  1. Here’s my tweet, I am on it BWD…Will be tweeting till my little fingers can’t

The graves of Tim Russet,WalterCronkite must be shaking in the ground b/cause Journalism is DEAD. Shame on MSMS #mediafail

  2. I am not a Twitter user but I am delighted to see others making that method work for supporting the President.

  3. None of my relatives or friends Tweet, but I go after them with e-mail as they are prolific e-mailers. You do what you’ve got to do to get to them.

  4. BWD you should put that up everytime we need to push back with a hashtag for the day. It might be a daily thing.

  5. Now that ‘newstainer’ has been accepted by the Urban Dictionary, perhaps those of you who tweet will want to use it, as well.

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

  6. That’s a great idea! — post hashtags so we can get info trending.Twitter is the best and fastest way to message.

I was amazed at how fast we brought down Halperin. It was amazing to watch the action on Twitter. I signed on to TOD’s twitter list and it’s working like buttah! There are folks on the list with thousands of followers – amazing!

  7. Yes, we still need to keep the pressure on Time. They need to fire Halperin and need to apologize to the president. Nobody should freely insult the President and not face consequences. Not when they do so infront of millions of viewers around the world. Tweet, write emails or even call and fill up their voicemail boxes.

  8. Trending Tweet in the USA is now “Closing Argument of Casey Anthony Trial” We need to change it.

  9. Same thing as infotainer really. Anchors and pundits who worry more about entertaining/being a pretty face than reporting news/facts. More about the ratings than the news. I like infotainer better as it rolls off the tongue easier.

  10. Congrats on that, Bob. You are doing an amazing job of supporting the “world of factcraft” and your slogan is popping up all over. I will pass your “newstainer” on to my people who tweet, which are most of them on my email list.

I know I have to learn this tweet stuff myself but I am still a bit nervous about it.

  11. I see the usual haters have show up in your diary. They are in a whole another world.

  12. I think we can benefit from sticking with #mediafail on a daily basis rather than dissipating our tweets on a bunch of other hashtags. It’s my understanding that to get something to show up on the trending list, it has to be something a lot of people are talking about. Here’s the formula from an article I read:
More people, using the same hashtag, more frequently at a steady pace.

  13. You guys and our sister bloggers are amazing with this campaign. I was bragging to my husband last night about this new FORCE. I don’t tweet and have too much going on to learn, but I’ll email, and THANK YOU!

  14. gc, you may not be tweeting, but you can inspire tweets. You have a good mind for politics and are well-spoken. You just never know when something you write might end up on twitter. Email works very well if you have a list of people who routine *read* what you write. And why wouldn’t they? You write so well.

  15. Apparently, the rebel spokesperson has agreed that gaddafi can retire inside the country!
Waiting for a response from gaddafi, as the AU are also getting Russia involved in Peace talks!

  16. Also, the sad thing about the journalism and it’s bent towards defeating the president is, one minute they can be nice(like Rachel) and the next they totally lose it!

Deep inside every article, is information. Mostly always, right wing rags will interview administration officials, with pertinent and valuable stuff. The problem is- the spin after the quotes is did heartening!

From now on, I will only post stuff from the agencies, as they work for the president.

Putting stuff on twitter- daily- from the different agencies- gives people scarves of what is being done with the tax payers money!

    That is all!

    Carry on…

  18. We to need to have those that don’t email and call to keep the r pressure. you are definitely part of the force.

  19. you that was a promise Medved made With President Obama when he was overseas this year. So that is potus doing.

  20. But there has been no apology from Joe/Mika for there support of Halperin. MSNBC also has not apologized to PBO.

  21. I signed onto to twitter in ’08, but never used it much. I didn’t find how useful it was until the Tahrir Square revolution in Egypt earlier this year. The tweets from people on the ground and news sources like Al Jazeera were the most timely updates I coud find. I am not yet an adept tweeter, but retweet things I find worthwhile. I just tweeted:

The US mainstream news media is in the back pocket of the GOP. They want the President to fail, but they are #mediafail.

    My twitter name: @abdulazeez1

  22. Wow – coming from you, whjat a compliment! Thank you, and have a wonderful and safe holiday. I admire your writing, but your spunk as well, BTW.

  23. Sorry that just feels like a trap to drive traffic and get Kos #s up. He is prob looking to sell it like AHuffpo. I will not give them a click. Besides, how dare they copy off of BWD. There is plenty of space over here to show PBO love respect & support.

  24. No, No, Smiling. It is a diary by This Is My Time in honor of BWD. Has nothing to do with KOS himself. TiMT is kind of doing an in your face thing to the PL as well as honoring the President and BWD.

  25. Oh no, dear, you got it all wrong. This is a diary by This Is My Time who is one of the most fierce PBO supporters I’ve ever met. Unlike me, he is still going to that place, facing insult and abuse and keeps coming back with the truth about the president. If I still had an account there, I would go to rec each and every diary of his, because he is awesome and he is a hero to me.

  26. His diary is good and he squashing their face in it. Ha ! Exploded the picture.

  27. Can someone post email addresses or twitter accounts of Rethug senators and Congressmen so we can flood them with emails during the July 4th break? We should now bring our fire to focus on the obstructionist Repugs. Let’s make them uncomfortable too.

  28. MSNBC did issue an apology but Morning Joke and his silly sidekick did not and I too believe they should be dealt .

  29. I have a question. Bear in mind that I am twitter challenged. But here is what I want to know. What is the hashtag and by using “mediafail,” what does it do or what are we trying to accomplish?

Are we trying to get the people to push back at the media or are we trying to it to address the issues (i.e. Republican failure to address the economy) that it is not covering?

There is another part to my question but I will wait for an answer.

  30. I ain’t giving free pass to bullshit my lady. Hanging tough and smacking down bullsh. As to the filth in that place, I just do what Obama usually does — brush my shoulders off. You are very welcome my Dear. I may not be commenting here often but there isn’t one episode I don’t read of your post. You are indeed relentless and truly an inspiration. Thank you for all you do.

  31. abdul – you see a comment bix below “what’s happening” right at the top of your twitter page ? you just type your post and click on the Twitter button at the bottom right of that comment box. That’s it.

Of course it took me days to figure that out.:)

While you can’t edit your tweets (ask wiener), you delete them from your page, but it’ll still be floating in the netherworld (again ask wiener(.

  32. Happy to do so, tulips. Here’s what I originally submitted to UD:

Employees and β€˜guests’ of major corporate broadcast radio, tv and cable organizations whose primary function is to generate cash flow by manipulating and sensationalizing any information, and, whenever possible, do so to also undermine President Obama, destroy the American middle class, erode Medicare/Medicaid, privatize Social Security, and continue to undermine the American economy if that’s what it takes to defeat President Obama and Democratic candidates in 2012.
Rachel Maddow’s lie about President Obama’s support of equal rights for LGBT American citizens is one example of a Newstainer.

The intentional efforts by the Republicans to default on the Nation’s deficit and Fox Newstainer’s support of all things TeaParty aka Republican Party.

The intentional, comprehensive efforts by the Koch Brothers to destroy Social Security and Medicare and all the Newstainers, and Foundation and Congressional persons whom they support with their donations.

And a blog friend also made a submission just to be sure πŸ™‚

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

  33. I’ve been twittering a lot today, constantly using the #mediafail about all kinds of things. I feel empowered after watching the sh*t the GOP has been feeding the MSM, and their inability to expose it for what it is.

It all started, for me, with our pushback on Rachel Maddow, so now I am on fire to hound the MSM. If we all do it together, we will get results…but we all must do it.

    We.can.do.this Re-elect Obama/Biden 2012!

  34. I stopped by and recommended you, and told you that I loved your post, which I did, of course πŸ™‚ Thanks for doing that.

  35. I feel your frustration smiling. I am just trying push back the garbage and at the same time push traffic to BWD’s site. But, I really understand your feeling of that place though.

  36. TIMT is how I landed here, right after GG did us all a huge favor by bringing attention to this wonderful place.

  37. So am I. I don’t know about the hashtag either. I have a twitter account, but never sign on. I think I’m too old for this crap!

  38. Ok, will do. All I am doing each tweet is using that hashtag and focusing on the media’s lack of calling out Republicans for their lies and deception., as well as the media’s own responsiblity in not focusing on facts.

  39. Happy Fourth of July!

I found this on a blog and thought you might enjoy it.

Peter Ferrara, an associate professor of law at the George Mason University School of Law in Northern Virginia, penned an article entitled, “What Is An American?”, which i’m posting below to let everyone know what an American is, so they would know when they found one.

An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghani. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, nor to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 35 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! As of the morning of 9/11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.

Americans welcome the best: the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. I’ve been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

  40. All of the above. I’ve been reading #mediafail today and have seen people commenting on how the media isn’t doing its job, some of the hypocrisy of the media, definitely writing about the kamikaze mission the Republicans are on…all in one place. It’s pretty interesting.

  41. Hi TiMT, I normally avoid linking to that site, but because of my deep respect for you I went ahead and did it this time. Thanks for a wonderful piece and thanks for giving kudos to our beloved BWD. I am also glad that there are still people at the Orange who support the President and are not consumed with Obama hatred promoted by some of loudest posters on that site.

  42. Zizi, that was really a superb diary! It should be a must read for everyone interested in saving this country from the total madness coming from Republicans.

Hmm – on my bb and can’t see how to reply in-line to the hashtag questions, so here goes (sorry!).

On Twitter, the term ” hashtag” means a keyword that helps categorize your tweet. Thanks to keywords, one, when people read what you wrote, there is context. And two, when people search that keyword, or click on it in a tweet (Twitter hyperlinks them automatically), they are taken to a page that aggregates all of the tweets on Twitter that use that same keyword, or “hashtag.”

As an example, when people tweeted about the epic leveling of Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, they added hashtags such as “#whcd,” “#sethmyers,” “#barackobama,” and “#donaldtrump.” When Twitter’s code sees that pound/number sign, or hashtag, it creates a link that takes you to a results page displaying all other tweets with that hashtag. It’s a speedy news aggregator. That’s why people push early on to define a news item or trend with a consistent hashtag, e.g., “#iranrevolution” or “#arabspring.” It makes it easy for the world to find – and share – collective thoughts by sharing and spreading a definitive keyword that, literally, links all those tweeted thoughts together.

If you want to try it now, go to Twitter.com’s search bar and type in any topic of interest you have, all as one word, with the hashtag (number sign) in front, e.g. #billcosby, #whyihateschool, #mediafail. As you read all of the related tweets, it will all fall into place – and probably hook you, too ;).
