  1. omg. these kids weren’t even a twinkle in their parents eyes when this song first came out. I used to sing this with my little sister and she’s now in college.

  2. 🙂 I know the FLOTUS loves children and she is always so good with them, but I think I’d love to see her interacting with teenagers (and not just via athletics). I remember a yearr or so ago hearing that she (along with a group of professionals) was mentoring some young women, but then I never heard any more about it, I wonder how that is going, or if the initiative is over – does anyone know?

  3. Found this on npr, it’s just a sound track of her talking but she says the most sensible things. “When folks see me running around, getting sweaty, making a fool of myself, they think they can do it too.”

I love this woman, she speaks right to the heart.

  4. I remember that, too. Think it was out of the White House project on women and girls issues (I forget the name). I’ll try to find something on that initiative.

  5. There have been a few events with the mentoring program, and in fact, the President also started a mentoring program for young men. For Michele’s mentoring program, the ladies have been included in a few events, have previewed the menus at state dinners, have gone to events with Michelle and taken a ride in the motorcade. Lots of stuff.

  9. Dannie22,
Hi there. You know what I never got the mail that you indicated you had sent to me. Something must have happened to it.

  10. OT: Does anyone know what happened to Blue Wave News? I haven’t been able to access it for over a week now. Did Elise and Co. close up shop or something?

  11. Chicago will gain new jobs and the city and suburbs will gain 280 electric vehicle charging stations by year end after the city reached a deal with a California company.

The city has signed a $1.9 million contract with the company, 350Green LLC, to roll out the charging stations, which will give Chicago the necessary infrastructure to support automakers who want to sell their electric and plug-in hybrid cars here. Plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles include batteries that must be charged.

Mariana Gerzanych, the CEO of 350Green, said Thursday that her company will create jobs in Chicago and relocate some of its operations here because Chicago is its largest client. She declined to be more specific, since the city is expected to make a formal announcement next week.

“Chicago is a great market where we can show the nation how the full charging infrastructure can operate,” said Gerzanych, a native of Ukraine and a statistical analyst who previously ran a hybrid fleet company called EnviroRide. Gerzanych sold her stake in EnviroRide to run 350Green.

    The three-year-old 350Green currently has 10 employees.

The charging stations will comprise fast chargers of 480 volts and Level 2 chargers of 240 volts. A typical charger in a person’s home or garage has 120 volts.

    Cool or what?

  12. Their site was hacked. They are in the process of reconstituting it. The People’s View had an update on it several days ago.

  13. Sooner than we realize, the skies will be clearer and the streets guieter. Gas will go up to $10 a gallon and nobody will really care, because we use so little of it anymore.

  14. Indeed. His sharp wit and intelligence will be missed. Too bad the mollycoddled beltway hacks couldn’t hack a smart press secretary.

  15. I so agree with you. I wish he had come from the onset of this Administration. I think the Dems would be doing much better now thanks to Plouffe’s messaging genius.

  16. The best thing that happened to America are the Obamas.
Especially after the thugs Cheney and Bush.
Please don’t get discouraged and keep going for all those who love hyou!
