failure to provide protection for the marchers? He could have, and a protest at the White House wouldn’t have put anyone’s safety at risk. But what did he end up doing?

History gives us the answer. They put their safety on the line again to stand up to the people who WERE NOT on their side. It’s one thing to stand up and heckle a man, a President, who is on your side and be shouted down by “Yes We Can”, but otherwise treated with respect. It’s another thing to stand up at a Tom Coburn or Mitch McConnell townhall and heckle them, knowing you are truly a pilgrim in an unholy land.

Don’t heckle the President because it’s safe, heckle the people who deserve heckling. That is all.

  71. You know, I remember during the campaigning in one of the Carolinas–do not remember which one–then candidate Obama was given a big stick by an AA senior citizen who told him to use it to whup these hooligans whenever they gave him trouble,. I think now is the time to get it out!!! These thugs need a whupping before they destroy the union..

  72. I am always amazes as to how you had this depiction of the president captured. That is brilliantly fantastic.

    Awesome.

  73. πŸ™‚ Yea. That would be good! by the way, Peter, welcome to the family….glad you’re here!

  74. Hey kasai,

It would be great for us to do a ‘MARCH ON THE U.S. CAPITOL’, inconjunction w/our Tweetin’/RTin’, FBin’, Emailin’, et al, to show our support for PBHO to America and the world…

Of course, WE would, also, be showin’ our displeasure towards theπŸ‘Ώ elected TeaPublicans, in Congress, and their ilk!

You know, MLK, Jr.’s National Memorial, in D.C., will be dedicated in Aug.

That would be a very appropriate time to have a march…Hmmm!

    Ya think?πŸ˜†

And, I agree OFA should have a WH “Block Party” for PBHO’s 50th!πŸ˜‰

By the way, fundraisers can be rescheduled for another date/time…

On the other hand, birthday celebrations that’s “a different ball game!”

    YES.WE.CAN…DO.(Much)More, Together!
    YES.WE.CAN, Again…Obama/Biden 2012!
    I’M IN…FIRED UP & GOIN’!πŸ˜‰

  75. The Donald told them so today.

Then before cry me an ocean Boehner spoke to his TBGOPer members, he spent time talking to Rush Limbaugh for approval.

They take an allegiance pledge to both Grover and Rush. Then that constitutional oath that they took not to default on the USA’s debt was I suppose, meaningless.

  76. Thats exactly what is going on hopefruit. And I hope the Democrats are aware of this. Koch bros. and Rove have been very busy. I hope PBO and the DEMS knows what’s up in all these swing states. They are bypassing the voters altogether. Its about voter supression and voting machine manipulation. Hope DWS and the DCCC and DNC are not asleep at the wheel.😑

  77. They are great at spin and having the MSM comply. Lets hope the end game is this post here.πŸ˜‰

  78. SR and Granny all your posts are spot on, but hopefruit’s post is at the type of their AGENDA. We must ot be blind to this fact.

  79. ummm………..thanks toa that 29% would explain the lack of marches and demonstrations on Capitol Hill.πŸ™„

  80. Thank you desert flower. I have been around for a while. Got hooked the first time i saw BWD’s great work here!!!

  81. She really has done some amazing work for all of us here> We love her:) Now I hear Howard Fineman and my gin and tonic just started to curdle in my stomach.

  82. It goes down better once you have eaten something. Do not let it corrode your empty inside…lol. And yes, she did good.

  83. Thank you 4tulips for what you are doing. Some AA who are joining the PL in bashing and disrespecting the President were completely mum when President Clinton worked with Republicans to pass more conservative legislations. They just couldn’t wait to be around him. Many declared him “the first Black President.” They fiercely defended him against Republican attacks.

Now that we have a real first Black president, they are completely silent when it comes to defending him from vicious attacks from both the left and the right. I am glad younger African Americans are beginning to see through the shameful failures of many members of the CBC. You would think that CBC members would be out there educating the people about the complexity of enacting a 100% Black agenda, in a political system designed to prevent radical changes, instead of joining in attacking a president who is facing vicious and unprecedented attacks, from both the right and the left, mainly because he is black.

  84. Everybody please DIAL, EMAIL, FAX (hate to waste paper, but this is needed) β€” whatever way you can get thru! Snail mail? We can do this! xox!

  85. Well said, overseasgranny! The problem I really have with the PL is their utter failure to deal with the reality of the way Congress functions.
