  6. “girl?” = “girl!” (Exclamation, not question mark. I was so excited for you that I typed the wrong punction mark.

  7. Congratulations! Thanks to Chipsticks, BWD, and other pragmatic progressives we now have sites that inform, inspire, and give us hope and determination to keep fighting for change! We will win the future. Love the post that the tea party was outnumbered today in Wisconsin 30-35:1! Yes we can!

  8. Congrats Chipsticks

You are the queen of video clips, past and present. I am amazed at how many videos you place on your site each day. Very cool. Virtual hugs

  9. Wow! I’ve only listened to NPR today, but there was NO mention of the disparity in the numbers. It sounded like two equal groups.
grrrrr. The mainstream media strikes out again. thanks for posting this!

  10. Recall in Wisconsin.

“Here are the senators with their district numbers, city of residence, and total votes needed to cause a recall election:

District 2 – Robert Cowles (Green Bay) – needs 15,800 signatures

8 – Alberta Darling (River Hills) – needs 20,300 signatures

10 – Sheila Harsdorf (River Hills) – needs 15,500 signatures

    14 – Luther Olsen (Ripon) – needs 14,500 signatures

18 – Randy Hopper (Fond du Lac) – needs 15,268 signatures

20 – Glenn Grothman (West Bend) – needs 20,000 signatures

28 – Mary Lazich (New Berlin) – needs 20,900 signatures

32 – Dan Kapanke (La Crosse) – needs 15,400 signatures

(EDIT – signature numbers corrected to reflect approximate 2010 gubernatorial election numbers. Thanks ajwagner!)

Recall elections could be held in four months or less. Flipping just three of these eight seats would flip the senate back into Democratic hands, and three of these senators won their last election with 51% or less of the vote.”

Here’s the Facebook link to recall eight GOP Senators in Wisconsin:

    http://www.facebook.com/recallwirepubs?sk=wall

Who knew that Wisconsin, which had become a symbol for the reversal of Democratic fortunes in the November midterms, would end up reviving and galvanizing Democrats across the country?

Imagine: if we Democrats can collectively and successfully recall GOP Senators in Wisconsin, what other state legislatures among the 53% that flipped to GOP in November can we flip to Democratic?

From Tahrir to Wisconsin, we are witnessing an exciting and authentic moment in people power. Let’s do this. Let’s go change the world.

  11. I’ll toast to that! I love both of you! I’m clicking back and forth as fast as I can—-I am forever grateful for the dedication and hard work of both bwd and chipsticks. Cheers!

  12. Yes, I read an msnbc article that essentially made it seem like it was an equal mix of both sides protesting.

  13. Congratulations Chipsticks:-)

A Million Folds More to come. Thank you so much for all your dedication in putting the best news for all of us here.

A Special Thank you to Blackwaterdog I just simply want to say “Thank you”

    Much Love🙂

  14. Congrats to Chipsticks! I loved her from the heady days of DU and now she’s kicking ass on her own!

There’s also another really great pro-Obama blog called “Positively Barack” it’s been around since the ’08 campaign.

    http://www.positivelybarack.com/

  15. You’ll hit a million sooner than you know! Love your site. One of my daily must-go-to sites.

  16. After seeing how powerful the advertising campaigns big corporations can wage against this kind of legislation, I wouldn’t hold out much hope of any bill a) passing b) passing but not being repealed on ballot.

  17. That seems so irresponsible. I mean, I was listening carefully, and there was not one shred of information that would lead you to believe one crowd was THAT MUCH bigger than the other.
    That in itself is news.
What are they thinking? And that’s NPR?? Please.

  18. They’ll be lobbying against breast feeding next. I think they already are. Didn’t someone say that Michelle Obama was trying to FORCE ALL WOMEN to breast feed because the milk prices were so high.
I’m sure the First Lady must just shake her head when she hears nonsense like that. What can you say?

  19. Congrats to Chipsticks!

Saw this on my local news here in the DC area:

    Print Share Buzz up!2retweet0diggsdigg

ASSOCIATED PRESS President Obama traded in his Commander in Chief title today, for the title of Coach. The president spent part of the day Saturday coaching his daughter Sasha’s basketball team.

Mr. Obama filling in for the parent who usually coaches the team who was out sick.

The president also earned some extra “Good Dad Points” with today’s guest coaching appearance. Ironically, Sasha was not even playing in the game. She, Malia, Michelle, and some friends are out skiing in Colorado.

Playing pick-up games of basketball is one of the President’s favorite recreational activities. Last November Mr. Obama received 12 stitches after he was hit in the face by an elbow during a game with some friends and staffers.

No word on who won today’s game. The media was not allowed inside the community center in Chevy Chase where the game took place.

  20. Ah, my beloved BWD – you know, I don’t think I’ve blushed since I was 16 (I’ve been disgracefully shameless ever since), but my cheeks sizzled when I got my email link to this post. Thank you for your loveliness, you’re something else. And thank you too for the inspiration that continues to be The Only Adult In The Room, you’ve created something truly special here that is utterly unrivalled. Damn well love ya girl! Talk soon.

  21. Let her keep her site stats on the low. I love subtlety and the merits of flying way beneath the radar.

  22. We all love you too, Chipsticks!
😀😀 This is fun – knowing that two of your ‘favouritest’ sites love, respect and support each other! I look forward to the continued growth of more and more pro-Obama sites as 2011 progresses.

  23. Wow! And that was NPR, the supposed liberal station. I watched evening news on tv and found a very similar scenario. They seemed to equate the crowds by only saying the total number and not mentioning the antiprotestors were bussed in from Virginia and that there were many less of them. They interviewed the antiprotestors only. It sounded like it was a done deal with the legislation on the tv news report. I am so sorry for them and wish they could prevail especially with being able to negotiate.

I have read many of the antiprotestors comments about the protestors and their tax money paying the teachers and the teachers’ greed. They are sickening. There seems to be jealousy involved from the other side and the fact that teachers have many years of college, Masters degrees, grad credits and are paid less than other professions doesn’t seem to register with them. I will say my own parents had similar ideas and in my teaching days I felt misunderstood and abandoned by their attitude.

In teaching unlike other professions private jobs are less financially rewarding than public jobs. The healthcare and benefits in some ways made up some for the downsized pay. I know after my husband died it was hard for me to make ends meet on my pay.

  24. Hi gn,

Thanks for the welcome. Saw your reply in the ast few blogs. lol!, but if things came across as harsh, my apologies. Peace to you. :hi:

  25. Congrats to Chipsticks! You bring us such joy. I don’t often comment, but I know that each time I go to your site – there is a celebration of some sort in the making! What a treasure your site, and this one, are for so many!

  26. I’m glad that someone is reporting the actions the President is taking to help calm things down and allow people to demonstrate peacefully. It’s quite heartening to hear about the joy in the streets of Bahrain. Barack Obama is a good man.

  27. I was just watching the GOP-slanted program on NBC just now (A woman filling in for Chris Matthews)and she claimed that polls show NJ gov Chris Christie the only Republican beating Barack Obama. Is that true, or is this based on one skewed poll?

As usual, they have a bunch of anti-OBama, pro-GOP pundits (including Huffington Hack Howard Fineman) to give their slanted anti-Obama analysis.

  28. Hello my fellow Californian,

I am so glad the people of WI and Fl will try to recall these obviously bad politicians who have no knowledge or experience in running a government. This is the reason Citizens United needs to be overturned. People were bombarded with with false teevee ads and did NO research on these so-called politians.
