  1. Awwwww!! Children know they can trust him. When are some of these adults in America gonna get it?

  2. Adding this to my collection of “Adorable President and Baby Photos” — it’s a keeper! That little boy has gorgeous hair which he will probably hate when he gets a little bit older. Thanks BWD! And Kels, I could not agree more with your question!

  3. Babies and children do know who is sincere and who isn’t. BO is sure a keeper in my book.

  4. You can’t fix 10 years of neglect in two years. It’s going to take time. Tell it Mr. President.

  5. Awww, I just love pictures like this. The little pumpkin in the top photo is so cute! I’d love to be more like President Obama, and bring out the best in people. He sets the gold standard. Thanks so much, bwd, for all that you do to bring news, terrific videos, and images like this to us. Appreciated.

  6. It has been more than a decade…

But, ain’t that tha truth, though! πŸ˜‰ lol

  7. Fabulous pics BWD. What would we do without you? Much luv!! πŸ™‚

  8. I know she wants it as proof and is lining up the shot, but this kid of thing drives me crazy. Nobody is lost in the moment anymore they’re too busy trying to document it for their facebook page or something.

  9. Actually, since the Budget Office says the deficit will take care of itself and go away, I wish the Dems would force only a vote on raising the debt ceiling and then leave the pubbies twisting in the wind.

  10. For those of you who would like to know what’s happening in the Nafusa mountains, moving steadily northward to Tripoli, a friend keeps track of that stuff and makes very nice maps, updated daily πŸ™‚

I have his permission to post the link here:

Some useful instructions can be found here:

  11. I am watching the hearings in the senate on the U.S. Military Action in Libya Resolution. They are offering amendments now. There are fascinating discussions about the War Powers Act. On CSPAN now.

  12. That man is catnip to babies. He’s got the vote of the under 10 crowd for sure. Barack Obama, Baby Whisperer. Every time you see him holding a baby the kid is looking as happy and relaxed as a baby can be.

  13. Do you ever wonder if his ribs hurt after a day of being squeezed by ladies wanting a hug?

  14. Great article and video at the end. I don’t think it’s dawned on the media yet the President is going around the country building huge business networks consisting of public-private partnerships. No matter what Repubs are attempting this man is not going to let China leave us in the dust. Works for me.

  15. Catzmaw…I don’t recall your name coming up in the twitter frenzy on TOD… I’d happily follow you. Bobfr, too, if he has one.

  16. My husband, who watches CNN and MSNBC ad nauseum didn’t know that Michelle Obama and the girls were in Africa.

  17. Do we think Obama should have gotten Congress to sign off after the initial 60 days? I don’t see the downside, frankly. Instead it’s become about what Obama will or will not do, instead of letting Republicans vote against containing Qadaffi. I really don’t get it. The WH explanation was weak, I thought.

  18. Lookin’ at all those Iowa DY-NO-MITE pics, those TeaPublican presidential wannabes “can’t touch” our Prez…

PBHO *WON’T* be “beat” by any of them not even Rick “Goodhair” Perry…Grrr!

  19. I am also watching the hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the U.S. Military Action in Libya. Very interesting all morning and now into the afternoon. Senator Kerry has been very professional in chairing this hearing.

  20. I tend to agree, unless he wanted Congress to press the issue so that there can be a final showdown on what a President can and cannot do.

  21. No posturing because it’s not a partisan divide issue. High ranking GOP(Mccain, Graham) want to be there so this isn’t necessarily a soapbox issue.

  22. From a pure political standpoint I would have loved to have watched Republicans talk about paying for war and voting against taking out Qaddafi. Instead it’s all Obama’s failing and it’s pissing off everyone on all sides. Don’t get it.

  23. Republicans would posture no matter what. Thank you, Sen. Kerry, for reminding people what serious governance looks like.

  24. Thanks, cup! He really does set a terrific example, I wish I were more consistent in following it. But these baby pictures make my day every time I see them.

  25. Of course there is a compromise with the GOP cav-in Jovie. I’m sure PBO will not be getting all the taxcuts for the RICH eliminated like he wanted either. Remember we have a Pragmatic man in the Whitehouse. The PL will have a field day with this. πŸ™‚

  26. But it is more than likely that the Republican House may have denied authorization and Pres Obama would have been totally embarrassed internationally and it could have affected his foreign policy standing.

  27. Not a suprise here SR. McConnell failed to mentioned PBO would have to be White as well. LOL!!

  28. Here’s the update from CSPAN on the Senate hearings on Libya:

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee endorsed the President’s actions in Libya. The panel passed a measure that would authorize the President to conduct “limited” military engagement in Libya. The measure, cosponsored by Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and John McCain (R-AZ), is similar to the one the House failed to pass last Friday, which was a rebuke to President Obama.

Meant to challenge President Obama’s unilateral decision to engage the U.S. military in Libya, members of the committee offered numerous amendments to alter the Kerry-McCain proposal, but the panel failed to pass the most drastic measure that would have restricted the President’s ability to fight the incursion. The amendment would have defunded much of the military actions, but only five members of the 19 members of the committee supported it.

Committee members did support measures attempting to reign in the President’s authority. One measure would require the President to report back to Congress updates on the military mission and one that would prohibit the President from engaging U.S. troops on the ground in Libya.

    More here…..

  29. hmmm…………..Ladyhawke. Guess that is what you call our branches of Government’s checks and balances. Wish we could do something about the CORRUPT 3rd branch…the Supreme Court. Appointing Sotomeyer and Kagan is a start.

  30. LOL, thanks you are funny. Thanks again for all your positive and pro active links Jovie. You really add to the forum. I like your work at OFA as well. Keep it up girl. We love you. I know ya’ll wish that Pscychotic Governor of yours down in Florida was gone, huh?

  31. I had a young man from the Young Democrats spend an hour with me so I got the basics down. He helped me make sense of a lot of it, yes.

  32. Really? i despise MSM with a passion but because so many of my clients have been adamant about watching the Anthony murder trial, the last few weeks, the tvs here been on CNN (gaaah) and I saw a few stories about Mrs. O’s trip. I didn’t even know CNN has a Essence magazine sponsored series but they do and her trip was part of some of their stories. Also local news showed each and every day of her stops in the evenings.

Could there be more on this momentous and historical trip absolutely yes. πŸ™‚

  33. Bingo! People keep insisting that PBO go to Congress and get approval. This is the same congress that wont’t pass a stimulus or his appointtees. By the time that congress authorize the intervention the Libyans would be dead.

  34. I think the money bomb is working! Time to raise the bar BWD, you are now way above the $5000 goal post πŸ™‚

  35. Oh, wow! I wonder how many of the new donors counted are people on here.
    405 289 and counting…

  36. “Rebel fighters have managed to capture a significant munitions depot from Libyan government forces in the west of the country, near the town of Zintan.

Tuesday’s development is seen as a major victory for the rebels as they make their way to Tripoli, the seat of Muammar Gaddafi’s power.

Al Jazeera’s Jonah Hull, reporting from Jadu, a nearby town, said that finding the stash will be an “enormous morale-booster” for the fighters, who he said have been working with limited weaponry and had been anxiously eyeing the weapons dump.

The rebels had only managed to get close to the arms cache on Tuesday morning, when “just about every man with wheels” drove across the desert to load up his vehicle with munitions, he said.

“Tons and tons of munitions and equipment, including two Russian T-55 tanks, I must say, coming back across the road from the weapons depot back up into Zintan, and an armoured vehicle,” he said”….More

  37. I think PBO decided to move away from the tax cuts issue because he plans to get rid of them permanently after the 2 year extension expires. Focusing on them now would provide further “jobs killing” rhetoric for republicans to muddy the waters on the debt ceiling issue. I think it’s a smart move at this time to focus more intensely on raising the debt limit instead of giving the republicans more room to lie about how tax cuts “kill” jobs. Preserving the financial integrity of the nation is paramount.

  38. I can’t find the link to the page that has the latest count on the number of donors so far. Anyone have it handy?

  39. No. I doubt she even broached the subject. She must have been humiliated by the amount of pushback that she got (which she clearly didn’t expect). Like Grayson, Weiner and Olbermann, she spends too much browsing FDL and DailyKos. Gives her a false sense of “anti-Obama” security.

  40. Well, Michelle Bachman thinks that eliminating the minimum wage altogether will create jobs!!!

  41. If he had sought Congressional approval, several thousands of Libyans would be in mass graves, if buried at all. Period.

It was not expected for NATO’s mission to be ‘fast’ and the pace of progress – for those paying attention to sources other than what the newstainers write, i.e., almost all the press, not just US – is absolutely remarkable.

The UN resolutions place clear boundary conditions on NATO. And, fact is, the freedom fighters in Libya want it to be that way.

The Libyans are liberating their country. This is not imposed ‘nation building.’

And, fact is, with the ICC warrants issued yesterday, and the vast amount of evidence compiled against Daffi and his sons and ministers, any Congressional member not supporting the President and NATO is literally supporting a group of documented war criminals.

So, President Obama did exactly what the President of the USA should have done.

And, the Libyan freedom fighters are now very well organized and moving on three fronts and are less than 50 KM from downtown Tripoli.

You are looking at the 21st Century equivalent of the American Revolution – as long as you look at what is actually happening in Libya and not at what you read/see in the corporate newstainment media.

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

  42. Well said, bob. Fvck the congress critters. This is all about Obama for both the rethugs and the vile dems. If they’re about “principles”, let them stop funding.

  43. Well, it will. You will work for no pay and get the title of Serf with a promotion some year to Peasant.

  44. What comedian said that during slavery…..employment was 100%. I guess they wish for those days again. Real family values…mom, dad, and children working together for one united paycheck. Tea-No-P are sickos.

  45. I guess the president is having a press conference we’d to tell the republicans that Not raising the debt belong is unconstitutional.

Oooooo, don’t mess with the constitution professor.

He most likely is paving the way for suspending habeas corpus like Lincoln did!!!

As the negotiations over raising the debt ceiling continue to fall apart, with the two GOP delegates to the debt reduction talks abdicating their roles despite progress towards an extremely GOP-friendly compromise, experts are issuing additional warnings about the consequences of a failure to reach an agreement that results in raising the debt limit.

Today, Moody’s chief economist and former McCain economic adviser Mark Zandi put it in the clearest possible terminology. Forecasting four percent GDP growth by the end of the year, he warned that if the debt ceiling is not raised, “I think we go into recession and my forecast would be blown out of the water.”
Additionally, a study by former budget officials reports that failing to raise the debt ceiling would necessitate the furlough of 800,000 federal workers β€” probably a goal for Republicans irrationally hostile towards any job in the public sector. And despite the pre-election jobs rhetoric that carried them into the House majority, the House GOP has introduced legislation that would cut millions of jobs over the next few years. So they probably aren’t too upset about a mere 800,000 workers not getting paid for a little while.

  47. People who should be smarter….but aren’t: I’ve watched Keith the last few days, still peddling the meme that the expiration of the Bush tax cuts is “off the table”. As if they’re off the table forever.

The first day — okay, maybe someone on the staff missed it. This has only been said, and not by the WH by the way, in terms of the debt ceiling negotiations. No one is taking the expiration of the Bush tax cuts off the table PERMANENTLY.

Keith, shame on you. I don’t mind your opinions. I don’t mind some of your outrage. But when you wilfully ignore facts that don’t fit your bias, shame on you.

  48. There was even significant pushback on dKos. My husband turned the show on about 20 minutes in so I didn’t know if she broached the subject.

She should be ashamed for such a biased statement. I don’t think I can watch her show ever again.

Like my above comment about Keith’s meme implying that Bush tax cuts are off the table FOREVER, this wilful dishonesty is destructive and should be destructive to the reputations of these pundits.

  49. Right?! As if he’s the Secretary of State. He really does think very highly of himself, doesn’t he? Hmmmm….. maybe he’s going to be the one they talk into challenging Obama as the Democratic nominee, so he’s showing what a peace-maker he is. Puleeze.

  50. Then I’m done with her. My clicker will do the talking (as did my email and the many others voicing their displeasure).

How a progressive can look at the record of this President on LGBT issues and make such an outrageous statement is appalling. If Obama had done what would have made Rachel happy at that fundraiser Saturday night, would she still be cheering if the Republicans had balked in NY and voted against the bill? Would that have been reason for celebration for Rachel?

    I’m completely disgusted.

  51. Bobf, I think the White House should hire you! You explain things so perfectly and in a nutshell, I bet you could have argued Obama’s case much more effectively than the current people are doing!

  52. I had to come here for just a pick me up. I get so upset with folks that try to predict what President Obama will say at a press conference and begin to already express their “unhappiness” without even knowing what he will say. I am so sick of the purists that leave no room for anything but what their latest tantrum is. As I posed to the individual that said that they were “bracing” and will be “unhappy” tomorrow, why watch the damn press conference if they already “know what he will say?” We are going to have to fight this fight together, and not expect the “professional left,” “fauxgressives,” or the attention seekers to join us.

I have joined the team of fighters on twitter. I have started to follow some of the people that I saw on whatisworking sight.

    I am @reelectobama012

  53. I am watching Rachel Maddow right now, (I’m in CA) and she seems very subdued, businesslike, and sticking to facts..I think all the tweets, emails, etc. have gotten to her. She is certainly not smiling. Will watch to the end to see if she comments on her lie. I doubt it. I sense that she is seething underneath as though she is mad at us for calling her out. I don’t mind that. I would rather she stick to the facts! Bash the Republicans, that’s what I want to hear, not any bashing of Obama. He has enough people bashing him.

  54. It’s very interesting that she’s getting bashed. I guess the “real base” spoke up, not the “fake base” that she and other PL rely on.

  55. Supposedly she has a tweet out that says and I am paraphrasing……

President does not support same-sex marriage, it’s OK if you are mad at me.

  56. He supports them having the same rights though something he has always said, so I just don’t get why she is focusing on the semantics civil unions vs marriage/tomato tomata..Ny was the 6th state to legalize same sex marriage yet why this time has she decided to go all commando? Did she say that each time a state passed a gay marriage law?

  57. we must pressure the msm untill the msm starts to tell the truth about the good things that our president as done

  58. ……Exactly Kell. Also CBS, NBC, and ABC had had coverage over her trip on the nightly news. Muck the cable news networkds. πŸ™‚

  59. Bias? What are you referring to Faith? We are all on the same team and I love PBO. I don’t understand your animosity.

  60. Very kind of you, Betsy.

Fact is that it really is not that hard to argue anything on behalf of the President – at least it shouldn’t be – because his words, and most importantly, his actions make it quite straightforward.

    No hype required.

BTW, for those who may be interested, I submitted a word and definition of it to Urban Dictionary and they just informed me it has been accepted and will appear in a few days.

The word is ‘Newstainer’ – and we all know whom it describes, i.e., the vast majority of radio/teevee/cable faux journalists, i.e., the vast majority of those ‘reporting the news’ on the corporate newstainment media. What used to be the Fourth Estate is now merely a cash flow entertainment business.

Thank goodness for us 21st Century ‘pamphleters’ πŸ™‚

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

  61. Sorry Faith didn’t realize you were talking about Keith Olberman.LOL! He is a farce along with Rachel Maddows. They are not true Progressives. They are frontmen for their corrupt corporate masters in the studio offices.

  62. OK, watching Fox Soccer Channel’s “Fox Soccer Report”, and it just did a story on the Colorado Rapids’ visit to the WH. They interviewed both the manager and the team captain, and both spoke glowingly about PBO. More of that, please!

  63. Betsy thanks, but no thanks. I don’t want to hear anything about that BIATCH!!

  64. Well LL as they should. No surprise to the CHOIR here at BWD. πŸ™‚

  65. I would have loved to have seen that clip. If it becomes available, please post.

  66. I think Dennis the Menace is craving another ride in Air Force One…remember how quiet he kept for many months after that first ride during the health care debate? Maybe this time Prez told him “no” and he’s been mad ever since.

  67. How on earth do I copy that beautiful picture? I MUST have it – it’s delicious!

  68. There are two separate efforts taking place simultaneously: the campaign is seeking a total of 450,000 donors, and a total of 550,000 donations. This is to account for the fact that so many people have already donated to the campaign and are already repeat donors. Hope that’s not too confusing.

bwd has certainly done her part: the moneybomb is now over $6k (someone made a huge donation) and 120 people. Great job, everyone!

  69. Indeed, LL, in_deed πŸ™‚

Hope all is well for you.

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

  70. I don’t know — the Senate won’t approve his nominees (worst record of obstruction ever — where is the gang of 14 when we need them??) or any of his other requests. It would have been foolish of PBO to trust the Congress to exercise its power in a responsible fashion

  71. Rachel is just the Michelle Bachman of the left — I always double down and repeat my lie even louder the second time . .

  72. bwd, congrats, you’re approaching $7,000 lol! Please push your personal fundraising page in all of your entries today. You deserve so much credit for this space, and I suspect that this space is going to raise lots of cash through 2012. Yes we can!

  73. I tweet under the name CFWard57. I’m just getting into the tweeting biz myself. I think I’ve seen your name. Isn’t AngryBlackLady following you? Anyway, I’m pretty sure she’s retweeted a few of your comments. ABL is a big Obama supporter, which means she gets my vote. I’m going to follow you, too. The Obama supporters should stick together and fight back against the relentless rain of stupid pouring down on us all from both the left and right.
