More of this, please

  1. This is going to sound so girly and trivial, but I love love love Michelle’s shoes here. Oprah’s are fly too, but Michelle always seems to have shoes that look terrific yet the heels are not too high, and she loves to rock sensible flats. They all look great.

Now that important stuff aside, bwahahahaha at the GOP. The Ryan plan is the gift that keeps on giving, and it’s wonderful to see the public reject this “slash services to the poor and middle class while cutting taxes for the rich” draconian approach to entitlement reform.

  2. Gorgeous! Lots of pretty colors up on that stage. Everybody looks just lovely. Never let ’em see ya sweat! I love how they look like they have not a care in the world. Can’t wait til this (and the behind-the-scenes show) airs.

And imagine, he bounced right from trouncing the Chump to Air Force One to Chitown to Oprah’s couch — all without missing a beat. Gotta love ‘im! *My* Prez :-)!

  3. Yes, I have something very important to add:

Did you see that slammin’ yellow coat this a.m.?

Ok. I know our prez wants to elevate political discourse, and he is absolutely correct.

    I’m going to do better…

  4. He really got caught looking like dumb dora after the press spent so much time fluffing him up as “courageous,” only to have President Obama burst his bubble in the “naw, son” to end all “naw, son”s. And in public too. Politicians: stop thinking that the dc village=the country. President Obama is correct in that his approach is sensible; the GOP’s is radical and they’re really hearing it.

  5. In one town hall meeting a man asked what about his grandma? Folks aren’t having it; they know that medicare and medicaid are not the reasons for the deficit.

  6. It’s those cuts coupled with the tax cuts for the rich which are really doing them in. For all of the people who are fretting right now; the RyanCare Speech masterpiece<———POTUS set this up. Let the man POTUS go about his business, because he's doing a terrific job.

  7. Go Gibbs

I hope the press continue to press “the Donald” on this issue, the issue of declaring bankruptcies, etc etc.

    On a more upbeat note.

I have a posting today about a sports and recreation center that installed solar panels. The owner of the company mentions President Obama in his remarks to the press.

I have also included a video clip of our wonderful president talking about solar energy.

Share this story with everyone you know.

  8. I love Michelle’s dress too and I would love to see brilliant colors begin to flash across the landscape on people’s bodies, especially during the long Wisconsin winter. When will Americans begin to dress more like “Monsoon Wedding” rather than “The Triplets of Belville”?

  9. Hey BWD, everyone…

Believe it or not, I just woke up from my Nyqil induced coma to realize what was going on in the world today!

And as sad as I first was to see the President had decided to placate morons, fools, and racists, I was then amazed by the speech the President gave, the likes of which I had only seen in yes, “The American President.”

No script, no notes. Just a President in full, calling out the leading GOP nominee as a “sideshow” and “Carnival barker.”

He took racist lemons and ground them into lemonade.

I’m proud of the President today.

  10. He also helped the GOP Presidential field out greatly. He could have let this fester and assured his re-election, but he wants a serious opposition and run on ideas and ideals and have the American people choose.

  11. Not so sure about that, sr. Trump is *not* a serious candidate and IMO has no intention of running; POTUS was just stating the obvious. Trump’s actually only marginally worse than some of his fellow Republican contenders, and his instantly popularity with the GOP base is a very bad sign for GOP moderates. I think that POTUS’ message was more aimed at the press: let the clowns get back into their birther car and re-direct your attention back onto substance. The GOP has a huge birther problem, we know it as a country and have noted it; now it’s time to move on. Masterful.

  12. Unless the GOP has somebody else hiding under a rock who hasn’t declared their current ship of fools don’t have a chance against the president. Of course, will vote for a rock with an “R” behind it, but the GOP is sorely lacking in a strong contender at this time, birther or no birther distraction.

  14. SIOUX FALLS, SD — On Friday April 29, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will be in South Dakota to highlight the successful partnerships on which the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) is building the proposed Dakota Grassland Conservation Area, a new unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System which will conserve prairie landscapes, wildlife resources and working lands in the Prairie Pothole Region, an area that supports more than half of the nation’s migratory waterfowl.

  15. Not Trump, but Romney, Daniels, Pawlenty and the like who were getting painted into a corner by the birthers – now I have no sympathy for the folks who played up to it, but I think there are some on the right who know the birthers are fringe nutters but they make up a sizeable enough portion that they’d need to be catered to and some might not have got in for that reason, or might not have got any foothold if they did run because they weren’t willing to pander.

Of course there is still the hardcore birther who will believe the b/c is faked, but I think this will effectively end the Fox obsession with it, which will kill all MSM interest in it, and will leave it up to the fringe sites and early morning AM radio.

  16. I think you are partially correct. This was also a challenge to the republican candidates not to bring this up, which actually puts them in a tough spot. When you look at comment sections to a lot of articles on this there is a lot of denial still going on and that 27% of Republicans who believe that he was born in Kenya probably still will. A Republican candidate is going to be hard pressed to win in a primary without their support, but at the same time, it will be hard to win in the general if they use this as a means to get that support.

  17. It’s getting really tense for the Republicans when a former Bush cabinet member calls them terrorists:

Ex-Bush official: Those who would block debt hike are like al Qaeda

By Daniel Strauss – 04/27/11 01:34 PM ET

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill compared lawmakers trying to block a debt-ceiling increase to terrorists.

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill compared lawmakers trying to block raising the debt ceiling to “al Qaeda terrorists.”

“The people who are threatening not to pass the debt ceiling are our version of al Qaeda terrorists. Really,” O’Neill, Treasury secretary in the Republican administration of George W. Bush, said Wednesday in an interview with Bloomberg Television’s InBusiness with Margaret Brennan.

“They’re really putting our whole society at risk by threatening to round up 50 percent of the members of the Congress, who are loony, who would put our credit at risk,” O’Neill said.”

BWD – you might want to make this one rather prominent!!!

    WOW, simply, WOW.

  18. More than 1,200 students, teachers and Scouts recently planted 4,500 trees at the Monument Fire Center on the Pike National Forest in Celebration of the International Year of Forests and as part of an ongoing restoration project in the area. The event brought elementary school students from Rockrimmon and Discovery Canyon Campus schools in Colorado Springs, Colo., to learn about forests, the role of fire in the ecosystem and how forests protect water. Another 1,500 trees were planted by Boy and Girl Scouts from the area.

“The kids learned about wildlife, soils, and how the forest operates and what part they play in it,” said Brent Botts of the Pikes Peak District Ranger. Each day, 500 children gathered at the Fire Center eager to learn and, of course, plant a tree. “I like planting trees because it helps the forest,” said Justin Ballard, 8. “Trees help clean the air, and they are pretty.”

  19. Trump is a Turd. i cant think of anything else to add about that.

I love the first lady; and her dresses/shoes, both are always colorful and glamorous…

awesome news about the solar energy stuff WiW.

  20. BTW: Just a note about thursdays GDP quarter 1 data, it does not look good. Most analysts have it pegged at 1.9%, because of Japan and the awful winter.

And, you know, the republicans will blame this president for that, too.

  21. The GOP is circus without a ringmaster. A freakshow with no adult supervision.

I think what the President did today, whether he intended to or not, is to highlight the racist underpinnings of so many on the right.

  22. Why is Ezra Klein going on TV trashing the president by calling him a 90’s republican and that Progresives are pissed at Obama.

First of all what moderate 90’s republicans ? Kay Bailey Hutchinson ? LMAO !

Obama is a pragmatic liberal who has accomplished more than any Democrat since LBJ and if you took the records of Carter and Clinton combined it wouldn’t come close to Obama’s.

Also 85 % of liberals approve of Obama and about 70 % of them think he is just right when it comes to his political ideology and actions.

I am so sick of idiots like Ezra Klein who do nothing put write and talk but can’t work for a living like everyone else if their life depended on it.

  23. Agriculture Secretary Vilsack, NFL Quarterback Sam Bradford Urge Native American Youth to Get Active

Washington, April 27, 2011—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack welcomed St. Louis Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford to the Agriculture Department today and joined him in urging Native American youth to spend the summer pursuing healthy outdoor activities. Bradford, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, participated with over 30 Native American students at USDA’s People’s Garden in planting a Native American garden, called The Roots of American Agriculture.

“Through programs like ‘Fuel Up to Play 60’ and Let’s Move!, the Obama administration is helping get kids active in order to help them have a healthy future,” said Vilsack. “Our partners at the NFL and across the country are key to engaging kids in an exciting way that teaches them that physical activity can be fun, while also important to their health.”

Bradford and Vilsack noted that a recent study of four year-old children found that obesity is more than twice as common among American Indian/Alaska Native children than among white or Asian children. In 2002, nearly 15 percent of those receiving care from the United States Indian Health Service (IHS) were estimated to have diabetes.

  24. The basic argument Klein is making, which has some degree of merit, is that Obama is dealing with a really radical Republican Party. The HCR and immigration reform he has proposed were both very similar to plans that had been put forward by Republicans in the 90’s and even just a few years ago. His main argument is that progressives really shouldn’t be upset at Obama because if he had trouble doing this, due to the radicalness of the republicans, how was he to do anything more.

  25. Right, japa, the entire country has been moving steadily to the right since Reagan, and the President has at least 30 years of rightward movement to dismantle. I am hopeful that the American people are beginning to awaken to what is actually at stake, and I think this is no accident that this is happening during an Obama Presidency. The President, like Howard Dean before him, believes in empowering the people to act for themselves, which is the surest way for true and lasting change to occur.

  26. BTW: Not the liberal democrats, they are not pissed at this president. It is the liberal wing that considers themselves to be in the green party, that is pissed at the President!

You know, the pl and the bloggers who write crap, are green party types and not democrats.

  27. SR, beg to disagree. He’s not doing any such thing. He is taking it to NBC as everyone should be for allowing Chump to spew the hate at the President.

  28. It’s funny how the Republicans are embracing a celebrity as a potential nominee for President with Trump, but it was not long ago in 2008 when they attacked Mr. Obama for being a celebrity figure and stated “We don’t need celebrities in the White House.”

What this whole birther nonsense boils down to is closeted racism, even if they deny it. Why haven’t they questioned the birth records of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton?

This birther nonsense is exactly why I REFUSE to look at the MSM. Instead of talking about the relevant issues that matter, they promote Donald Trump like he’s the Messiah. Heck, it’s the same MSM that fawned over Sarah Palin, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, and Mel Gibson, as well as the Tea Party lunatics.

Mr. Obama was right to call them “carnival barkers” and state “We don’t have time for this silliness.” Instead of working on issues like the debt ceiling battle and the FY2012 battle, he has to resort to defending his citizenship.

These same birther loons complained about the obsession over President George W. Bush’s military records, but yet they are obsessed over President Obama’s birth certificate and his school records. What a bullshit double standard.

But as I pointed out, it’s all closeted racism, which is just plain sad. To use a quote from the Obama administration, there is no silver bullet for these lunatics.

  29. Aka the UNprofessional left.

They love calling themselves “the angry left,” and it’s telling that most of their anger is focused on Mr. Obama as opposed to Donald Trump and his enablers. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of them jump on the birther bandwagon as well, seeing as a lot of the UNprofessional left are closeted racists just like the birthers.

  30. Well you guys make a strong point that this country has moved to the right since 1980, and I have said that a number of times.

But in terms of healthcare reform the bill he put out there is similar not to the Nixon healthcare plan in the 70’s that he tried to work with Congress and Ted Kennedy before Watergate did him in.

That plan was going to be a bipartisan bill. And the Dole plan, Hillary Care in the 90’s, Obamacare, and Hillary’s plan in 2008 are all based on that bill.
So when people say the Dole bill all Bob Dole did was steal the idea from Nixon’s bill in the 70’s with some minor differences.

But I will say that getting a bill like this wa the only way to get reform throug and to make additional changes/ improvements over time.

  31. Well, I guess I am “girly and trivial” too and even though I am too old to wear shoes like that any more, I also wish I could. She wore another pair a while back that I just drooled over.

She always looks so good. She has great style, knows exactly what looks good on her, and wears what she likes. I love it!

  32. Certainly not to let them off the hook, but there is no way NBC would pull the The Apprentice episodes off the air. Now they better not re-sign him for more seasons, as the contract is up after this last season.

The worst was Viera letting Trump get away with his garbage in that morning interview.

  33. And to be clear I’ve mentioned here a few times that the folks who went after Beck’s advertisers should go after The Apprentices as well. I’m not saying not to blame NBC, but just not only NBC as this person seemed to indicate he was doing.

  34. Now if Ezra said that Obama was more like a 70’s republican then I could understand that because the country has moved far to the right over the past 3 decades.

Nixon was actually the last big time progressive president if you look at his Domcestic policies according to historians.

Nixon and his wife Pat approved and defended Roe V Wade and abortion rights, He signed Title X into law, made upgrade to Social Security, the creation of the EPA, new regulation on the oil and gas industry, price and wage control, supporting affirmative action, proposing Universal healthcare.

And now we have Obama trying to reverse the conservative trend.

  35. A few scattered showers didn’t dampen spirits at a Maryland Earth Day event to highlight the completion of the improved Worton Wastewater Treatment Plant, Tuesday April 19.

“This is a great example of a public-private partnership working to help restore and protect the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries,” Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Cheryl Cook said. “USDA is especially proud of its efforts to help fund upgrades and improvements to local wastewater disposal systems which directly impact the Bay.”

The ceremony took place at Piccadilly Farm located about 2 miles from Worton’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that is owned and operated by Kent County Commissioners. The $11.5 million upgrades to the WWTP were funded by USDA Rural Development and the Maryland Department of the Environment. The “state of the art” system is in compliance with more stringent regulations to eliminate the discharge of treated effluent into Morgan Creek, located near the Middle Chester River. The treated effluent will be put into use on agriculture fields at Piccadilly Farm owned by the Dill family. The spray irrigation site at Piccadilly Farm, includes a holding pond, pump station, and five center-pivot irrigation units that can apply treated wastewater over 75 acres of farmland.

  36. Obama Administration Affirms Comprehensive Commitment to Clean Water

WASHINGTON, April 27, 2011 – Recognizing the importance of clean water and healthy watersheds to our economy, environment and communities, the Obama Administration released a national clean water framework today that showcases its comprehensive commitment to protecting the health of America’s waters. The framework emphasizes the importance of partnerships and coordination with states, local communities, stakeholders, and the public to protect public health and water quality, and promote the nation’s energy and economic security.

For nearly 40 years, the Clean Water Act, along with other important Federal measures, has been a cornerstone of our effort to ensure that Americans have clean and healthy waters. The Administration’s framework outlines a series of actions underway and planned across Federal agencies to ensure the integrity of the waters Americans rely on every day for drinking, swimming, and fishing, and that support farming, recreation, tourism and economic growth. It includes draft Federal guidance to clarify which waters are protected by the Clean Water Act nationwide; innovative partnerships and programs to improve water quality and water efficiency; and initiatives to revitalize communities and economies by restoring rivers and critical watersheds.

“Clean water and healthy waterways are vital to the health and vibrancy of our communities and the strength of our economy,” said Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. “Working with our partners across communities, governments and sectors, we are taking comprehensive action to ensure Americans have the clean and healthy waters they need and deserve.”

  37. Agriculture Secretary Vilsack, NFL Quarterback Sam Bradford Urge Native American Youth to Get Active

Washington, April 27, 2011—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack welcomed St. Louis Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford to the Agriculture Department today and joined him in urging Native American youth to spend the summer pursuing healthy outdoor activities. 38. Agreed. Trump is a joke. He’s been trying to get media attention for his stupid reality show which has really lost viewers and was in danger of being canceled. He’s just a big mouthed opportunist and not a serious candidate.

15 minutes of fame….he got way too much attention and now he is ‘over’ I hope they cancel his show.

Barack Obama has no serious Republican contenders. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, support his re-election and work our butts off locally to get him a decent Senate and House of Reps to work with.

  39. No, it doesn’t work – there’s no video, just a link. Well it doesn’t matter because I would like for BWD to post this video to her blog anyway.

  40. Great story—thanks for bringing it to our attention. Sadly the dr. who delivered him died before Obama became well-known but his wife and son are just thrilled to find out their dad was the dr. and, as it turns out, enthusiastic Obama voters.

  41. PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Federal grant money will soon be paying for various projects aimed at improving everything from roads to horse corrals within the Prescott National Forest.

The Daily Courier reports a new citizens group called the Yavapai County Resource Advisory Committee recommended awarding nearly $600,000 to 14 of the 40 grant applicants.

The supervisor of the Prescott National Forest accepted the committee’s recommendations.

Forest Service guidelines require the grant money is used for improvements to the ecosystem and infrastructure.

Some of the projects given grant money include a riparian habitat in the Upper Verde River and improvements to Senator Highway south of Prescott.

    Arizona, you say?

  42. KH…I’m just laughing out loud at your comment…perfect. Zero segue work of art. Thank you…wiping away tears of laughter.

  43. SR, yes he’s giving cover for presidential candidates to put birtherism behind them. But what PBO did today was not about politics. It was about what’s good for America. He’s putting country first, as he always does.

He realized that things were getting out of hand and that he couldn’t count on republican leadership nor on the MSM to stop the toxic from getting out in the mainstream. So, once again, he had to be the one to stop the madness. And seeing that Gibbs is calling out Trump today, it’s pretty clear the Obama team has decided they have to destroy Trump’s ability to do even more damage to the national climate. I mean… they have to totally discredit him before he goes on about school records, doubts about who authored “Dreams from my father” , etc…

America is in a difficult place right now and racial tensions could get worse than they already are. President Obama is saying “enough” and is gently but firmly reminding political leaders and people in the media that they have to take their responsabilities.

  44. This is why ezra klein is being a tratior:
Ralph Nader is convinced that Barack Obama will win reelection in 2012, but that won’t stop him from trying to organize a slate of Democrats in the coming months to challenge the president in party primaries next year.

Nader told POLITICO on Wednesday that he is working on bringing together about half a dozen presidential candidates who could “dramatically expand a robust discussion within the Democratic Party and among progressive voters across the country.” Each would focus on a specific issue where the far left says Obama hasn’t done enough, including the environment, labor and health care.

    Read more:

    Nader is a Dick.

  45. Right on, Bob! Let’s spread this as far and wide as we can. I already sent it out on my own personal net work.

I hope everyone here reads your post and spreads it even further.

Someone here said they had 10,000 Twitter followers…TWITTER AND TWEET! PLEASE!

  46. Yup – Ezra is a lost soul these days — I used to pay a little bit of attention to his writing but no more . . It was clear he was in the bag with the bad guys when he bashed President Obama’s budget deal without having a clue as to its contents.

  47. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if Trump, after all his antics, LOST his show instead of saving it ?

  48. Deep as f**k. I will be sending this to my friends indeed. tbqh tho ever since GOP Rep. Joe Wilson yelled from his seat, “you lie”, while potus was giving HCR speech in front of CONGRESS, nothing surprises or “hurts” me but the emotion in this clip is eye opening to say the least.

  49. BWD, here ya go… 😉

In 2009, GOPTeaParty “dished it out.” But, they can’t “take the ‘Hands Off My Medicare’ heat”:

@GottaLaff: Rep. Paul Ryan has “heckler security issue” at town halls…

YES. WE. CAN, Again Make 2008 History ….Obama/Biden 2012!

  50. I just watched it. The video works. Thanks for bringing it our attention. I plan to forward it.

  51. This just shows how this has affected so many people-black, white, hispanic, etc., that the media would allow the crazys to dominate the airwaves for “ratings”. This is all about entertainment for them.

  52. I let out a large guffaw when the president implied Trump was a “carnival barker.” I’m still giggling as I type this. It’s the perfect phrase to describe people like Trump.

On a serious note, the media should be ashamed of themselves. I see that they’re all rushing to blame everyone else for making the “birther” topic headline news.

  53. Well, they better bring their A game cuz in case Nader wasn’t paying attention, the Obama campaign is gearing up to fight in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. If these people want to get into the primary, they better start staffing up and raising money.

  54. God is working in mysterious ways sometimes. This story is absolutely wonderful. We were all sad and mad this morning. And then look at this… the publication of this long birth certificate is transformed into a JOYFUL event. A family whose members are SUPPORTERS of President Obama and who are now so PROWD and so HAPPY to learn they are linked to him in a wonderful way !!!!

    Just wow.

Folks, make this story go VIRAL !!!!!

  55. Really ? So Nader want a Democrat to primary Obama so bad because he hasn’t tackled everything in terms of healthcare, labor, and the environment. Though a primary will only help Republicans and not Democrats and people on the left.

LMAO ! When will the far left wake up and see Nader as the phony that he is. All he doe is try to help Republicans get elected by causing a problem during an election. But he never tackles issues before or after the election with the party.

    Nader a Republicans best friend.

  56. Jovie, could you repost the sun catalytix video in this thread so I can ask AMK to educate me about what the heck the guy in the video is talking about? Thanks.

  57. your link had &rel=0 at the end of it instead the embed code. If you got the link from The Obama Diary, that’s were the &rel=0 comes from. That code won’t embed…it’s meant to prevent other creepy videos from showing up at the end.

  58. You don’t need any tags – just the straight youtube link (just what would be in the address bar – not even the embed code) is all you need to post and it automatically embeds.

  59. Merideath Viera is nothing more that a brunet talking Barbie head. If she had a real brain she would take it out and look at it in wonder.

    She’s double stupid!

  60. please pass it on boycott CNN tonight John King is having Donald chump on. Pass it on

  61. Our media share a lot in common with the Republicans in that neither group ever admits their own culpability for anything. They know very well that they deserved a dressing down for their behavior but they will do their best to deflect from that and try blaming someone else for it. Just like the republicans have been spending the day trying to spin it as somehow the President’s fault that the whole birther issue has been up front and prominent in republican talking points. They can try but it won’t work. People know who keeps bringing it up, the press and the republicans and it isn’t the president.

  62. I think he is probably toast….served up with whipped cream and a cherry on top.

  63. The debt ceiling has the establishment wing of the republican party scared. They know this isn’t an issue to play around with but they have encouraged and abetted the crazy wing for so long they have lost control of them and they are in a big bind. They can pressure the tea partiers to go along but it will anger their base big time.

  64. Wow. This should be sent to every news outlet.

I bet Donald Trump will pay during his life. I think he’ll lose his show on NBC. And nobody who has any sense of dignity will want to be associated with him. Just watch.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You know… I’m totally computer illiterate and I don’t have a youtube account. But I’m wondering if you could send to the author of the video the links to the articles about the family of Dr. Sinclair, the doctor who delivered baby Obama fifty years ago. They just learned the fact today when they saw the birth certificate. They are strong supporters of President Obama and they’re very excited to learn that their family is linked to President Obama in such a wonderful way. Like I said uptread, God works in mysterious ways. Even in these sad circumstances, there’s this message of pride and joy that can comfort us.

  65. I like this story. I didn’t know Sam Bradford was Cherokee. Thanks, Jovie.

-–PJ (BOYCOTT THE MEDIA. Stop helping them attack your President!)

  66. LOL! Bob Schieffer of CBS just called Trump a racist for asking to see Obama’s grades.
And yes I will be boycotting CNN just like I emailed NBC and said I was boycotting their entire network until Trump leaves. Really. Which advertisers are going to pay to be on Celebrity Apprentice?

  67. Schieffer actually said that? Wow. He’s the elder statesman of CBS News, and his words carry weight in the Village. Leave it to PBO to turn lemons into lemonade.

  68. This is fantastic, and by the way Donald did you listened to PBO when he said THIS IS A CARNIVAL OF BARKERS SHOW, the American people is not buying this BS,so Donald shows your TAX returns you promised.

  69. Let’s Email Rachael to keep pressing this AH for his tax returns I hope she does.

  70. Ben Bernake has said it will come in under 2% as well. It’s going to be a bad # overall.

  71. That is the cutest story lol, you can tell that she is so tickled and is spreading the news throughout her entire family. If I were her, I’d be so proud of that, it would become family folklore; congratulations, Family Sinclair!

  72. Seriously; that stupid theory that we can move the country left by lying about President Obama being a Republican. Yawn. Wonder what happened to just telling the truth straight up with no hidden overton window agendas. Like gg, I think Klein’s overrated and this hasn’t been the first time I’ve thought so.

  73. GOP’s between a rock and a hard place. Birther ct is clearly wildly popular with the base, as Mr. Trump’s ascendancy proved, and is reprehensible to everyone else. Let them navigate that minefield; in the meantime, this country has better things to do than to obsess about the fringe. That’s what I think that POTUS was saying.

  74. I don’t even think Trump was being genuine; but he certainly kept the birther issue front and center…

  75. I watched, and Everybody Is outraged. Shameful Is the word, SHAMEFUL! Thanks for the Link

  76. What I don’t understand is why Democrats have not attacked these birthers as unAmerican because PBO (and all other candidates) had to produce a birth certificate to run in 2008.

So was the State Department, FBI ,DOJ and all the campaign investigators of Democrats in the primaries or Republican ones in the general clueless or part of the conspiracy?

Are they impugning the integrity and credibility of its Federal Institutions? Don’t they respect America’s institutions? Doing this is unAmerican acoording to them.

  77. Tomorrow’s headline at the UK Independent “The Day America Look Leave of its Senses” –

With a picture of Obama’s birth certificate. Good for the UK media to call out the lunatics. Let’s see if the US media acknowledges it.

  78. How utterly humiliating for us as a nation. Why anyone still listens to us and follows us is a mystery to me.

  79. And what people are going to be willing to be on that show? Doesn’t the very presence of these contestants call into question their own belief systems? What am I saying? People who go on his show have no shame. Never mind.

  80. HOw did you do that? How did you embed that video? I tried to do it earlier but couldn’t.

  81. Lawrence O’Donnell is on fire tonight!

He is demanding that NBC should tell The Donald to STFU, The Donald’s show is on the Fall Line up, or Fire Him!

  82. YES!!! The first 15 minutes of Lawrence O’Donnell are a MUST-SEE. BWD, can you post the first segment of tonight’s ” The Last Word” as soon as it becomes available and you are able to?

  83. He’s holding NBC accountable for the “Monster” that they have created and enabled in this racist bigotry of Chump. Chuckie Todd, we’re looking at you too!!

  84. I don’t know why Lawrence O’Donnell had that crazy nasty smelly Oily Taste birther on live under the pretense that she would discuss the revealing of PBO’s long form birth certificate. This woman petitioned courts across the country and the supreme court to challenge the president’s citizenship. He should have had her on tape. He should know better to believe a lying crazy birther.

  85. Yeah this makes America lose every kind of respect and we are back to being idiots again. Man we are the joke of the world and some of us are so proud of this shit. I have been so upset today and that video just broke my heart even more.

  86. Thank you! Not only his sponsors, but also the show itself, and the corporate news media, should be boycotted as well.

But this is a good first step :-).

–-PJ (BOYCOTT THE MEDIA. Stop helping them attack your President!)

  87. We did that in 2000, Nader, you idiot. Gave us the horrid reign of George Bush The Lesser.

We won’t again fall for the banana in the tailpipe!

–-PJ (BOYCOTT THE MEDIA. Stop helping them attack your President!)

    Executive Vice President, Publicity
    NBC Universal
    Kathy Kelly-Brown
Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications & Media Relations

  89. Thanks Donna, I just sent them an email and expressed my disgust for their man Trump and the network enabling an American Racist.

  90. Thank you, Bobfr – I was just coming onto the blog to post Douglas Brinkley’s call to Dump Trump. Also watching Lawrence O’Donnell’s show on MSNBC tonight (which I gave up along with the rest of ’em a long time ago), and he is definitely going after Trump. Big Time. David Remnick of “The New Yorker” is also on O’Donnell’s show.

  91. So did I. They had better get Trump off their lineup quickly. Remember that MSNBC took Don Imus off the air immediately for his racist comments. This is too much.

  92. Excellent coment, lovepolitics2008! It is now up to the media, and Republican leaders who wish to be taken seriously, to ignore this “birtherism” nonsense. The President was not naive in expecting “birtherism” to go away. What he did to day is call on people who claim to be responsible to stop aiding and abating the crazies.

Donald Trump, a spoiled self indulgent, and self-proclaimed billionaire, con man chose to to join the crazies; probably as a publicity stunt to shore up his show’s ratings. But since his potential candidate was taken seriously, according the polls, and the wall-to wall coverage he received from MSM, I think the President did the right thing in highlighting the “silliness” of this “birther” nonsense before it got completely out of hand.

  93. Luckily, I’ve been boycotting CNN, MSNBC, and the PL blogs for months and months. John King is worse than the ambulance chaser I thought him to be, for having Trump on his show. I turned on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show tonight for the first time in months – thinking I’d be disappointed – but he’s doing a Keith Olbermann and really laying it on thick about the racist Trump.

  94. Thanks for sharing Bobfr! Finally Truth tellers are beginning to show up to expose the insanity of many GOP members of Congress who put political ideology and party domination above the national interests.

  95. Many thanks for posting this video. I have been in tears today, too, over this. This morning when I saw President Obama stand at the podium to offer his long formed birth certificate, I felt a shame as a white woman that I can’t even express. And I wrote on one post, this was a shameful day for America. This young man in the video has expressed it in a way that I can never express.

His remarks are heartbreakingly true. whew.

  96. LL – I’m shamed personally about all of the bigots in our country; want to just hang my head because of them. I feel so bad that African Americans and others have to feel this kind of horrible bigotry – not in 1811 or 1911, but in 2011.

The decency of President Obama knows no bounds, so I’m holding onto that for dear life – trying to let his actions guide me.

But, as a great grandmother wishing for a more perfect union for my grandkids, if I could walk up to the Donald Trumps of the world tomorrow and slap them squarely in the face, I would do it.

  97. Agree, Kay and africa.

I just posted the following at Jack and Jill Politics to honor the most deserving Baratunde Thurston (Jack Turner) who created the video:

Baratunde Thurston (Jack Turner) this 64 y/o, white male, born in South Texas – an outspoken supporter of MLK and RFK Jr in the 60s in South Texas when that meant ensuring lots of other white folk hated me – who long since departed those environs to pursue medicine, science in order to bring a better life to all those who never had the opportunities I had – HONOR YOU, this day, for your courage, for your insights, for your wisdom.

Long, long, long ago, I understood that no matter how much I truly empathized with my black and brown beloved colleagues, I was totally incapable of ever understanding what it must be like to be hated and feared, merely because of the hue of skin. So, I learned never to presume to have even the slightest clue what it must be like to be you, to be any black or brown person whom has ever lived.

But, from that perspective I also can share with you the most profound disgust for any ‘white’ person who presumed superiority merely because they happened to have been born ‘white.’ That is something this ‘white’ person can speak with authority – I AM SUPERIOR TO NO PERSON – not only because that my skin happens to be ‘white’ but because – NO PERSON IS SUPERIOR TO ANY OTHER PERSON. PERIOD.

I extend love, a cascade of tears, and an unrelenting commitment to support our President Obama and the dreams and rights of EVERY person.

Thank you for the gift of your video, your passion, your openness, and I will do everything I can to be sure that every person hears your message.

    Thank you!

  98. Very well said GN! Except for some aspects of Health Care Reform (e.g. individual mandates), what exactly are “90’s Republican” ideas/policies that President Obama has pursued or implemented?

I challenge any one to show me concrete evidence that proves that President Obama is less progressive, and more Republican, than the previous Democratic Presidents of the 20th Century!

Ezra Klein’s assertions about President Obama being a “90s Republican,” were, in my judgement, very simplistic. Somehow Klein completely erases from memory the fact that the leaders of the “90’s Republicans” were people like Newt Gingrich, Tom “the Hammer” Delay; Trent Lott, and Mitch McConnell.

Moreover, is Ezra Klein suggesting that President Obama is more conservative than President Clinton? If that is what he claims, he needed to provide a detailed comparison of their policies to support his claims.

  99. Really Fantastic! Thanks for sharing this clip Bob. I am glad to see sane people finally coming out in the open to challenge this self indulgent millionaire/billionaire charlatan.

  100. I haven’t been around lately because I consciously stepped away from the Internet, TV, and personal acquaintances to regain a sense of balance in my life and peace of mind. I came here first to see what you all were discussing and to find out about current events that I’ve missed.

I want to cry about what’s happening with the POTUS and I’ve never felt that way before simply because I knew that he could handle whatever came his way with grace and dignity. But THIS…

THIS makes my heart hurt and shows me that our country is far worse than I ever thought it was, and that’s saying a lot given what I’ve witnessed during my lifetime. At the moment, I can’t articulate how I’m feeling. I guess I don’t have any words that would do justice to what has transpired. However, the young man in the video summed it up beautifully.

I’d like to know if we’re ready now to use Bobfr’s strategy to push back against the lies, distortion, and misinformation that is being peddled 24/7. I sincerely believe that if we don’t push back hard now against the media and whomever else is complicit, that we may as well face the fact that we never will. If we aren’t motivated to act after this travesty, please tell me when and what it will take before we, as a group of blogs which support the POTUS, will do something about it.

In my opinion, we shouldn’t just Rethink Possible we should make it happen! Bobfr- Please let me know how I can help you in any way to get your strategy up and running.

Keep your heads up people because there’s work to be done…

    Peace be with you all.

  101. I wrote them too. I told them that I am telling everyone I know to boycott any NBC-affiliated program.

I told them that by their silence, it appears they are sanctioning Donald Trump’s actions.

I think everyone of us should write them. As well, I think those who watch that stupid show of his should stop watching him.

I read somewhere yesterday, where his ratings have been tanking. I hope it continues down into the poop house.
