Hi guys,

Have a great weekend.

  1. PBO smacks down GOP faux outrage … he just gives them more and more rope to hang themselves.

“I give people the benefit of the doubt. I try to understand their point of view. If I perceive that they try to take advantage of that, then I will crush them.”
    — Barack Obama

    FIRED UP…!!

    READY TO GO..!!!😀

  3. I don’t think the President “crushes”. I think he figures out who is dishonorable and makes it possible by using intelligent strategies for them to “crush” themselves by running headlong into their own brick walls.

  4. We should then call up MSNBC for TRMS again demand for an apology. Her number is: 212-664-4444 or MSNBC.com/maddow.blog

  5. Now there is evidentiary proof that Roger Ailes and Carl Roves and Nixon in the early 1970s were planning a TV station for GOPers.

Those on the left side, who thinks that when a Dem is in the WH, the preofessional left should just go after them at every second, well now you have your proof that you are helping GOPers bury your own. With the horrible attack on USA on 9-11, Fox was able to use the flying of USA flag to shame the other TV/Cable network to shield Bush from criticism. Anyone that spoke up lost his/her job or was soundly scorned and never heard from again. And once CNN was being beaten in the ratings by Fox, the Cable objectivity, change and soon after the landscape of the TV conduct changed and had NEVER been the same.

It is up to Us, and Dems and good lefties to make a fundamental change. We start by being engaged, fighting back and demanding from media, a change in how they report the news.

  6. I missed the piece on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show regarding the memos regarding Nixon and Roger Ailes and the creating of what we now know of as FOX news/noise…. BWD can you post the clip of the ECHO chamber perhaps next week when the masses get back from holiday.

This is how they repeat the message and folk hear this over and over and start to believe the message instead of the REALITY….

    Happy Saturday all…

  7. THIS….IS AN EXCELLENT…CORRECT…AND VERY INSIGHTFUL STATEMENT REGARDING OUR PRESIDENT. OUR PRESIDENT IS NOT A BULLY BRUISER…HE THINKS WISELY AND ALLOWS THE PERPETRATOR TO STEP IN THEIR OWN MANURE PATCH!

  8. And this is exactly why BHO’s (it’s not television, it’s BHO) will never satisfy “ordinary” progressives or independents who lean left.

I did not understand this until last week when I talked to an Orange-Site addict and a “those damned Obama reconstruction jobs that overhaul my city are obstruct my daily commute” independent.

If they (both late 50-ers) visualize political strength, they see LBJ: Strong-arming his way into Congress and getting what he wants by bullying.

    That’s not this President’s “modus operandi” (yes, that’s Latin – you elitists-haters !).

BHO let his opponents quietly paint themselves into a corner and then politely offers them a way out – for a price.

  9. By the way, did everybody see the bank receipt of the hedge fund manager in the New York Papers. It showed he removed about $400+ dollars from his savings account and still had 99,864,731.94 dollars left over. As POTUS said in his News conference we applaud the rich but they don’t need loop holes/or more unjustified tax breaks…

    PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE………………………………… AS I DO A REGUALR 9-5PM EMPLOYEE…

  10. What a shame that is. If they had been paying attention, they would have “gotten it” a long, long, time ago.

A little common sense, intuition, and introspection can be very helpful in the journey of life.

  11. President Obama said that the GOP position on dealing with deficit reduction on the backs of the poor, seniors and middle class, is unsustainable. I hope they live to regret their lies and “faux outrage” as this time the voters make them pay for taking that position.

    Happy Independence Day to all.
And thank you BWD for you hard work making this space and TOAITR family possible .

  12. You got that right Michelle. Let’s just say, if I removed $400 from my account, I would not have $99,864, 731.94 dollars left over. Simple math.

I am not a hedge fund manager; I am you.

  13. “If they (both late 50-ers) visualize political strength, they see LBJ: Strong-arming his way into Congress and getting what he wants by bullying.”

Some people are addicted to conflict I have concluded. They’re more interested in theater than progress.

The President is interested in winning primarily and not wasting his energy posturing. He also knows more than one way to fight. Boxing and throwing tantrums are the preferences of some. He appears to favor akiddo or jiujitsu:

“Soft style martial arts seek to redirect force and upset balance. The opponent’s energy and attack vectors are taken and manipulated into elegantly upsetting the attacker’s equilibrium. The end result is an opponent whose own momentum is used against them (in a throw or trip) or who is brought into compromising holds and chokes.”

And beyond all of that, Congressional Quarterly said that President Obama out LBJed the legendary LBJ:

“In his first year in office, President Obama did better even than legendary arm-twister Lyndon Johnson in winning congressional votes on issues where he took a position, a Congressional Quarterly study finds.

The new CQ study gives Obama a higher mark than any other president since it began scoring presidential success rates in Congress more than five decades ago.”

  14. Excellent article. This man writes as crisply and clearly on these issues as anyone I have seen. Meghan McCain must be arguing with him constantly:) BWD has used his articles previously to begin a new thread. The guy is dead on! I’d pass this one around…

  15. I’m sure this was common knowledge to most (as it is on his wikipedia page), but I’ve learned today that we can add another to the “former” Republican now voice of progressives list – Americablog’s John Aravosis.

From his wiki – Aravosis is a lawyer and worked on Capitol Hill as a foreign policy adviser for Ted Stevens, a Republican senator, in the late 1980s and early 1990s before becoming a Democrat.

So add Aravosis to Markos, Cenk, Ed Shultz, Ariana Huffington as “former Republicans”, along with Jane Hamsher who partners with Grover Norquist and does advertising work for Republicans, and Dan Choi who seems right at home at GOProud events.

  16. [ROMANS 13:1] There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. [THE LIVING BIBLE PARAPHRASED]

(President Barack Obama) will be re-elected in ‘2012

  17. You are right BWD, PBO has told the gay community that he is with them, and it will take time to do things, he said we must win the hearts and mines of the American people, PBO does understands all of the issues , but just remember he is the President of all the people including those who did not vote for him.
I am sure Maddow understand that, but it seems she was taken by The Grandioso Choi,

  18. 14TH AMENDMENT OPTION: YOU CAN’T DEMAND RANSOM IF THERE’S NO HOSTAGE:

    By Stan Collender

Take this discussion of the legislative history of Section 4 by Jack Balkin that was posted yesterday. The whole post is worth reading, but here’s the money quote:

…the goal (of Section 4) was to remove threats of default on federal debts from partisan struggle. Reconstruction Republicans feared that Democrats, once admitted to Congress would use their majorities to default on obligations they did disliked politically. More generally, as Wade explained, “every man who has property in the public funds will feel safer when he sees that the national debt is withdrawn from the power of a Congress to repudiate it and placed under the guardianship of the Constitution than he would feel if it were left at loose ends and subject to the varying majorities which may arise in Congress.”

Like most inquiries into original understanding, this one does not resolve many of the most interesting questions. What it does suggest is an important structural principle. The threat of defaulting on government obligations is a powerful weapon, especially in a complex, interconnected world economy. Devoted partisans can use it to disrupt government, to roil ordinary politics, to undermine policies they do not like, even to seek political revenge. Section Four was placed in the Constitution to remove this weapon from ordinary politics.

  19. Excellent…I made an “oops” and posted that, too! THey must really think the American people are stupid…

  20. Happy Saturday everyone! It is a beautiful day here in MT. I really believe more people are waking up to the fact that the Republicans will ruin this country just to take Obama down. I do believe what they are doing is treason. Today I am going to a have lovely day and I hope everyone here does too.

  21. Cheney said shortly after re-election when asked about the deficit “Deficits don’t matter, we have a mandate”.

Then you look at the two wars without paying for them, the Bush Tax cuts without paying for them, Medicare Part D without paying for it – they bankrupted the country on purpose!

Look at what is happening in Greece – their government doctored the books for years, allowing them to live well beyond their means and now they’re finally caught and are being forced to sell off many state interests to private investors to pay their bills. I wonder where these politicians are who cooked the books are – I bet not in jail, but rather working for these private companies raiding Greece.

There is a brilliant book out “The Shock Doctrine : The rise of disaster capitalism” by Naomi Klein that is must read if you have the time.

    Amazon review snippet-
“Naomi Klein’s The Shock Doctrine advances a truly unnerving argument: historically, while people were reeling from natural disasters, wars and economic upheavals, savvy politicians and industry leaders nefariously implemented policies that would never have passed during less muddled times. As Klein demonstrates, this reprehensible game of bait-and-switch isn’t just some relic from the bad old days. It’s alive and well in contemporary society, and coming soon to a disaster area near you.”

  22. Don’t read the comments though. It is unimaginable how many people think Obama is a liar, and that we live under socialism, and that the debt is all Obama’s fault for these writers.

Thank God the average american seems more informed as they still lay the blame for the recession at Bush’s feet, where it belongs.

  23. Dedicated to our Wonderful President…

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND EVERYONE🙂🙂

  24. Wow…..Wow……… I can’t wait for the overall numbers, that includes PBO fundraising…This is just incredible.🙂

The final numbers are in. Thanks to you, we absolutely blew away our grassroots goal for Thursday’s Federal Election Commission (FEC) fundraising deadline.

Because of your incredible support, we raised a goal-shattering $1,124,914. More importantly, we blew past our goal of 200,000 donors for the year with more than 210,000 people stepping up to contribute.

Your support has sent an unmistakable message to the world that Democrats can and will win back the House next year. On behalf of the DCCC, I can’t thank you enough.

  25. This interesting WaPo article on the debt negotiations http://goo.gl/QBbLF ends like this:
“You’re dealing with a very complicated piece of business here,” said Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). “That’s not going to be concluded by August 2nd.”

Well, duh…it sure as heck isn’t going to get done by Aug 2nd if they keep going on vacation.

  26. Instead of reading Ameriblog you might as just well head over to REDSTATE. Same thing.

  27. lol…Like PBO said in his press conference: “One week Here…One week There….

  28. Greed is a powerful force. Notice how Arianna Huffington got her foothold, passing herself off as this newly minted Progressive. She milked it, using the PL, knowing how for the last 30 years they have been mostly reactionaries.

She and many of these other folks use this precisely to make their so-alled followers jump. All they have to do is create a controversy and stoke it. It is in the Fox news model.

And if you notice one thing, with all the criticisms they heap on the Teabaggers, these same people who follow the likes of Cenk, et. al., are no different. They all have the same DNA.

  29. You’re funny!

And along those lines: to all the Kossacks who denigrated my “trusting” BHO. WINNING!!!!

  30. I just saw huntsman spokesman on CNN (ariana huffington)blaming the president for focusing on the debt crisis and not jobs!

    Not one word about republicans!

And kos eats this shit up!

  31. I am not surprise. Ms. Huffington is a opportunnist. She prey on the left to earn her money. As do kos. I am also not suprise that she was on CNN spousing that BS. I mean this is the same network that want the Whitehouse to cave to the debt negotations.

  32. BWD, I agree Rachel Maddow won’t have this on her show. I used to like her but now, she doesn’t have to worry about me and her show. I’m DONE!!

  33. Rachel has NOT supported this President. It’s never enough or quick enough for her and a few from the looney left.
