I’m Grateful (Updated, February 12)

Hello

When this post was first published back on Thanksgiving, it was a modest tribute to the work of President Obama up to that point. Since then, not only that more was done – This little post went a little viral. Weeks later, I still moderate comments. Some of them extremely moving, some of them from people who are not even Americans – most of them beautiful. (Dozens, even hundreds of those comments are under specific photos, just click on the pictures of the president in the post itself).

Therefore, I’ve decided to stick this post, and will continue to update it. First update right behind the cut. Enjoy.

I’m grateful for the room-lighting smile:

*

For the mind that always thinks:

**************************************************************************************************

For preventing a second Great Depression:

************************************************************************************************

For the humor:

 ****************************************************************************************************

For bringing the number of women in the Supreme Court to 3.:

**********************************************************************************************

For making the White House the people’s house:

**************************************************************************************************

For 1.3 million jobs created in 2010 alone, more than in the entire 8 years of George Bush:

****************************************************************************************************

For The Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz, California:

******************************************************************************************************

For the love of people:

*

And family:

*************************************************************************************************

For the First Lady:

***************************************************************************************************

For Health Care reform:

****************************************************************************************************

For leaving the past behind:

**************************************************************************************************

For the world loving America again:

****************************************************************************************************

For quietly and calmly dealing with crisis after crisis, even if not being responsible to any of them:

*************************************************************************************************

For being so cool:

*

And fierce:

*

And curious:

*

And imperfect….

*

And not giving a damn…

*

And compassionate:

*

And an inspiration:

****************************************************************************************************

For saving the auto industry and at least 1.4 million jobs:

 ***************************************************************************************************

For loving the troops:

*

And understanding the horrible price:

*

And bringing 100,000 men and women back from Iraq:

******************************************************************************************************

And for reminding everyone that “we are not a nation that says, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’. We are a nation that says, ‘Out of many, we are one'”:

*****************************************************************************************************

And taking care of the health of those who run into the burning buildings to save others:

*****************************************************************************************************

For making the world a safer place:

 ******************************************************************

And making sure that our kids will eat safer food:

************************************************************************

And signing 35 (!) new bills on the first day back from vacation:

******************************************************************************************************

For facing the most difficult and loneliest job in the world with grace, dignity, honesty and guts:

***************************************************************************************************

And despite all the hate, pettiness, racism, corruption and immaturity around, still being the most progressive and ‘for the people’ president in decades:

***************************************************************************

For the empathy, the eloquence, the ability to rise to every occasion, and the heart that is full with so much love and compassion:

**************************************************************************

For standing by people all around the world:

************************************************************************

And simply for this:

  1. BDW, keep up the good work. I’m glad we have a place to have a positive conversation. Thanks.

  2. Absolutely amazing!

Thank you for sharing such excellence with us.

    With deep appreciation and blessings!

  3. Oh BWD that was beautiful!

    This part made me cry:

“For facing the most difficult and loneliest job in the world with grace, dignity, honesty and guts”

Thank you for our Pres Obama! Thank you for all that he and his administration are doing to help America!

Thank you BWD for all you do and for not giving up!

  4. I share your gratefulness and appreciation. Thanks for this. We have a President who has so many beautiful traits.
PBS had a great special last night about WH photographer extraordinaire, Pete Souza. You can access it on their website. Well worth it, some great moments.

  5. BWD – thank you so much for your work. I am grateful for you and all those who appreciate our President – the best in my lifetime. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your bloggers. And a heartfelt Thank You to President Barack Obama and his family and all who work with him to perfect our union.

  6. Your best ever, BWD, and that’s saying something!! And it really helps to see the graphs on the economic indicators (growth in GDP and job creation) as they do tell a positive story that seems to be lost on the media and most of American society . . . What peculiar times we live in when so much good work by our president is appreciated only by the discerning . .

  7. I am very thankful for our wonderful president. This tribute is so touching.

I am thankful that you have develop a site to post your positive news. Although I am greatful for that other place where I found your diaries, I am even more greatful that I no longer need to visit that site to find your diaries.

Thank you so much for this site, have a wondeful thanksgiving Blackwaterdog

  8. You have such a gift bwd, a genuine gift. Thank you~I will be sharing this with my family, its very special imo.

  9. Oh my gosh, this is so incredibly beautiful and overwhelming. Thank you for tying all this gratefulness together, piece by piece, with love and compassion and respect. It’s impossible to overestimate the grace and brilliance of this extraordinary elegant man. Thank you, BWD.

  10. We Americans have much to be thankful for this year. Thank you BWD for today’s inspiration.

  11. Thanks, dear. I’m finally getting around to answer some comments (Not that i’m complaining….;).

But seriously, yea, share it with the world. That’s the only way we can change this outrageously false narrative – where someone who’s already one of the greatest presidents ever, is being portrait as a failure. If we won’t do it – no one will.

    Happy Thanksgiving, honey.

  12. You have said it so well. Thank you BWD , thank you for keeping this is in our minds and dialogue. You do wonders to promote the progressive ideals without being bitter or impatient. You are an idealist, but one whose feet are firmly planted on the ground. Way to GO . I love the best president the USA has ever had and I have been around for a lot of them.

  13. Ohhhhhhh, thank you. 🙂

Yes, the facts are so clear, that i drives me nuts to hear and read what people say. They really should go read some history books. Even FDR didn’t do so much good in his first two years.

  14. I am so glad someone posted a link to your blog BWD. I enjoy each and every post/diary of yours that I have read.
So nice to read all positive, uplifting comments, too.
I admire Barack Obama as a person and a President. Not many people could do his job at all, let alone as well as he does it.
I am wishing for him that his next two years are at least as productive as the last two have been.

  15. YOU are doing a Fabulous job.. I can’t imagine trying to respond to all the many comments you’ve received. And yep- I’m always telling folks about that guy Mr. President and that other fella he pals around wiht- Joe Biden, such a pair. And don’t even get me started on Beautiful graceful FLOTUS, definition of woman, imo.

Happy Thanksgiving right back to you, my dear, you are a treasure for what you do, thank you.

  16. Absolutely lovely, BWD. You captured every moment of the last 21 months; many tears and smiles and laughs!
Thank-you so much & a very happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  17. There is no way to describe how badly I need this blog. I’m so grateful that you could find a way to do this as I have been wanting you to for awhile now. Peace baby!

  18. Fill the seats of justice
With good men, not so absolute in goodness
As to forget what human frailty is.

From Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd. Your photos and comments truly carry 1000 words, but this quote also seems to represent the man we elected to office as well. Thanks to all!

  19. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! Thank you for all your beautiful and inspiring diaries and keep up the good work. For (Thanksgiving Day 2010): [PSALMS 136:1] Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his lovingkindness continues forever. [THE LIVING BIBLE PARAPHRASED]

  20. BWD, in the face of this post I am, almost, speechless. You inspire me as he inspires all of us. I have been cognizant of what goes on in the world since the Eisenhower administration and I can honestly say that Obama is far and away the best President this country has been fortuante to have that I know of.

  21. I think we have to prepare ourselves for some disappointment because the new Congress won’t be cooperative AT ALL. Worse, the House is going to lauch all sorts of investigations and try to discredit the President.

My only hope is that the vindictiveness of republicans will turn people off.

  22. I am grateful for facts. I am grateful for gratitude. I am grateful for the generous hard work that it takes to put these posts together. I am grateful for our president. And BWD. Thank you.

  23. Wow! Came back from a lovely Thanksgiving with family and friends – the heart’s reasons for giving thanks – and found this.

I’m really rather stunned, truth be told. This moved me to tears.

I know we’re still digging out of a deep hole, but the person I want in charge of getting us out is the man who kept the roof from caving in.

None of us could do it alone. But all of us together can work with our President to help and heal our neighbors, communities and Nation.

    He shows us how everyday.

Bless you bwd for reminding us that we’re not alone or without good reason for hope.

    Happy Thanksgiving honey.

  24. BWD, this is so inspiring. I felt tearful and it just went on and on. I’m uplifted by our President. Thank you for creating this beautiful space for him and for us.

  25. Thank you blackwaterdog for this wonderful Thanksgiving tribute to the man who will become known as the best United States president since FDR.

He’s a treasure. You’re a treasure. And our entire family, and some of my best friends, are grateful for both of you.

Incidentally, the whole of this most northern part of Utah is buried in eight inches of snow and subzero temperatures. We’ve been struggling to keep our apple trees and roses and, most of all, a large herd of cats and three chickens, from expiring in the cold.

    Keep warm!

    Joan

  26. Simply stunning and beautiful, this website is a dream come true for me, keep up the good work BWD. Happy Thanksgiving!

  27. We have much to be grateful for with the change that has come with President Obama, VP Biden, Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, their dedicated staffs, the many volunteers who have not given up. We remember that “the road ahead will be hard.” Just as our president has persevered with grace, grit, love, hope, and compassion as so vividly displayed in all these photos, we will also persevere. Many thanks to BWD for her dedication and uplifting diaries, to Chipsticks, and all the many posters here and across the web who continue to support our president and work to bring about positive change.
    Blessings to all.

  28. Thank you BWD for this beautiful post. I love how you highlight all the good things our President is doing. May God continue to richly bless our good and decent President.

  29. I can’t find words to express how I appreciate this update. I wish President Obama could see this.

One of prayers is the administration gets some people like yourself to muddle through MSM’s continuous manufactured false news, the witch hunt, media bias against this wonderful President and actually spread the facts. Our President is doing an exceptional job. He is doing better than I ever imagined.

  30. A piece of art, BWD. Thanks!

With clear vision, steadfast conviction and calm presence President Obama has and is moving this country forward not merely delivering on his campaign promises but elevating our nation to global leadership heights. All, amidst unbelievable odds and obstacles.

  31. Thank you for posting these beautiful inspirational photos. A picture captures it all so easily.

This post was the second best part of my day after spending it with my family and reading the email I got today from info@barackobama.com. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving greeting signed Barack. I know it was a mass mailing and I do contribute a little money to them, but this did not ask for money and was a thank you for everything.

Wow!! Just wow!! How many Presidents thank the little people? We are so lucky to be the ones that recognize what a great person we have for the President. Wouldn’t it have been awful to have been alive during this time but not recognize his greatness and not be involved with helping him?

  32. I am glad someone posted where to find you (I don’t remember who it was, but they gave your website to the folks at DKOS).

I am grateful that you have found a place for your voice to be heard. Your website will be part of my daily web review.

Thank you for what you have chosen to do. I appreciate the time, effort and dedication you put into your work.

Yours is a voice that needs to be heard.

  33. Thank you so much. You are what we have been waiting for. This diary expresses our love and admiration for this President, his family and not for nothing this democratic congress. Thy got busy.

  34. I often don’t understand why this President acts or doesn’t act in a certain way.
I wish he would stop reaching across the aisle to the hand that slaps him. But I agree that he is the most progressive president to come along in a long time. And I love your photos, your blog and your dedication to presenting him in the best light.

  35. Beautiful post, BWD. For these and more I, too, am thankful. I’m also thankful for you.

    Blessings!

    Hachikō (aka marabout40)

  36. Great site. Now could you please change greatful to grateful. Thank you so very much for your effort to the cause. I just love the photos.

  37. Wow..stunning!!!!

Its all very powerful. But the part about leaving the past behind really hit me. Perhaps that’s a lesson I’m needing to learn.

Sometimes I think that Obama has an uncanny vision for being able to see beyond the surface quarrels with people to find the good where he can connect. So I watch and try to learn.

  38. Thanks for the great work BWD!

Here’s a beautiful new video of President Obama with auto workers in Detroit:

  39. This diary brought me to tears. Fabulous job BWD! How can people in our Nation be so stupid? This President’s policies have been nothing short of phenomenal.

  40. It’s so nice to see a blog post by blackwaterdog without all the whining and backbiting comments by that group of 3rd grade bullies over at DKos!

  41. Sharing this on Facebook (but waiting a bit for you to correct the typo in the title!) – THANK YOU for this!

    Juli

PS. Gotta figure out how to add an avatar here. And you do need a Facebook page …

  42. Haven’t worked in two years and ate hot dogs for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful.Barak Obama has begun a change in this country that is moving everyone ahead on the path of hope.He inspires me through his leadership ,not to feel the fear of hopelessness, but the inspiration of hope for a better tomorrow.Every one of you are awesome! Stay close, keep the light shining, and we will produce a better America.Love and peace.

  43. Dear Blackwaterdog,

I’m so glad to find this site! Since 2008, I’ve “lurked” around Daily Kos. Never posted. Always loved your diaries, but as with so many, I became very discouraged at the negativity; so I essentially stopped reading. Would occasionally go on and search specifically for you.

Thank you so much for doing this! I’m sitting on a plane with tears running down my face. :~)

  44. Excellent BWD!!! True history being recorded here. You have something to be proud of. Your part of history!!!!!

  45. BWD! I can’t see the videos, and only half the pics, with my computer from the dark ages. Thank uou. Thank you. Thank you. Please consider making a book or dozen of your wonderful diaries.

Thnak you, thank you, thank you. We appreciate your work, your time, and you.

Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Birthday of the Flying Spaghetti Monster with Oodles of Noodles, and all the Gods and Goddesses!

Kat's Daily Obama Administration Report, 11/26/10

Hi, all. I hope you continue to have a great holiday. BWD, thank you for this great tribute to our President. A truly wonderful photo/video essay.

    Today's report features:

    • West Wing Week, 11/26/10: The White House's video restrospective on the week just past.

    • DREAM Act: On Nov. 29, take part in a webchat on the DREAM Act at WhiteHouse.gov/live. The President strongly supports passage of the DREAM Act.

    • First Lady launches new Let's Move! Project: Also on Nov. 29, join a conference call with Mrs. Obama and faith/community leaders discussing efforts to end childhood obesity.

    • Administration blog round-up: The Obama Administration requires reporting of every dollar spent in the Recovery Act, an unprecedented level of federal transparency. The Office of National Drug Control Policy reaches out with drug prevention and treatment resources and health messages. And NASA will give $20 million to support a national program to inspire student interest in science, engineering, and mathematics with a focus on robotic technology.

And every day, a link to Blackwaterdog's latest post.

  47. Hi BWD 🙂

Wow! So you finally did it. This is great. So beautiful. Overjoyed actually. For you an everyone else. But probably mainly me. 🙂 I left DK a while back, and could not go back even to read your diaries. So when I found out about this, I was all Woohoo and Wheeeeeee!

    Thank you friend.

  48. I feel pretty darn goofy for sitting here bawling my eyes out over photographs on a website, but I can’t help it, just like I can’t help being an admirer of this man and all he’s accomplished. As others have said, we’re still digging out of a deep hole, and many are struggling, but there is hope. My beloved MomMom always said “Better days are ahead,” and you know what? She was right.

Rock on, BWD. You make the world a better place with your positive attitude and your great big loving heart. xoxoxoxox

  49. Beautiful BWD, just beautiful!

To all my American friends, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your week-end.

  50. Thanks a lot for what you and other unapologetic supporters of Presidend Obama and Team Obama are trying to do to break through the false narrative and viciousness aimed at POTUS.

Some of us know ALL the great things he has done or is trying to do for regular people and the level of opposition and hatred he faces during this quest. He told us during the campaign that he cannot do this alone but many seem to have forgotten his numerous requests for us to keep involved tp bring about positive change.

Please know that your support for Team Obama (and hence Team America and Team World) on this site and elsewhere are very much appreciated. In the end justice will prevail because it always does

  51. Wow, its really beautiful. Thanks for sharing and for standing by our President. Thank you BWD.

  52. Wonderful tribute to wonderful man and his family. One thought though, were is the picture of Malia?

  53. Hi, Kat! Did you happen to link this in your rec’d post today on GOS? It’s really one of the BEST photo essays on this great president I’ve seen yet – best bwd’s ever done, IMHO.

LONG LIVE THE OBAMAS and BWD!

We’re all SO lucky to have them!

  54. bwd, I ADORE YOU and what you are doing for all of us with this website. This particular post brought tears of joy and gratitude to my eyes. Your ability to put these photos and videos together is simply astonishing. Like our wonderful president, you go above and beyond the call of duty.

I’m especially grateful for this blog because I feel ROBBED by our own press while this president is in office. They are trying to pull the wool over ALL our eyes and HIDE what he’s doing every day for all of us. You and Chipsticks are dedicated to revealing the truth to all of us and I couldn’t be more appreciative of all you do.

Again, I adore you! THANK YOU!

  55. Wonderful post BWD! Very inspiring and it does make me thankful for this President at this time in history. Keep up the good work.

  56. Same goes for me, Christin (great to see you again, BTW): “I left DK a while back, and could not go back even to read your diaries. So when I found out about this, I was all Woohoo and Wheeeeeee!”

    Love, marabout40

  57. Amen. Good luck to you, Yellowdog. Continue to hang in there. It’ll get better for you and me too.

    God bless, marabout40/Dionne

  58. Hi Sweetie – I’ve missed you so. {{{{{{{{{{mara}}}}}}}}}}}} And wondered. And wanted to post a diary just saying i missed everyone and all that but bye. I grew to view DK as a toxic hate site. Not even saying that lightly. I would go there, read for a bit, and feel depressed or want to cry. I take small comfort for some pathetic reason in the fact that site fell out of the top 4000, and that five people bought MM’s book. I know. Petty. But I can be like that. 🙂

I hope you’re doing ok. I know thing were not easy.

okay – have to do – old school style:
    you wrote –
    “Hachikō
Same goes for me, Christin (great to see you again, BTW): “I left DK a while back, and could not go back even to read your diaries. So when I found out about this, I was all Woohoo and Wheeeeeee!”

    Love, marabout40

    November 26, 2010 at 7:17 pm”

  59. The part I loved the most: all the pictures of POTUS calling senators and congresscritters on behalf of health care reform. Even the people inside his administration advocated abandoning the effort. He stuck with it, and started a revolution.

I’d love to the Administration (or BWD?) assemble a photo diary like this of people who’ve already benefited from increased access to health care/health insurance.

Great to find your blog BWD, I, too, have been missing your presence on Kos.

  60. Thank you very much for this site, BWD.

I honestly believe some of the vitriol on DK and other sites come from the other side – sort of like when they were bussed to the town hall’s during the healthcare debate, etc.

These attacks are coordinated (in many cases) in my opinion.

    JMO

  61. Amazing! Just a little highlight of the wonderful man and president Barack “Barry” Obama is! I am 100% impressed….

  62. Sharing this on Facebook now … Btw, I don’t know how you fix this, but the typo still shows up in the title that gets shared on Facebook w/the thumbnail (and in the URL). Not a huge deal, but just FYI …

Poor President Obama had to have 12 stitches after being elbowed in a basketball game … OUCH!!

    Juli

  63. Thanks for the Thanksgiving tribute – a very inspiring compilation of photos! I am very proud of our President and enjoy your documentation of this historic administration and First Family. Keep ’em coming, lady!

Also, congratulations on the new blog sans nasty, hateful comments. Viva BWD!

  64. BWD, I’m so happy that you began this website to continue your photo diaries and news updates. And bless you for moderating comments; I hope that the negative comments are few and far between.

    As always — well done!

  65. This is so beautiful and inpsiring. Tears are flowing filled with joy and respect for you doing such a positive act of kindness and respect for a great leader. We are thankful. Thank you so very much for a decent place to come and enjoy the rewards of our wonderful gift. HZ

  66. That’s our President

Tipping the scales of Justice in our (the peoples) favor. lol. That is such a fun picture.

    In another story:
Limbaugh and Huckabee want to trip up the scales of justice any way they can.

    Thank you blackwaterdog

P.S. I tried to put in links. Hope it works & is allowed

  67. HI Christin, Marabout and Kat for Obama. glad to see you all here too. I also left dkos/kos due to the hatred for President Obama and all the “primary”, “bush-lite”, he disappointed us”, “holding his feet to the fire” diaries. It is a breath of fresh air to see pictures, videos and information supporting him without all the name calling of his supporters. I am extremely glad I found BWD’s blog. A BIG thank you to BWD and posted to FB page.

  68. I loved this! said everything I wanted to say only better. I am very thankful for Pres. Obama!
    Andrea

  69. We really have an awsome President, just received an E-Mail last night from my Cousin, he sent a Prayer for the President and his Family, but what really filled my heart, is what he said, he said: Our President is still standing Tall, of all the hate, racist and some Backstabbing from his own Party, he still work for the People and this Country, the most hard working President ever, a very strong and a President with Guts. We say GOD Bless and Thanks. 11/27/2010.

  70. Thank you so much for putting this all together, BWD !

I must say… the photo of President Obama and his wife behind the scenes at the big rally during the mid-terms… Looking at it…. I have a lump in my throat .

  71. Thank you, BWD. I always read your posts at DKos and am happy to see you’ve created your own site.

  72. Thank you for putting together this wonderful masterpiece. In my heart, President Obama is one of the 3 amigos… the other two being Bill Clinton and John Kennedy. I am happy to say I was around for all three. God Bless America.

  73. Ceeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so hoping you’d show up!

I was telling my husband the other night that based on the response here, there was clearly a deep need for a blog like this. I am thankful for our hostess 🙂

  74. oh gee!. 🙂 a.k.a. ACD! 🙂
i think of you often. there’s one thing i miss about the other blog, and one thing only. and it’s you, and a few others. the software they use made it very easy easy to go back and forth and have a a conversation. but, i refuse to start up again. I got sucked into the misery and pessimism porn they bask in once too many times, so the little warning I refuse to accept was a gift to me many times over. because when i’m done, i’m done. you can imagine – the SO is more than happy. 🙂 god it’s good to see you again.

  75. pictures of the President always choke me up and reduce me to tears, no sad ones…only proud…and this one even more so. I’ll never understand what there is to dislike about the guy, he is an amazing fellow and an outstanding president for all Americans. thanks for the excellent post BWD, it’s my favorite.

  76. You expresswed my thoughts of appreciation for these soulful Photos. As a 75 year old who has lived through all Presidents since Roosevelts’ last term and death — Harry Truman and all the others; I can truly echo the 3 Amigo sentiment.

Kennedy, Clinton, and our current President Obama will long be remembered for all they have tried to do — against hateful odds.

For different reasons, I am glad that President Jimmy Carter has been spared to continue his good works and to see the world re-evaluate his Presidency.

My first time seeing this type photo grouping — it was sent to me by a dear Friend and I will try to access the BWD site on my own.

  77. This brought tears of joy to my eyes. Before I saw this I actually sent an email to the White House encouraging Obama to not listen to foolish detractors. Thank you for doing this.

  78. President Obama is superhuman. He can’t cure cancer or walk on water, but simply accomplishing all that he has accomplished so far in the most difficult and thankless job in the world makes him one, in my opinion.

  79. And he is the Best that has ever did it…And they can not take that away from him. What President (alive or dead)has embraced All the people, not just the ones who skin color is the same as his.

  80. I choose to believe that God is playing an incredible part in the life of President Obama. In every photo, I saw a character of the Supreme: love, kindness, concern, compassion, peace, joy, thoughtfulness, devotion, and tolerance. Thank you for a poignant and positive presentation of our leader. You’ve got a new fan.

  81. GN – My friend. I did not see this until today. I hope your holidays were as beautiful as you are. Still trying to fight the good fight, huh? 🙂 🙂 It’s a shame you can’t have more fun doing it though. 🙂 🙂
Many many many warm thoughts and hugs.

    Christin

  82. (((((((Christin)))))))

You’re fabulous enough to be greeted twice! I *am* having a good time, just at weeseeyou. Check us out!

  83. Thank you President Obama for representing the Office of the President of the United States of America with dignity, integrity and grace.

God bless you and your family,

    Stephanie Shoffner

  84. I too am grateful that the Lord has blessed us with a leader as President Barack Obama. He is the only adult in the Congress, the other old men & women need to grow up. It hurts me to think that we pay them a salary.

  85. Thank you Mr. President for all that you have done and all that you continue to do.I’m sure you don’t read these…for my grandparents. parents, aunts, uncles, and the rest of my family and friends that did not get to experience this part of history…I thank you for them.

    Blessings!

  86. Thank you, Mr. President for all you do for so many!

May God continue to hold you and your family in His omnipotent care.

  87. Thank you Mr. President for being so kind and compassionate to all. Thank you for having the guts to stand up for all and not just for some. Thank you for the role model that you are and all that you represent!! Most importantly, thank you for showing America what a real family is and the importance of unity.

  88. Thank you for the photos of this remarkable man and your understanding of his difficult job and support for what he’s trying to do for America and the world. In this 21st century, I’m still horrified by the hate and disrespect that has been hurled at President Obama. I don’t understand the naked ignorance of Americans, and how they can be duped by others who’s agendas are selfish and self-serving. I don’t understand how the Republican’s only agenda is to make sure Obama fails, and not work with him to assure America’s survival and each individual’s success. I don’t understand how his party, the Democrats, has shrunk away from him and his policies. I don’t understand how the media has been so unkind and complicit in the spread of disinformation and lies regarding him. The media, in its frenzy to sell, is more guilty more than anyone or entity in fanning the fires of prejudice, hate, and distrust. I pray every night for our President:that he remains safe; that he triumphs over his detractors; that he accomplishes what’s best for America; and that his spirit remains positive. I’m amazed how calm and serene he is—I know if it was me in his shoes and I had to listen to all that crap and disrespect, I’d be ready to punch someone out accompanied by a few cuss words.

Yes, he is one of our greatest leaders and often I am saddened by all the negativity that surrounds him. But, I look at that smile and determination that’s chiseled along his jawline and then hope for America, with Obama as our leader, swells within me. Sometimes I won’t listen to or read a newspaper or magazine because I get so angry at how he’s portrayed.

So, again thanks for lifting my mood and thanks for spreading the word–NBrown

  89. IN SPITE OF ALL THE NEGATIVITY, MY PRESIDENT STILL STANDS TALL, HONEST, AND STRONG. HE KNOWS WHO GOT HIS BACK! THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER PRESIDENT LIKE HIM FOR YEARS TO COME!

  90. Mr. President I’m so proud of you, and May Our God keep lifting you up. And not let this USA of people that have so much HATE in there hearts, come to know and see what a difference you have made in one year. I Love you and your fsmily very much. I have a picture of you and my oldest Son in Dallas, when you were campaigning.

  91. I am grateful to you. I wish you continued success and my prayers are constanly with you. Keep up the good work. God bless you and will keep you strong.

  92. I am so proud of this president, President Barack Obama. Man, that title sounds so good! I am even prouder that he is from my hometown of Chicago, and we used to run in similar circles. He actually gave that famous “Father’s Day” speech at my former Church, the Apostolic Church of God. I actually recall him being that “community activist” on the southside of Chicago.

  93. My family is sooooo proud of all your accomplishments, its like you are a part of our family and we are behind you 100%.

Some people don’t want to accept that things are better now then 8 years ago, we see it and so do they. Thank you President Obama, our prayers are with you may God bless you and your family. May God Bless America!

Keep up the Good work I know its hard dealing with some of us but keep your head up, you’re doing a fantastic job, we are proud.

  94. I love this…so touching, but true!

President Obama a true servant of God, called out to do a mission, just like David in the bible. My prayers are always with him, his family, the cabinet members and especially to those who don’t know.”Touch not God’s anointed one”. Keep doing His work!!

  95. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this inspiring look at one of THE best presidents of my lifetime! I get so sad and tired of seeing all the negative press that your blog is like a breath of fresh air. It’s no wonder I was crying like a baby reading this, happy tears of course. I’m so happy to share in your positivity….keep up the excellent work!

  96. Honorable President Obama,

You are just a special man, as president , hushand and father. We need more men to stand up for what is right. May God bless you, There is no limit with the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Gwen Hatfield

  97. Thanks you President Obama for being the president for the under served along with everyone else. I do believe God will help all of us to make this country great again for all of us. I can tell your mission is to do the right thing for all people and I pray for peace and goodwill as you move us all forward. I thank you for being a servant for this country. I also appreciate the sacrifices your wife and children must make in your absence while you are doing such a great job. Johnnie Eiland ,Michigan

  98. God bless and thank you for shedding light back on the possibilities of growth with hope, success with ability, and family with love. President Obama, I thank God for the strength, determination, and passion in that you project in making family a part of the centerpiece of rebuilding our faith.

  99. Thank you Mr. President for the tremendeous work you are doing I pray that The Lord will give you the strength you need in the days a head

  100. I am so proud of the President. I did not really need a video presentation to know how truly strong, brave, compassionate and decent the President is, but it brought more tears to my eyes. I believe President Obama will go down in history as being the greatest President the United States has ever had! Thank you BWD!

  101. Very touching and very true! I support the President 100%. He said during the campaign, that we may not get everything we want right away, but the foundations would be layed. And so they have. Thank you Mr. President and thanks to the creator of this wonderful site.

  102. And for listening to the republican party knowing that the democrat’s plan may not be the best.

  103. This is very good. Even as an AfrAmerican who’s been critical of the Prez, I appreciate your cheerleading.

I wrote an article over a year ago titled, “Barack Obama. The Token President?” on the Huffington Post. I questioned Obama’s ability to be the great leader we need so desperately now. And even though I voted for him, I think the verdict is still out.

Ironically it seems his greatest failure has been his inability to communicate with the base of people, “black”, “white”, “brown”, “yellow”, “red”, “gay”, “straight” and “other” who voted for him.

Unless he starts to communicate better to his base and unless the economy improves enough for him to point to how his actions and policies contributed to that improvement, he’s toast.

I’ve got my fingers (and arms and legs crossed) that he does and it does. But I think it’s important that we stay on his case (like Fred Douglass stayed on Abe Lincoln’s) to get him to step up his game.

He’s a good president – better than 95% of all who’ve come before him. But because of the mess they’ve got us in, good is not good enough. We need a great one. Yesterday.

BTW: Where’d you get all these photos? Maybe Obama’s already taking my advice.

  104. My husband and I have four children, three in-law children, and six grandchildren. We are ALL behind President Obama. We understand what he has done and what he is trying to accomplish. We appreciate his leading us with grace, compassion, and most of all, INTELLIGENCE. May God Bless Him in this season of holiday celebration.

The Kosakowski Family of Pasadena, California

  105. Thank you for being a mentor to the mindful and the guiding light for those who may have lost their way.

  106. I am so proud of and so full of love for you President Obama.
Thank you President Obama for all that you have done and all that you will do.
You have taken a piece of carbon and are molding into a diamond.
Inspite of the hateful critizisms you move foreward with diginity and strength.
God bless you and your beautiful, always.

  107. “Our President of The United States of America”. The world stands on his shoulder. He never gives up, whimper, complain, or stop searching for solutions to save America from the demise engineered by Bush and Chaney. He has engineered the comeback from a sure demise, a feat for which he is given no credit. Those who benefit from his tireless efforts sit or stand back quietly never saying a mumbling word, while the establishment, from both sides continue to express their hate that he is the President of The United States. Those hate mongers use your tax dollars to try and destroy him and all that he does. Do you believe what you are seeing in his world as President is considered “United”? He is butchered daily and is never given any credit for the great things done in his presidency. When are we going to stand up and say “Get off his back, get on the ground and help him do what is good for America and its people”? So many are standing on the sideline to help him fail by doing nothing and assessing everything he does with a fine tooth comb to have some unnecessary criticism for the monday morning quarterbacks to use to keep the TV/Radio in the marketplace. America wake up! Great things are happening to this country. Just think if he had taken the approach Bush and Chaney took their last two years this country would be experiencing economic ruins. AIG, GM, all your big banks would have failed. No one seems to want to talk about those items. There are many more. Wake up and see the roses and not let the hate mongers steer you in the wrong direction. I guess you see what the rich wanted, all the money in their pockets. They were willing to see you starve if there had not been an extension on the tax cuts. Now you should stand back and see how may jobs those recipients of the billions of dollars will create! If all of america would exercise the only true right they have by understanding how the issues affect them and vote for the representative who know your issues and desires, this world would be a better place.

  108. Wow!
I am overcome with happiness and gratitude BWD -that you have created this.
You are so right about this man.
Thanks for reminding me about the positive things he has done.
I just want him to succeed so much but sometimes I feel sad because like everyone else I want to see a dramatic increase in employment.

I still hold the belief – that I had from the day he assumed the presidency- that President Obama will accomplish something monumental-something great -something that no one saw coming. Thanks so much for this blog.

  109. thank you Mr. President,

REAL people really do appreciate what you are doing with the mess that started before you even got into office. How people forget that the President don’t pass legislature Congress and the Senate do, so why always, more so than ever put the blame the President. Mr Obama you are awesome in every aspect of the word. I’ll continue to pray for you and your great family for peace and harmony in the world of madness. God Bless you and the United States of America

  110. For being the man God has called me to be and doing what he asks of me despite all that goes on around me.

  111. Mr. President,
I wish to “Thank You” for all you have done. Many don’t understand,or they choose not to understand. I’m a retired school teacher with some years under the belt. But you have to know that “God has placed you where he wants you to be”. The complaints will always be there. But in your heart you know you are making changes that most don’t approve of.
Just remember the suffering that Jesus went through to save our souls. You are making a differences in the world.
God Bless you, and Your lovely family.

  112. May the Grace of God continue to Bless you and your Family. You have done an outstanding job and we APPRECIATE your hard work.

  113. …For Being a God-Sent President for “Such a Time As This” and FOR BEING REAL. Praying for his continued strength and leadership.
    “In God We Trust”

  114. I can remember very distinctively, during your campaign for presidency, You told us (The American People) that you could not do this alone. Hopefully you will remind us with the short term memory syndrome. LOL… Like a lot of Americans I have not agreed with some things, however, when i decided to vote for you, I also decided to trust your judgement. therefore, like so many others, I need to say thank you Mr. President, Thank you First Lady and thank you to The First Lady’s mother.. We know that you are both praying women. Now January is approaching quickly and I sincerely hope that the Girls will give you knee pillows for prayer.. I am certainly buying me a new one…LOL

  115. I don’t have the words to express how I feel about all that the pictures depic. The closet that I come is like the end a beautiful piece of music. Full of tears that flow on and on.

  116. Me and my family truly appreiciate you and your family for what you are trying to acccomplish. We will continue to pray that God keep you under his grace, love, and protection; Know that you are doing the right thing for the right reason and at the right time. We Love You.

  117. Thank You Mr. President Obama and may God continue to bless you and your family. May you continue to get your strength, courage and most of all Love from God and for neighbors!! Stand firm in what is right, even if you have to stand alone!

May God continue to bless the country on which it was built and pray that others in leadership positions will do what is right and not what it popular.

I appreciate all you are doing and going to do while you hold the highest office in the USA.

  118. For knowning when to speak out and when to sit back and just listen. For the knowledge that you possess and your willingness to share with no attached strings.

  119. I am soo Grateful for such a wonderful, God Sent President. I pray with him and for him and his entire Family everyday. May the Lord continue to uide him always. He has such a wonderful person loving all with such a caring HEART.

  120. I think this is a marvolous idea to have a photo gallery of the people who have benefited from his legislative accomplishments!!! CHEERS!!!!!

  121. May God continue to bless and protect you and your family. You have done so very much for the people and I am so grateful. Our world is in an upheaval today and you have reminded us that we all have a role to play in helping get us back on track. My prayers for you are unceasing. Again, GOD BLESS YOU!

  122. Thank you so much, for all you have done, for your heart and soul, President Obama! What a great job you’ve done.

    Thanks!!

  123. You are brilliant for putting this out. Your content is on point. Thank you. I will be sure to support you and this blog in any way possible.

    Blessings
    Kimibird

  124. Thank you Mr. President:
Your Light, Love and Steadfastness will prevail.
Your service goes beyond the duties of your position.
Thank you for the amazing changes you are bringing to this country and the world.
May grace guide and protect you and bless you and your family.
Our Hearts and Love are with you!

  125. Mr. President, I may not always approve of every decision, but I am grateful to you for your service. You’re doing a thankless job where there are seldom any winning choices. No matter what, SOMEbody is going to be unhappy with the result, no matter how tough the choice may be. Precious few could do so well, hold up at all, let alone with such dignity and grace under fire.

I may not be thrilled with some of your decisions, but overall I am still proud and pleased to have voted for you, sir!

  126. Absolutely marvelous ..spread the Good News with accuracy and BALANCE!!!!! The Obama’s are “Shining Stars”. Peace & Blessings

  127. This made my day! He makes me proud every day and I hope he knows that there are people like you who take the time to honor his hard work. Thank you and keep up the great work!!We’ve got your back, Mr President!!

  128. This is beautiful It illustrates so much more about this man we will ever get from national media

President Obama will go down in the history books as one of the greatest Presidents of all time

I am so proud of him!

  129. Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” Mark 11:22-23 Hang In there Mr. President and let the Lord be your guide.

    Thank you
    Pastor Mary Anyanwu

  130. Mr. President, God Bless you.

Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” Mark 11:22-23 (NLT)

    Thank you
    Pastor Mary Anyanwu

  131. Thank you Mr. President for giving us hope again. Thank you for loving all the people of the world and wanting only the best for us. Thank you for being a wonderful Husband, father and man. Thank you for allowing my sons to have a positive role model that looks like them and thank you for just being you.

  132. I am so proud of our President. He is the epitome of hope for our country and what it is supposed to stand for.
    God Bless President Obama.

  133. We all need to be reminded of the blessings in our lives. President Obama is certainly a blessing to me, to this country and to the world. What a ripple effect! An inspiration to us all to do the same….

Thank you BWD for reminding us…

  134. Right after my family and loved ones, I pray each day for my President and my Pastor. Two men who have the most difficult of leading others. Folk often forget that he is a man with feelings and a family that loves him very much and his family shares him with the world. I have never, ever been more disappointed in my country, as I have been since Mr. Obama became president. I was flabbergasted, shocked and outraged by the hate spewn on this man whose only crime is he was gifted and appointed by God Himself to lead God’s people at this point in time. As I watched the inauguration, I was moved by what I perceive the ancestors are saying and praying about this man. Those who fought and died for freedom and rights in this country. Those whose blood was shed so that we have the freedom to disrespect and dishonor another of God’s anointed. I thank God that on the outside, he is holding up; and I know that spiritually and in love, God is guiding him and leading him, because I know Mr. Obama has sought God and found him because Mr. Obama is really leading from his heart, where the love is. I LOVE YOU MR. PRESIDENT, AND REMEMBER, WHAT GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER, LET ON MAN PUT ASUNDER.

Thank you BDW for this place where two of us can touch and agree and send out prayers and thanks to Mr. Obama, his family and administration for trying to help each and every American. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO ETERNALLY AND INFINITELY BLESS OUR PRESIDENT. Thanks again BDW . . .May the Lord continue to allow you to get his word out that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST THE WORD OF GOD, THE CHILDREN OF GOD, AND THE WILL OF GOD SHALL PROSPER. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL MY FELLOW POSTERS!

  135. I am thankful to God for allowing
President Obama to be appointed to this position. It’s been rough for him simply because of petty and vile people. If I had the opportunity, I would vote for him a million times over!!!! I pray God’s favor upon our President, his gorgeous wife and daughters; his Cabinet and staff. Each morning I read II Chronicles 7:14,,,,,mainly for our people to “get it together” and allow our Country to get back where it belongs. President Obama has tried his best to do that…and we should be there to stand behind him. Bless you “MR. PRESIDENT”. Love and well wishes.

  136. Oh…!

Thank you, thank you, thank you BWD… this is a stunning tribute to a once-in-a-generation man… a man who, with grace, dignity and pure, unadulterated tenaciousness has dragged our country back from the edge of the abyss at which Bush/Cheney abandoned us (and likely would have pushed us into if they’d been given another 20 minutes or so).

My greatest fear right now concerning our President is that he will tire of the slings & arrows, the racism, the lack of respect and credit, and he’ll decide to NOT run in 2012… oh, the horror!

Your web site will be mentioned in ALL of my holiday greetings this year.

Obama brought back our national honor, compassion and dignity and for that, we thank & bless him.

And we thank & bless you BWD, for reminding us that Obama is our real Man of the Year for 2010!

    Best to you & yours,
    *CJ

  137. You are a sourc of strength, determination and wisdom. Please continue to “steer the course” the “right way”!!!!!
If you need my help, gived me a call.

  138. I like to say to Blackwaterdog Keep up the good work, Your work speak for you.

    Be Bless

  139. BWD, your page is beautiful and inspiring. I voted for Mr. Obama for all the reasons you continue to support him. He has all the qualities Americans can be proud of (unlike another recent model), but I do have trouble with the extent to which he has been willing to compromise on deeply important issues in order to have the Republicans (and less enlightened Democrats) get with the program. They diss him at every turn and no one appears to be advising him to stand tough. The presidency is a thankless job 99% of the time, and I don’t envy him. I guess my point is that I would like to see more resoluteness (if that’s a word) in this administration, more evidence of the things that gave us so much hope and pride when he won. I admire Pres. Obama and I wish I had the opportunity to ask him why he has made certain decisions. Thanks for keeping the faith, though It’s refreshing to read words like yours.

  140. Mr. President. Thank you for sharing your spirit, tenacity and genuis with a world that badly needs it. Thank you Michelle, for being who you are for sharing yourself, your family and your life to make us all better people. And especially because I am also Southside, born and raised. I wish you all the success you can stand and all the love you can absorb. In spite of the headlines and cable news, know that we are part of you. We got your back. Kay

  141. I am so proud to be alive during this time in history. To experience the pride that I feel for my President. Thank you for making this page. You have done a good thing as we must be able to see so we can remember and thus pass on to our youth so they can see and allow this time to get rooted deep with the soul

  142. You are the best thing that ever happened to Us!!! We love You and bless you and the family everyday !!! I thank God for you all of the time !!!

  143. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We love you and your family and your staff!

You are doing a tremendous job in providing some awesome leadership to our country! You are the best!

May God continue to bless you Mr. President and all of those whose lives you and your family and staff touch each and every day!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  144. Thank you for reviving my pride in America. We will stand behind you no matter what!
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world. Buddha

  145. For carrying the weight on his Shoulders as our elected President. President Obama should always be respected by calling him as such, “President Obama”. He is not Obama, Mr. Obama, nor by his first name without permission. He should be respected as all the other Presidents, and called President Obama.
He is most disrespected by the press in this fashion. Our children of today of ALL races, cultures, or heritage should hear respect for our President. By our allowing this disrespect to continue we are sending mixed messages to our youth, that because he is not white it is OK to call him out of his title.
Not true, God Bless America and You.

  146. We are blessed we have a Prsident has is young and has a tremendous work ethic. I know a lot of conservative Americans feel threatened by his presidency, but hey get used to it – because he will get elected and serve another term and will straighten out the rest of what has gone wrong in the last 8 years.
    Craig

  147. see we have no idea what this man does all things he goes through to make sure we as people has a chance at making it. but soon as some things not right we are quick to judge him. will i know that he didn’t take the job as the president to mess up any worst than what it is .

  148. Thank you Mr. President. I just wish I could find stronger words to express the respect, admiration and gratitude along with the appreciation that I and millions of people across the planet feel toward you for the incredible, incomparable and so very honorable job you are doing. Guess I’ll just have to settle for “Thank you, to the “infinity degree.” Hope that will do. …I apologize my that my limited vocabulary prevents me from fully expressing how I feel about you as America’s 44th President. Merry Christmas, Mr. President, and holiday blessings to you and your family.

  149. A picture (in this case pictures) are worth a thousand words. Thanks for helping us to recognize the value of this President.

  150. In chorus with Peachy, CJ, and the MILLIONS of Americans who breathed a sigh of relief when Obama took the oath of office. Thanks for this terrific website. OFA could take some lessons–

Open message to our President Obama: We’re here, we’ve got your back.
    And you have ours.

  151. History will show President Obama to be one of the best if not the best leader of our country. I know I have never seen a president work as hard to do what’s right.

  152. I support the President and I pray for him, his family and staff. May God bless us all in the New Year!

  153. For being strong and remaining true to himself. continious prayer for this special man

  154. I believe that President Obama is God sent.

Only God would would place a man like our President to serve such a divided country as the U.S. in such difficult times as this. He truly is an anointed person and God will make certain that his will succeeds through our President. God bless him, his administration, the first family and all that support what he has done and will continue to do. Marva simms Bowman.

  155. The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field endeavor.

  156. And simply for this…… Coming to the aid of all those that need a hug, laughter, sincerity, understanding, honesty, clear thinking, and so much more. Here’s to a giant of a man who can deal with it all with such grace and foresight – President Barack Obama

  157. We finally have a President that sincerely cares about the people in this country!

  158. Thank you Mr. President for cleaning up this mess you inherited. I believe that you were sent by God to restore America to uphold the standards our forefathers initiated. May God bless you and continued to do his work. Keep up the great work!

  159. May the grace of our Lord and savior Jesus the Christ continue to cover you and your family as you perform the duties of the President of the United States. I thank you for your courage and compassion during some very difficult times in our history. I pray that the Lord will continue to cover you with his grace. Keep up the good work. Thank you Mr. President.

  160. I did not read all the comments as not to interfere with my thoughts of our President.
Yes, he has done a remarkable job without getting the support and credit he deserves. I know we would like to see him fight the GOP but the only one who would win would be the GOP. President Obama is thinking about the people and not his power and I must beleive he knows what he is doing. I don’t know any human being who could govern under the media magnifier and second to second tweeting, texting and blogging. I only wish the Bush had one day of this, he would have caved in a heartbeat and may have been arrested along with Cheney if the Media had done their job. I can only wish. I do hope and pray that we can keep President Obama in office in 2012. My fear is that the Citizens United case may have already sealed the deal with the GOP to get them back in power 4-ever!!!
Thanks for the uplifing message. Lets all hope 2011 will bring a Happy, Healthy, Prosperouse and Peacefull future.

  161. Re: puten tame’s comment of December 17, 2010 at 1:21 pm: This is a bunch of bullshit! Pres. Obama will go down in history as the worst president in history…

You, sir or madame, are wrong.

The title “Worst President EVER” is held by that coked-up frat boy many know as “Bush,” who, because he never even approached his own prospective greatness (much less his Daddy’s greatness) I call “Shrub.”

For eight looooooong years that weasel Shrub sold America’s national honor, dignity and integrity down the river, along with many of her citizens, their savings, their sense of security and most of their hopes… and lest we forget, Shrub also harmed tens of thousands of Americans by claiming their blood, bodies and souls as “Mission Accomplished”… for those lost in two wars, that Shrub charged on his shiny new Chinese credit card, Shrub will certainly rot in hell.

Overall it would have been cheaper, easier and MUCH less traumatic if Shrub had just shown up on the Capital steps on January 20, 2000 in a ski mask, holding a gun and demanded we give up everything we hold dear.

Obama is the trauma surgeon brought in to clean up the mess Shrub left behind… and for every moment of his tenure, I and millions more are EXTREMELY grateful.

As Jean said so eloquently… “Obama has our back, and we have his.”

PS: BWD… thanks for allowing the occasional “turd in the punch bowl” to surface… it makes us stronger and more united.

  162. G’day from downunder. Australia is officially a very close ally of the U.S. But honestly, most of us hate you yankees and never more so than under president W(anker). Obama is the best thing to happen to America for a bloody long time. Get over it, you have a black president, and guess what, he’s the best yet!

  163. Thank you for this. I originally got it in an email and forwarded it to many. But then I found this blog and was happy to post it on my FB page. It’s an awesome tribute to our great President!

  164. Our President, unquestionably a brilliant man, who deserves our utmost civility and respect as the leader of our country.

  165. MR. PRESIDENT,
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON AT THE RIGHT TIME
    IN OUR CIRCUMSTANCE.
THE COUNTRY IS A BETTER PLACE FOR YOUR SERVICE.
GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU HEALTHY.
    SINCERELY,

  166. Being strong enough to stand true to your beliefs, when most want to make them seem wrong…

  167. This was a real tear jerker. I will always love, honor, respect and admire President Obama.
He has faced many adversities and oppositions, yet he has remained poised.and stuck to his guns. Americans have shown their true racist colors, but again our president has remained true to his purpose. I support and salute you
    Mr. President.

  168. Mr. President, Thank you for caring and making dreams come true for many, many Americans! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas & a blessed new year!

  169. > I, too, truly appreciate President Obama for all the acknowledgments noted, and I am also proud of his commitment to be the President of ALL the people – regardless of color, age, economic status, health, political posture, employment status…!

  170. Thank you for this. I do see the tiny glint of defeat in his eyes….from the hatred, corruption and lies towards him.
That is why we must keep Pres.Obama in our prayers. He needs us Lightworkers to raise his vibration to snuff out the
dark energy of those that don’t have the Eyes to see his own beautiful Light, the Truth of his mission as our President:To bring honesty and integrity back to our government.
All of heaven is behind him…. and many on this earth plane. I hope he knows this.
    Bless you,
    Bless us all
    T.S.

  171. Just be greatful we have Pres. Obama leading our country and not someone like puten tame.

  172. And your comment will go down as one of the most assinine in history. (So how long HAVE you been hanging out with Satan?)

    This was absolutely beautiful.

  173. Be of good courage and know you are doing the right. Continue to use yours and our best minds. Know that you are both admired and loved. Forgive those who misunderstand and hate you. And please take good care of yourself. Many are counting on you. Carolyn

  174. For being the President of all the people, not just the President of the Democrats.

  175. President Obama,

I am very proud of you and all that you have done for America and for the world. My family and I worked hard and made numerous sacrifices to secure your Presidency. We believe that it was time and money worth our investiments. You are what we need at this time in our history. We are grateful to God that our prayers were answered when you became President. You and your family remain in our daily prayers.

In your times of trouble, we pray that you will always be encouraged and suggest that you reference the Holy Bible (King James Version), and find comfort in Exodus 14: 10-14. (Fear not; stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord; the Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.) Thanks for all that you do. We so appreciate you and we remain very proud of who and what you stand for every day. Be blessed.

  176. I am so grateful that the LORD saw fit to bless us with YOU. Some are blind but MANY see and understand that you are a special blessing to this nation and the world. You are just what “the doctor ordered”. We needed you badly! in nearly every way! I hate to think what would have happened to this nation had not the Good Lord swiftly sent us a savior! You are our Savior! My prayers are always with you, and me and my family are standing behind you all the way! Never feel like you are alone! Millions like me are with you out here! Always know WE ARE HERE! We know, understand, and see your heart! We love you and your lovely, beautiful, blessed family. Thank you for being obedient and taking up the mantle of being one of the fathers of this nation to lead her to her true DESTINY of providing opportunity, freedom and justice for ALL.

  177. Dear BWD,

This web page is very much appreciated. Thank you for having the patience, courage, guts and smarts to put it together. I am sending it to everyone that I know and encouraging them to do the same.

    Brendlun

  178. Don’t be so goddam sure, buddy. And by the way, if you could accomplish even .00001% in your lifetime as much as this guy has accomplished, it would probably come as a tremendous surprise to all who know you.

  179. This is just awesome, Hannah and her daddy had me in tears. I am so happy to have President Obama exactly where he is.

    Thanks BWD, your the best!

  180. That was simply beautiful, we see God walking with one of his children throughout. What great strength …. of mind, of spirit, of beleif, of conviction. He is Blessed and Highly favoured.

    Thanks!

  181. THANK YOU BWD!!! This was beautiful, inspiring and so refreshing to see. I live in a VERY “conservative” retirement community in FL and I am so weary of having to keep my political views to myself. Love my friends and neighbors, but many make me feel I need to apologize for voting for our President. I’m PROUD I voted for him and will do so again next election!

I am so disheartened by the uttler lack of respect shown to our President. I’ve never seen that kind of total disregard for the man or the office in my life. The Liberals were so much more respectful, or at least “quiet”, when it came to their opinions of our last “president” than the conservatives are of this one.

IMHO, President Obama is MUCH MORE deserving of our respect on his worst day than GWB could have ever hoped to have been on his best!

Thank you again, and keep your positive vibe out here for all to see! We need your bright light shining through this black smog of negativism from the right.

  182. Thank you!! I’m so tired of this great president relentlessly maligned when he has done so much good.

  183. Hey putentame, GWB is, was and forever will be the worst president of the U.S.A. His lying eyes give him away. Read his “book” how many errors did you find, I mean lies.
After 8 years of him, we finally again have a thinking, smart, working president, hallelulah.

  184. I am proud to be a part of history; something that will forever change the horizon of our dreams and hopes.

There are many challenges – an endless stream-which all require mindfulness, deep resolve and compassion.

I am grateful to be an American.

    Happy Holidays,

    Merry

  185. We love you Mr. President because you stay steady while all the lies and deceit to make you appear as typical. But whats that ? this is where those lies loose.

  186. I’ve never before cared for or, dare I say, loved a politician let alone a president… but I really believe he is a good man with a good heart who cares about the earth and it’s inhabitants. Even if he makes mistakes, he seems to be guided by love and that’s more important than anything else. Being fair, forgiving, and merciful is much more difficult than being greedy, violent, and ruthless. I wish him the best and admire him very much.

  187. Thank you so much for this post and blog. It’s good to see others are still standing with the POTUS. I for one believe in Obama and think its a shame he has to lead with his hands tied.

We, as Americans have four major faults. America elects men who have great hopes in serving their country as President. These men put their lives and the lives of every member of their family on the line to do this and we erroneously expect big change in a small amount of time. We vote these men in, don’t stand behind them, and then we publicly ridicule them. I applaud those men for their efforts. Hell, I applaud them just for the audacity to believe they can make a change for the better.

    1. We forget about the time it takes to clean the mess from the former tenants. Mess piles on top of years of mess and requires time and help to clear.
    2. We bitch whine, and complain about what we want. Forgetting it’s not about the individual, but what’s good for the country.
    3. We ignore the haters and the friends left behind from the former tenants who won’t play nice and cause flack and gridlock to this new leader.
    4. When this new leader finally starts to make a path and improve things (regardless of what we, who have no idea how to run a country believes) we kick him out and vote in another poor bleeding heart sucker and we start all over. Insanity.

  188. I’m so disappointed. I thought this blog was to faciliate serious “conversations”, to voice opinions or disagreements in a decent and mature manner, to straegize how best to energize our base and help our President.

Why are so many haters allowed to spew their bile, their lies, anger, disrespect and also to show their ignorance and stupidity? They would be better served, if they could find it in themselves to acknowledge the laws and legislative acts that have been passed under President Obama. He is loved and respected around the world, has improved US standing internationally, yet is despised in his own country. Something is wrong with this picture!!

  189. I am proud of my president. He’s doing an outstanding job. I would vote for him again in 2012. Go OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May God keep you and your family. YOU ARE BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  190. I am thanking for the HOPE that you have given our Nation. When we felt like giving up and giving in you arrived and I am thankful.

  191. We all have our opinions on who was and wasn’t the great Presidents. I thank God for all our Presidents, I may not agree with all of them, but I do respect them. Even though President Obama is the first African American to serve our country he needs the honor and respect that we have given other Presidents. I will pray for our country as well as for our President and his cabinet.

  192. THIS PRESIDENT HAS BENN BASHED, KICKED AROUND, CALL RACIST NAMES AND EVEN TRIED TO MAKE HIM A HITLER. THE WORLD NEEDED AND GOT OBAMA. WE DIDN’T SEE IT BUT GOD DID. FOR HE HAS A WAY OF DOING THINGS. THE WHITE GOP AND THEIR FOLLOWERS HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THEY CAN’T SHAKE-UP PRESIDENT OBAMA TO MAKE HIM SAY OR DUE SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDER. HE IS TOO COOL FOR THEM PLUS TOO SMART. GOD IS WORKING HIM PLAN AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT.

  193. President Obama,
The inspiration, hope, faith, and commitment you have and continue to display, I am truly grateful. You have shown the world what the true meaning of “integrity’ means, and your spirit exemplifies the love of our “God” towards His people.
Knowing that you are the “Commander in Chief” gives a sense of security as well inner peace.
I am thankful to our “God” for you. And I will continually pray that that which He has availed you will be sought daily as you pursue that which is good for all.
May He continually keep you and your family fully embraced in His loving arms.

    Thank You.

  194. I’m proud to be a Democrat and have campaigned and voted for our president. I know his is the toughest job their is in the world. He had to try and keep peace in this war ravaged world and deal with people who have nothing better to do than complain and gripe. There are jobs out there. People just need to get off their lazy asses and go get them. I love our president and am proud he’s doing the very best job he can. The Republicans and the nay-sayers should either put up or shut up. Why can’t we all just do more? Do more for our country and for everyone in it? For those out of work, volunteer. That may lead to a job. God helps those who help theirselves.

  195. You are entitled to your opinion even if it is wrong, racist, and based upon ignorance and hate.
Barack is the greatest president this country has had and his greatest accomplishment may be bringing to the surface the deep racism that exists in America.
Some white Americans cannot see the truth because it comes from a black man.

  196. Thank you President Obama, you are doing a wonderful job!
May God give you the strength to deal with the racism and ignorance your greatness as a president and a human being has invoked.

  197. thank you, BWD, for this blog and your time and effort putting it together. With all of the toxic blather from the misinformed and unenlightened critics, this is great respite for those of us who are ecstatic to believe in a president again. Hope and change…we know it’s still there.

I’m so glad I found this!

  198. Dear Mr. President,How Grateful I am for your Humanity! It is a honor to know we have a President, who has a world view,a kind heart,a intelligence to be admired, a love of Country, and caring for all people.Thank you.

  199. !President Obama! Great Name Great person, Great President.
President Obasma’s character is so excilarating full of excitement and a mind boggling spirit. What a wonderful person.

  200. I pray for this country, that we will forever respect and appreciate the leadership we have in President Barach Obama.

  201. I Love our President. Like someone said he is running a marathon not a sprint. God is able to use Obama to accomplish the goals America needs to overcome the immediate crisis. We must all keep our eyes on the prize. Prayer, Love, and Trust are needed to win this race. God is able therefore President Obama is able.

  202. Thank you for this. Sometimes with the media swirl and spin it’s hard to not believe that ‘everyone’ out there has swallowed that crap hook and sinker. This lets me know that we are not the only sane, rational, fact-checkers around that happen to be fans of President Obama, not just for his charisma, but for what he has done and continues to do in the face of so much opposition and criticism. If the criticism was legitimate that would be one thing, but this is just lies sold to the religious right and bought and paid for by the super-wealthy and infotainment industry trying to protect their hold on their drones.

  203. What a beautiful website! I absolutely love our President! Thanks for the POSITIVE message!!!!

  204. I was on the mall on August 28,1963 along with my mom. She cast the last vote of her life for you, Mr. President. We’ve come a long way and have a ways to go. You keep on keepin’ on-the loudmouths are just loud and there ain’t that many of em. Fired up and ready to go in 2012.

  205. How easy it is to forget how blessed we are to have this man at the helm. He shows humility, patience, compassion, intellect and perseverance. How inspiring is that?

  206. This is so positive and exciting. The Press doesn’t have to alway focus on negativity. My wishes this holiday season are for a great 2011!

  207. As I perused the photos and read the comments above, I thought of this poem that was shared with me by another who supports our president and who, like me, sometimes becomes impatient for change to happen faster. It is SO important to appreciate all his accomplishments and remember that President Obama has called on US to help him make change happen. This is our country, after all, and WE are as accountable as he is.

    You Can’t Have It All

But you can have the fig tree and its fat leaves like clown hands
gloved with green. You can have the touch of a single eleven-year-old finger
on your cheek, waking you at one a.m. to say the hamster is back.
You can have the purr of the cat and the soulful look
of the black dog, the look that says, If I could I would bite
every sorrow until it fled, and when it is August,
you can have it August and abundantly so. You can have love,
though often it will be mysterious, like the white foam
that bubbles up at the top of the bean pot over the red kidneys
until you realize foam’s twin is blood.
You can have the skin at the center between a man’s legs,
so solid, so doll-like. You can have the life of the mind,
glowing occasionally in priestly vestments, never admitting pettiness,
never stooping to bribe the sullen guard who’ll tell you
all roads narrow at the border.
You can speak a foreign language, sometimes,
and it can mean something. You can visit the marker on the grave
where your father wept openly. You can’t bring back the dead,
but you can have the words forgive and forget hold hands
as if they meant to spend a lifetime together. And you can be grateful
for makeup, the way it kisses your face, half spice, half amnesia, grateful
for Mozart, his many notes racing one another towards joy, for towels
sucking up the drops on your clean skin, and for deeper thirsts,
for passion fruit, for saliva. You can have the dream,
the dream of Egypt, the horses of Egypt and you riding in the hot sand.
You can have your grandfather sitting on the side of your bed,
at least for a while, you can have clouds and letters, the leaping
of distances, and Indian food with yellow sauce like sunrise.
You can’t count on grace to pick you out of a crowd
but here is your friend to teach you how to high jump,
how to throw yourself over the bar, backwards,
until you learn about love, about sweet surrender,
and here are periwinkles, buses that kneel, farms in the mind
as real as Africa. And when adulthood fails you,
you can still summon the memory of the black swan on the pond
of your childhood, the rye bread with peanut butter and bananas
your grandmother gave you while the rest of the family slept.
There is the voice you can still summon at will, like your mother’s,
it will always whisper, you can’t have it all,
    but there is this.

    Barbara Ras

  208. GOD SITS HIGH AND LOOKS LOW.I KNOW HE HAS YOU IN HIS CARE.SO DON’T BE UPSET BY ALL THE NEGETAVE TALK.

  209. Thank you mr. President for being a people president, and not just a celebrity for the camras. Thank you for just being you.

  210. In the Achewood cartoon script, one of the characters has going to run for President. When the press asked for his plans, he said “My daddy always said: never show a fool half a job. I’ll tell you what I’m doing when it’s done. Not that you’ll need to ask.”

Watching Barack Obama govern looks kind of like that. The way the December “lame duck” session suddenly turned into a series of massive victories, leaving all his opponents blinking and confused, made it clear that he’s been playing an entirely different game from what anyone thought or expected. It’s amazing to watch, and also funny as hell. Smart man.

I’m not American, but I lived there for a few years during the Bush years. It was scary. This is a big, big improvement, and I’m happy for you guys in the USA that you’ve got a good man at the helm.

  211. Wow. Thank you for posting this, BWD. I woke up at 5:30 a.m. this morning. I started reading the comments left by all those wonder people from different walks of life, and the tears just flowed.

The people get it. They understand the difficult hand the president has been dealt, and yet, with grace, poise and calm he is steering us to a better tomorrow.

If ever there was validity that the frustrati are not the base as so many people would try to have the country believe, the proof is here.

The people who spoke truth to power in these comments, are the base. Let’s all remember this when some on the PL tries to tell us otherwise.

I am so grateful for this president, for all the people here and all the people out there who get it.

    Merry Christmas, everyone!!

  212. It’s quite amazing, have to agree. I just keep moderating comments for this post. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know if you checked comments under many of the photos, but it’s literally hundreds. I’m completely overwhelmed by this thing.

  213. Love the update, BWD. Merry Christmas to you and all the wonderful people you’ve brought together here.

  214. How do you mean, BWD? I’ve tried clicking on a few of the photos and all I see are larger images of their avatar – no comments. How are you seeing those comments?

  215. As I said when you first posted this “I’m Grateful”.. it was the most beautiful thing I’d seen and read on the internet.. and I’ve kept up with additional comments made to it daily.. and it is even more beautiful because of all of the extraordinary good wishes folks have written for our President… so thank YOU again Blackwaterdog for re-posting it.

Merry Christmas.. Happy Holidays to you BWD, I’m very grateful for your lovely, thoughtful, FACTUAL site.. and for all of the many voices you’ve brought together. And HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAYS- to everyone here, I’m so glad you’re all here, participating, involved and caring.

  216. Beautiful! I missed this at Thanksgiving since I was running around at the time.

To add to the list: I am grateful for his tenacity, his self-control and for the way he keeps his eye on the ball and works prudently toward a goal.

The frustrati have much to learn from him.

Merry Christmas to you BWD and to the entire community here.

  217. I’m not seeing these either??

I’d love to see the comments!!

I’m so glad you reposted this to the top. Especially for Christmas Day! 🙂

  218. Beautiful! Good to see this again.

To add to the list: I am grateful for his tenacity, his self-control and for the way he keeps his eye on the ball and works prudently toward a goal.

The frustrati have much to learn from him.

Merry Christmas to you BWD and to the entire community here.

  219. Correction below … since I noted that I did comment about this at Thanksgiving time. A senior moment, I guess, not remembering that I had seen this piece.

For some reason I didn’t think my comment was successfully submitted so I entered it again with the correction. Please feel free to remove this and the incorrect comment above.

  220. I can’t help thinking how proud Barack’s mother would be of him. You see those photos of them together while he was growing up, and imagine what she was thinking through the years.

I wonder if Stanley Ann Dunham had any inkling for how great her son would become. A story for the Ages!

  221. BWD, it’s awful that you have to wade through all of the nasty comments that we don’t see.
Brush it off and keep on doing the wonderful work you’re doing. You’ve made a wonderful home sweet home here. Thanks again.

  222. ahhh… Now I get it!! 🙂 I think I happened to choose probably the ONLY photo that had no comments to see! LOL

  223. Wow, BWD, you were right. It’s a treasure trove of goodness behind those photos.

Thanks for letting us know about that.

  224. “FACTUAL site”. Amen.

This is the main reason I visit here. Everywhere else it’s all spin and drama.

Happy Holidays to all pragmati here.

  225. Happy 25th Wonderful Online Family

BWD – there is no way to thank you. I’m bored with talking about myself, LOL, but I will make one comment. There were days this last month, when I would have preferred to stay in bed and hide. But knowing this blog was waiting for me gave me the push I needed to begin the day. I thank you.

Segue Alert: It amazed me to see all the comments from very religious people here. To remember how they were treated on our old blog. To know this is a space for everyone who follows “the Golden Rule.” That’s what it’s all about (ps – hope I got The Golden Rule bit right – I’m NOT Western religious :))

    NAMASTE AND SHALOM

  226. Ugh. Right. He cannot communicate. Thanks to media, new and old, for trying to push that he’s aloof. That must be why he’s still so popular with the real and actual base. You who are paid are hardly agnostic on the matter, are you?

  227. I want to echo what g said above, what a gift to come to this post and see all the uplifting comments from the Christian community. I am not religious but I share many of the feelings and sentiments of those who are. My husband has asked me to read the comments to him, this has been a wonderful morning because of it. We are so grateful to have this special human being as President. Blessings to everyone, love to you all.

  228. Yes I always think of her. She is actually one of my heroes and I do wish she had lived to be at her son’s side especially during the extra difficult times. I know he has his dear wife but there is always something so wonderful about a mom’s hug or just that look that only a mom can give you. Poor guy.

  229. Merry Christmas to everyone. I am happy that our President, so far is getting much needed relaxation. Let this vacay please be quiet and I hope the press leaves him alone for the duration. Even though I miss pics of him and the fam, I want them to have the privacy they need.
Bless BWD and I hope everyone here is happy and WARM. It is snowing at the moment and super cold out but I feel more blessed that ever.

    *praying for no drama*

  230. Just want to wish everyone a wonderful Merry Christmas. Thank you again, BWD, for your hard and brilliant work. Hope our president is enjoying his well-deserved rest. A usual though he never stops working as there was a story in the NYT about him reorganizing his team. Seems like he’s been working on this for some time. Always thinking ahead, our brilliant president.

I’m so looking forward to helping him get the rest of his agenda through.

  231. I really can’t thank you enough for this blog. It’s just wonderful!!!

I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday.

  232. I have tears in my eyes. It has been such a beautiful, emotional morning with family, then I open this up and the tears are flowing. We do have so much to be thankful for. Thank you Mr President for being who you are and thank you BWD for starting this website for us to gather.

  233. Since I have been able to vote, which has been 34 years, I have never been more proud of a President. I don’t care what the right wing wackos say about him, he’s a GOOD MAN and he wants the best for all of us. He’s strong enough to compromise when necessary and stand firm when appropriate. It takes great wisdom and strength to perform his job well and he has done it admirably. I hope for four more years!!

  234. Quite frankly, you and several members of the new and national media are out of touch.

Why publish such a blatant falsehood about President Obama supposedly struggling with the base? This is untrue and polling bears that out. So why keep saying it?

  235. I would buy it in a heartbeat. BWD should think seriously about an “I’m Grateful” book in time for next Thanksgiving.

  236. I am so thrilled that this space has “gone viral.” BWD, I can’t thank you enough for these past two years. Stay blessed and the happiest of holidays to you and yours.

  237. Eternally grateful to both BWD and having voted for the best President in my lifetime. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton a tied as 2nd.

  238. This was so beautiful and will always be needed to temper the amazing hate from the rabid left and right. Thank you for showing the FACTS of success for this Presidency.

    Merry Christmas.

  239. @lowell thompson

The President’s “messaging problem” is an invention of the poutrage club.

How about you stick to huffing puffing post where your cocky-pop will find a ready audience ?

  240. Lowell Thompson, please spare us the crap…

Get off your butt and go run for something and then let’s see how far you’ll get…

It’s pretty darn easy sitting behind your computer mindlessly armchair-quarterbacking this most brilliant, most dignified and most tolerant President…

You and your ilk really do have a nerve…

And no, your shameless grandstanding and disingenuous attempts at pretending to advocate for some (rather questionable) greater cause while demeaning a man infinitely superior, bigger and better than you’ll ever be, isn’t convincing any smart thinking person; For you are as transparent as your fake, baseless and nonsensical jump on the bandwagon, pay me to bash Barack Obama ramblings are mind-numbingly silly…

  241. Thank you for someone in this country publishing some thing positive about the President. I have seen more disrespect and hatred for this president than I have ever seen in my lifetime. I pray every day for him and his family. I know he is doing what he thinks is best for all Americans, not just the rich.
But the media only seems to want to have a divide in the country between people. Maybe that’s what makes the news. But I never saw any African Americans or Hispanics or any other ethnic group treat the previous Caucasian presidents the way President Obama has been treated. My hat is off to him for trying to bring out humanity into the 21 century. Even though we are kicking all the way there.
So thank you again for reminding us of what he has been doing for all Americans. We need some positive news in this country. The naysayer seem to love to give us bad news. When we are bad times we need some good positive news. Thanks again

  242. On this site, WE ARE UNWAVERING in OUR SUPPORT for President Obama!!! You should keep writing this bull**** on the Huffington Post and the Daily Kos.

We know that Arianna and Kos are conservative Republicans who DO NOT support OUR President!

Do you think that because you “say” you are AA, that somehow that means something?

Do you think you are Fredrick Douglas??? WTF!!

The ONLY part you got correct is that President Obama IS a GREAT President just like President Lincoln.

You are not fooling us with your half-baked jibber.

BTW, President Obama “talks” to his base and he governs for ALL Americans despite what the media tries to sell us.

    We are NOT FOOLS!!!!

    Peace.

  243. Yikes. I don’t know this guy, didn’t read his Huff Post piece, and there’s not a bone in my body that wants to, or has any reason to criticize my beloved President Obama.

I strongly disagree that we need to “stay on his case.” I think we need to stay on the Republican’s case! (my main complain with Krugman, et al).

That being said (I hope I’m not sorry for wading in here) it does sound like this Thompson person is moving in the right direction. Maybe his time here will help him on his journey.

  244. what a president GOD have blessed us with.

Thanks for this excellent post BWD!

    Indeed!

    I am grateful!

How can anyone not be grateful?

GOD is good and HIS mercy endureth forever!

  245. I am very grateful to a friend from Washington state who sent me the link to your blog. As is true for so many others who have responded, it is a joy to find a place where I can be buoyed by the thoughts of like-minded people.

In a culture where the negative, darkness, fear, and violence seem to reign, it is refreshing to encounter hope, reason, and the spirit that I have long associated with the American people. My mother, who was born in 1908, used to tell me that the United States was blessed in that, whenever tough times came, the right man showed up to be President (obviously now it could be the right woman). I firmly believe that President Obama is, once again, the right man. His persistence in the face of unfair, ugly criticism and his refusal to be drawn into the vortex of tawdry personal attacks show the strength of his character.

I hope that we, his supporters, can find a way to offset the bad press without, ourselves, losing our cool and resorting to what we detest. I’m “all fired up and ready to go” in 2011.

  246. HI! I love your diaries at Kos and I believe as you do, that while not perfect, we have the best president we could have right now.

He is calm and thoughtful and a GOOD person.

I really love the photos, please don’t stop!

  247. That was a great special and well worth the time to watch it! It’s amazing the access that Pete gets and the friendship that has developed between him and President Obama.

By the way BWD, I got an e-mail this morning from a good friend and fellow progressive who had the earlier version of this thread copy/pasted into the body (without crediting you). She wrote, “You HAVE TO see this. It’s so great.”

I wrote her back and gave her the link to this new thread with the updates and told her all about you and your amazing journey from Kos to here (where you belong!).

  248. Pete Souza is a master of the camera.

Are you familiar with Scout Tufankjian’s work? She captured some wonderful moments during the campaign. If you’re up for a bit of nostalgia.

  249. Blackwaterdog,

In the end (of your presence at “that other site”) I just recommended your diaries blindly, without reading or even looking at them.

Of course I know the importance of being critical, especially with respect to people you hope they’ll bring your ideals to fruition.

But being critical is not the same as being paranoid.

In the end, the following proverb sums this up nicely:

“The perfect should not be the enemy of the good”.

Thank you for providing an upbeat view of the 44th president in times of extreme adversity.

[ From Holland, with love ]

  250. Absolutely wonderful, Beautiful, educational, compassionate, informative, I can never run out of adjectives to describe this mind blowing feast for my emotions and senses. You have made me laugh, cry, snicker and blessed to have voted for The Man who will forever be known as the one who changed the face of America. Thank you for your chronological efforts. Be Blessed!!

  251. Happy New Year my Lady! You are an amazing soul and I and many here sure as hell appreciate all you do day in and day out.

Many blessings to you and yours for all you do.

Thank you so very much. ((((((hugs))))))

  252. If anyone has the urge to go to DailyFox, you might want to check this rebutting this meme that the President does not care for the poor or people in poverty.

  253. Today, I am grateful for how authentic this man is. I recently watched the documentary about the Presidents photographers and there is this part where potus Obama speaks about one of his most favorite pictures that hang in the hallway, before you get to the oval office. It’s the picture where this little boy is touching the pres hair. I don’t know why that part of the docu stood out for me so much but it does. The wry way he spoke of the little boy noting his gray hairs, the slight smile that appeared on his face. I have never seen a Pres so comfortable in his own skin. Well actually I can say I never saw that in any public person, not even Oprah, who I admire very much.

    God bless him and USA.

  254. This should be a post all it’s own. It’s an interview with Merle Haggard where he mentions meeting Obama.

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-merle-haggard-on-his-kennedy-center-honor-meeting-obama-and-oprah-and-more-20101228

“It was also nice to meet Obama and find him very different from the media makeout. It’s really almost criminal what they do with our President. There seems to be no shame or anything. They call him all kinds of names all day long, saying he’s doing certain things that he’s not. It’s just a big old political game that I don’t want to be part of. There are people spending their lives putting him down. I’m sure some of it’s true and some of it’s not. I was very surprised to find the man very humble and he had a nice handshake. His wife was very cordial to the guests and especially me. They made a special effort to make me feel welcome. It was not at all the way the media described him to be.”

  255. This could not be more true. I am so thrilled that people are starting to pick up on the caricatures and false narratives and poison memes about this POTUS!

There are people spending their lives putting him down.

Spending their lives, and making their livelihoods putting him down for incredibly unfair or even made-up reasons. Thank you, Mr. Haggard, for speaking up. This would indeed be a powerful entry!

  256. I think what Mr. Haggard said about the President is, for the most part, a wonderful thing to have out there in the world.

However, I don’t agree that the President is “in over his head.” He knows his own mind, he understands history, he has a developed sense of his policies and our place in the world today.

When you hear him answering questions during a press conference it’s clear that he knows what he wants to achieve. Compare any one of his interactions with the press to those of President Bush, and Mr. Haggard will see what it looks like to be “in over your head”.

  257. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! For filling the Black Hole of the Media and some folk’s mind with the accomplishments, extraordinary grace and intelligence of Barack Obama – I am inspired and thrilled that you put this site together and that so many are responding in kind. I have sent this to everyone on my email list – thank you and Happy New Year!

  258. Its true he has had so much mess to sort out from the bush years it takes time I am an environmentalist I want him to protect the nature and the animals also make bp pay for what they did to people jobs the natural environment they destroyed because of profit. Don’t despair give him time trust him god bless mr president

  259. While President Obama brilliantly cajoled 13 Republicans to join every Democratic senator to ratify the New Start nuclear arms treaty with Russia, adding (as the Times put it) “the capstone to what now shapes up to be a remarkably successful legislative agenda for President Obama’s first two years…” in an interview with The Times of London Julian Assange compared himself to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He also compared the Obama administration criticisms of him to the “persecution” endured by American Jews in the 1950s.

While President Obama signed the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell into law the Michael Moore – once again – interpreted history through what might be charitably called a very personal lens when he – again – let his readers know that yet more WikiLeaks documents mention him and his movies!

While President Obama orchestrated the push back in the Senate—that then unanimously approved a bill to pay for the medical care of workers who cleaned up ground zero… after McConnell and other Republicans blocked the bill, Markos Moulitsas on Daily Kos that blasted the President saying “It’s really obnoxious hearing Democrats like Obama trying to make that argument [that Obama needed to compromise with the Republicans on the tax cuts].”

Wait a minute, “Democrats like Obama”? Would that be President Obama you’re talking about so dismissively?

“One thing I hope people have seen during this lame-duck: I am persistent,” Mr. Obama said, at a news conference celebrating his end of year achievements. “If I believe in something strongly, I stay on it.”

Yes, and the President keeps proving that his rabid critics on the Right who are working so hard to undermine his presidency at every turn are no match for him.

He also keeps proving that, compared to the Left of the Democratic Party (let alone such “icons” as Assange) he knows how to get things done that actually change lives and matter. President Obama also seems to be the only grownup, not to mention the smartest person, in many a room.

While the Democratic Left navel gazes, inflates their own importance with articles about how they got mentioned in WikiLeaks (WOW!)… while Assange and others suffering from delusions of grandeur keep posturing as saviors of the human race, President Obama, Hilary Clinton, the late Richard Holbrooke et al, actually have been working for the good of America and the world.

The Senate ratified the New Start arms-reduction treaty, which the President said was his foreign-policy priority. Republicans surrendered, then grudgingly allowed the passage of the Sept. 11 legislation too. And that was after they tried to undermine the repeal of DADT.

The President never backed down. He won a string of bipartisan legislative triumphs. Meanwhile the Left keeps saying that to be bipartisan is a sign of weakness. Really?

The President’s Right Wing Republican critics are now thoroughly exposed as the hard-hearted empty suits they are.

President Obama’s Lefty critics look more and more like petulant teenagers.

Score One to President Obama, Zero to his critics.

Frank Schaeffer is a writer and author of Crazy for God: How I Grew Up as One of the Elect, Helped Found the Religious Right, and Lived to Take All (or Almost All) of It Back

  260. I quit reading Dkos a while ago and only heard about your troubles over there when jackass Greenwald dropped the despicable Godwin bomb on you for simply supporting president Obama. I’ve been a Balloon Juicer for several years, and the ugly that has now descended upon even the liberal blogs, is trying to take over that little Obot sanctuary. Anyways, good luck with your new blog, that I have bookmarked to visit more.

  261. Frank,

And what truly perplexes me about salacious amoral rapist anarchists like Assange and their ever so maniacal and entranced entourage of devoted insolent arbiters assuaging us to believe their seditious saviour`s innocence in intent and deed, is that the very “liberal” creed which Moore defines for “us” so soporfically in his superficial genre of tasteless diatribes will be the sorry victim of such mindless acts.

The brush of the libertine can be serpent like, emasculating and eliminating all ethical order in the guise of “free expression.”

What Bradley and Assange have done will end up incinerating the Constitutional guarantees the NY Times enjoys and remove the last vestige of artistic device by which those who now so flippantly and blindly support such a rascal of dishonor and disgust live, to the trash heap of self righteous entitlement.

  262. Hey LT:

You say : “it’s important that we stay on his case (like Fred Douglass stayed on Abe Lincoln’s) to get him to step up his game.) Sadly, you never cited one single example to support you assertion. I suppose that you assumed that everyone agrees with your historical take on what went on between Frederick Douglass and Pres. Lincoln. While it is true that Douglass, and the abolitionists, put pressure on Lincoln to free the salves, it is all true that not once did Douglass demonize Pres. Lincoln. Moreover, Douglass praised Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, though it was flawed as it did not free all the slaves. In contrast, you and the people who falsely claim to be Pres. Obama’s base have yet to give him any praise for all his accomplishments. You may be African American, but you are no Frederick Douglass. Douglass knew when to give praise whenever politicians took progressive steps even though those steps were not 100% of what he was fighting for. Douglass, unlike the holier than thou purist progressive who are into instant gratification, knew that struggle for progress required long distance runners and short distance runners. By the way, which Presidents you think belong in your 5% category of “great” presidents? What were their great achievements that are greater than those of President Obama? Finally, how can you say “Obama’s already taking” your “advice” when you don’t even know where BWD got “all these photos.” Personally, I am saddened that your comment is laced with disrespect of the President. But I suppose that is the trend with the holier than thou progressives who think that they know better than the man who was elected President by 70 million people.

  263. BWD:

Speaking for myself I am “overwhelmed” by the amount of work you’ve put in chronicling the accomplishments of this President. Like you, I am thankful that this country has this special man leading it, with grace dignity, intelligence and vision. I am especially thankful that we have selfless citizens, like you, and all those you have touched, brilliantly pushing back against those intent on spreading hatred and falsehoods against this hard working President. Your site is like a breath of fresh air. You, and the people who have been attracted to what you do, epitomize the essence, in my humble opinion, of what this President is all about: hard work, decency, vision, pragmatism, and above all sanity.

Thank You BWD for a brilliant job you are doing.

May the New Year bring you and your loved ones joy and good health!

  264. For this, Mr. Schaeffer,
I thank you a million times over. It’s good to know some are paying attention.

  265. I teared up at some of the thoughts and photos. I am so tired of hearing the negative attacks and lies from the right and far left. He’s one of the best Presidents we’ve ever had. So few give him the credit he deserves . . . I guess that’s why they call them “critics.” Thank you for the blog. What a nice way to end the year for me.

  266. Thank you…..those were just beautiful and touching…now, if we could just get the repubs. to care about their fellow citizens- UNDO citizens united-
force Fox to be truthful- end the wars- change our policies and improve the lives of Americans–oh, yeah…..jobs and a surging economy…THAT is my New Years’ wish for 2011…Happier New Year to all…!

  267. Great tribute. This president is by far and away the best president of my lifetime. I can’t imagine anyone representing my values, or displaying more integrity and intellectual honesty than Barack Obama does as our president. Thanks for this site BWD.

  268. This is simply amazing. Thank you for the photo montage. Thank you for your positivity; thank you for paying such generous tribute to a great President. BWD, thank you.

We need to publicize this so many millions of Obama supporters who are being inundated by haters on the left and on the right can come here to get a fix of positive energy. Thank you.

  270. THANK YOU so much for creating this! I’ve been looking for a blog where I can read POSITIVE things about my President. I have gotten to the point where I can’t stand the news anymore.

Mr. President, I have never waivered for even a SECOND in my support for you. I believe in you. THANK YOU for all you’ve done and for all that you will do. Keep doing what you do knowing that there are still MANY of us in your corner!! Happy New Year!

  271. This made me almost cry. Good tears, though. Thank God this incredible human being is in the White House. No wonder how much hate comes from the other side: he makes the contrast with Bush administration so painfully clear for those who voted GW into office, twice.

  272. I’m grateful for a President who is the smartest one in the room, who is willing to compromise rather then lose everything to ideology. I’m grateful for VP Biden, who wears his heart on his sleeve, and knows a BFD when he sees it

  273. So true, so so true. Thank you, thank YOU, THANK you for posting this. It really means a lot to those of us paying attention. 🙂

  274. Thanks Dude for the appreciation, for shining the light, for recognizing a job well done.

So refreshing to find people who can really be grateful for the good fortune when it comes, who can admire a person of good spirit without getting dragged down by the haters.

And yes it’s a good point to look back on 2 years of impressive effective work and funky coolness. Thanks BWD for this post.

  275. A relative of mine just sent me a New Year’s greeting email with a link to this post! Looks like the positive message is spreading.

    Happy 2011!

  276. I am so glad to find this site! I like our president and cannot understand how some people can be so blindingly hateful in their criticism of him. He is smarter than anyone else in government right now and has a big heart. He is what our country needs. Thank you.

  277. I am so glad to have found this site. President Obama is exactly what this country needs now: a caring and intelligent leader.

  278. I am so happy to see this! I am so tired of reading the vile posts on the Internet. Thanks!

  279. Moving and inspiring. It makes me want to be a better person. Thank you Mr. President and thank you for bringing this to light. Amazing.

  280. I moved to Indonesia two years ago, just as Obama was sworn in. It was hard to read about the political machinations that stymied what he hoped to do. Good to see him rebound, and I continue to have faith that he will prove to be an excellent president, bringing intelligence and true compassion in addressing the challenges before him.

  281. Thank you for an amazing New Year’s gift. I just found this on a link from a high school connection. Thank you for expressing my thoughts, my voice in a time when the only words I read and hear are caustic and negative. I am afraid of those who don’t see the truth as it sits right in front of them. I feel energized again and my first steps forward into 2011 will be safe in the realization that others think like me! THis is a new comment as I have never been on this site before.

  282. Thank you Mr. President for your leadership, your insights, perseverance, and your patience. Thank you for your family who are beautiful in their spirits. I check at least once a day to see that you and Michelle are okay under do much duress. You both are gracious and as smart as ever.

I am grateful to witness this presidency and what it has done for the American people.

  283. O-M-G, what an amazing compendium, thank you. I may not always agree with him, but we do indeed have an amazing man as President.

  284. ” I have seen the promised land.” I don’t remember many, if any, Presidents that have promoted equity and equality to the extent of Barack Obama. His goals go beyond budgets and deficits and extend into doing the right things for ALL people. The WORLD will be a better place
for his strength to quiet those opposed. Love thyself as thy neighbor. I have seen the promised land! Yes I can,yes you can, yes WE can!

  285. I agree with your sentiment. In some cases, it is the extreme left, the vindictive few Dems who never forgave Obama for beating Hillary–like Taylor Mash, Krugman..etc, then there is this mass organization of Repugs and T-partiers who have now taken over the Huffingtonpost and Dkos. They post as though they are disaffected Obama supporters but they never were, to begin with. It is a deliberate strategy to undermine what they consider Obama’s grassroots base.

And, they are tolerated and encouraged by these websites because the traffic generates advertisement dollars. Arianna, Markos and the likes of Frank Rich or Krugman could care less how much they harm this president.

So, yes, your sentiments are spot on. Thank you.

  286. We are all so lucky to have this man leading America and the world today. I have never seen a man so intelligent, so powerful and yet so humble at the same time.

Remember that biblical quip that says that the Greatest amongst us is one who serves us? This man exemplifies it. He humbly serves us–taking all the insults, stings and barbs–without complaint–who is Least amongst you is the Greatest.

God bless the President and his family. God Bless you BWD. Thank you for this website.

  287. This is beautiful! Let’s all remember that we need to help in our own special ways.

As a “reformed Republican” I know people can change. I certainly did–when I was in my 50’s. I realized I hadn’t been paying proper attention and didn’t know what each party truly stood for. I researched and found out that I was an extremely liberal Democrat. I just thought I was a Republican because my father’s family had been since the Civil War era. So, don’t give up on anyone.

I refuse to believe that if we tell the truth about what (and who) each party supports, there would be precious few Republicans left.

I also have to point out what a shame it is that the Republicans coined the term “Moral Majority” and claimed Christianity as solely theirs, especially when I read the sentiments of so many comments on this blog. It’s peppered with “God bless . . .”, scriptures, and prayers. Many of us are Christians, too. The biggest difference is that we worship more quietly and we acknowledge and accept others’ beliefs more readily. We need to spread that word!

The abortion issue is a shame also. As I’m sure many others are, I’m pro-life BUT also pro-choice. (If people researched it, our President feels the same way.) But, we have allowed the Republicans to label us as anti-life, which is sooo untrue. We cannot sit back idly any longer or we’re going to lose the fabulous leadership we have right now.

President Obama can lead us, but we have to follow and no longer be afraid to speak up. Be armed with facts, but be unafraid. He’s doing what’s best for America without regard for his political future. Can we not do the same?

For facts and ideas, feel free to read my newly-started blog: http://truthorpolitricks.blogspot.com/

I’m sending letters to editors and to my Congressional delegation. I’ll be adding lots more, so keep checking back and please join me.

  288. Wow blackwaterdog, I am so impressed by this post. No wonder you “continued” with it. Thank you so much for posting at Palingates. It seems to me we are all ON THE SAME PAGE. We know President Obama made great strides and more happens everyday. I love my President. I will vote for him again.

  289. Hi Blackwaterdog. Glad I found your blog. Miss your great contribution to DKos but I understand. Keep up the beautiful work.

  290. Thank You for your stregnth and perserverance, I am so proud to call you my President Obama!

  291. All you need to do is just remember WHO is it that is giving this potentially great man a bad rap.

  292. Charles Krauthammer:
The great liberal ascendancy of 2008, destined to last 40 years (predicted James Carville), lasted less than two. Yet, the great Republican ascendancy of 2010 lasted less than two months. Republicans will enter the 112th Congress with larger numbers but no longer with the wind – the overwhelming Nov. 2 repudiation of Obama’s social-democratic agenda – at their backs.

“Harry Reid has eaten our lunch,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham, lamenting his side’s “capitulation” in the lame-duck session. Yes, but it was less Harry than Barry. Obama came back with a vengeance. His string of lame-duck successes is a singular political achievement. Because of it, the epic battles of the 112th Congress begin on what would have seemed impossible just one month ago – a level playing field.

Apparently much of the political opposition to DADT repeal is to an Obama win of any kind. The term “asshole” doesn’t even begin to describe those people.

*They were so busy hating and spreading the lies, they did not see Barry coming. After a one-two punch down, when they recovered their consciousness, Barry was on Airforce One to Hawaii, Harry was on his way to Nevada and Nancy on her way to California–they could not tell who took their lunch!!!* It was a beauty for the history books.*

  293. Commenters like Puten Tame:

what is the point of such a comment, really? It is anonymous venom directed at someone whose job is tough to begin with, made complex by the screw ups of their predecessors and the intractable political opposition that serves a plutocratic agenda, first last and always.

So what manner of person decides: “Today I will get online and hate on people trying to change a bad situation”. Are they comfortable with the sorry state of things? Are they rooting for the destruction of unions and new era of subminimum wage in the US. Maybe Chinese wages? Are they hoping to be one of the winners in global warming? Do they somehow profit from people not getting health care? No, not likely that we have members of Skull and Bones bothering.

What we have making such a comment are people who NEED everyone to view the world their way. The very idea of someone holding a different view is, to them, not an interesting idea, but a threat to their concept of order in the universe, right and wrong, black and white. These are small and impoverished souls, hiding behind anonymous internet names to inflict their bad karma just for the sake of telling us “It scares me that there are people different from me”. When I read a comment like that on this site, or on those sites where such comments have taken over, it is proof that some people are attracted to political sites not because they think they are part of positive change, but because they are frightened of the world and more frightened by people trying to change things. I guess if you think Man is inherently sinful, there is no reason to think government will be anything but an enterprise in collective sinfulness.

  294. The use of the name “Barry” is for one reason and one reason ONLY. As a show of disrespect in the most disdainful way possible in ‘polite’ society. It’s what my grandmother used to call “nice nasty”.
Mr. Krauthammer may be smart, but he is no gentleman, and no match for our President, who is both.

  295. Absolutely. I agree. The right Wing has never shown proper respect to the President. They have even interrupted his State of the Union address once before.

  296. Yeah, I’ll bet I can’t comment.

“If the president wants to throw another $300 or $400 billion, what he’s doing is taking it right out of businesses, right out of employment, right out of competitiveness. We need to make sure we compete.”

Where were these cries concerning the defense budget? Where were YOU, Mr. Issa? Hello? And now you’re concerned?

I don’t want to raise the debt ceiling either, but you see, we are kind of in a pickle. I don’t have time to explain to you what that means, but if you ask, I will do my best.

  297. Hey BWD,

I want to compliment you on your beautiful post (above). I am so impressed. I will remember it. Thank you for the love that you give and share. It inspires me to be as giving, loving, and sharing as you are.

    InJapan HeartSurgeon Number1 SteadyHand

  298. VERY, very nice slide show (a lot of the photos I first saw on BWD’s posts at the old site) plus a nice collection of photos of the First Lady too.
Actually it’s a nice little site, 3chicspolitico. Never heard of them before.
Interesting posts, good vibes. I like the way they called out one or two “big talkers” for complaining about the President. They’re looking for action, not just talk!

  299. The first truly GREAT president of my lifetime, and I’m 52. This guy is one of the greatest EVER, and history will prove it out. He is battling hugely evil forces in your country, corporations clinging to power desperately, trying to re-establish Fascism vaguely disguised as ‘Democracy’ (that should really be relabelled ‘Democrazy’). And an electorate to beat-up to give a shit. This guy knows all that, and he systematically outsmarting them all. He has put you back as No. 1, America, after the world shuddering in disbelief after two terms of that other idiot/asshole you elected. Get on side and SUPPORT him; he is a truly great and good man, and he’s doing his best for you. That’s all you can really ask.

God bless you and your family, President Obama, and may you stay safe and happy right through Michelle’s second term! The good people of the earth believe in you…we’ve got your back.

    Sincerely,
    Cameron

  300. Hey BWD family, the negative narrative in MSM appears to be failing. President Obama’s approval numbers are on the up and up; far higher than any president’s numbers in living memory, at this stage of their presidency.

I read Krugman’s piece in New York Times yesterday, he seems now to be toning down–walking back in fact. He had been scathing and unrelenting on the President. But, after being called out by Frank Schaeffer, he seems to now acknowledge that the President has in fact managed to stop the hole-digging; the economy is on its way back.

And, there is the Jon Stewart thing last night on President Obama as Luke Skywaker–Return of the Jedi–it is getting an excellent response from Stewart’s fans. This is refreshing.

Keep up the positivity fellas. We all need it; pray for the President.

  301. Do you have a link to that Krugman piece? I missed it and would love to read it, and to show a good friend of mine who always quotes Krugman to me.

  302. It is wonderful. I too am still a believer. It is so great to see some older photos because it allows me to remember moments when I first viewed them. Touches my heart.

  303. Thank you for bringing tears to the eyes of an old cynic just about ready to turn in her citizenship and willing to take her chances elsewhere.
And thank you Mr. Frank Schaeffer for providing the link, not only to this beautiful tribute but, once again to my place in this nation.

  304. I’m stopping by for my daily dose of hope. I love all your comments and may God continue to bless our wonderful president and family

  305. Hello family, I found this post by Eric Boehlert just beautiful. The title is: Why, why can’t Fox News Dent Obama’s Approval rating? See copy below:

The new year got off to a dark, dismal start for Fox News staffers when on Monday, Gallup posted its latest polling results regarding Obama’s job rating: He hit it the 50 percent approval mark, having climbed nine points from a low in late October. It was the first time Obama had reached the symbolic half-century mark since late May 2010, and I’m guessing folks at Fox News were not happy.

And there was more bad news for Fox this week. Another poll, this one from Opinion Research, found that nearly two-thirds of Americans hope Obama succeeds this year, while 73 percent “approve” of Obama as a person.

So why the sad faces at Fox News? Because it’s the job of Rupert Murdoch’s cable channel to make sure Obama fails. Fox News, along with the larger, unreliable GOP Noise Machine, remains dedicated to undermining and destroying Obama’s presidency. Not to hold Obama accountable or challenge his polices, but to destroy his presidency. Fox News’ entire corporate mission is to be an anchor around Obama’s neck and to drive his approval numbers into the 30s.

And right now, Fox News is losing. Despite its Herculean efforts, Fox News over the last year has been unable to move the needle on Obama’s Gallup rating:

    -Jan. 2, 2010: 51 percent

    -June 2, 2010: 49 percent

    -Jan. 2, 2011: 50 percent

Why the futility? It’s probably because outside the walls of the right-wing media echo chamber, news consumers are becoming numb to the relentless attacks and hysterical claims made about Obama.

It’s telling that the president has been able maintain that same level of support for more than a year despite a hyper-active right-wing media machine that stretches from television to radio and to the internet and is dedicated to furiously attacking him on an hourly basis. It’s a machine that remains utterly committed to ginning up every conceivable type of controversy to drag Obama, his administration, and even his family through the mud in an endless attempt to discredit the man and to destroy his presidency.

Yet in the face of that avalanche of invective, there Obama sat this week, right around Gallup’s 50 percent approval mark, which put him, at least temporarily, 13 points higher than where Ronald Reagan was at the same juncture of his first term in office.

It must be driving Fox News bonkers.

  306. Thank you so much for this uplifting reminder that we have the best president we have had in our lifetime. Bless you, Barack. We’re with you!

  307. As a Libertarian-leaning independent I worry about some of President Obama’s past associations and influences, and many of his present policies. Still, I am able to admire him as a person and am proud that we have him as president. Your tribute encapsulates our president’s better qualities beautifully. Well-done. I hope millions see this.

  308. What never ceases to amaze me is how idiots–people with no discernible qualifications or expertise–people who sit before a t.v camera and blather gabledegook endlessly seem to think they are smarter than Mr. Obama. People like Arianna, Ratigan, Maddow, Matthews, Taylor Marsh, Hamscher and the rest of them–some driven by jealousy, others by ageold bigoty–are so invested in peddling the negative narrative, Mr. Obama is well-served to ignore them. They want him to fail so they can feel vindicated.

After all the naysaying we have heard since Mr. Obama took office, the economy has steadily created jobs modestly but conistently for the last 12 months, with the latest growth being the biggest yet. Yet, like ingrate imbeciles, they continue to peddle rubbish, unperturbed by the glaring contradictions in their own claims.

It is obvious that the electioneering for 2012 is beginning. The political reality is that voters who see themselves as independents contitute 38%, Dems 31, Repugs 29 and I suspect the professional, extremist left is possibly 2 to 5%. They do not matter in the larger scheme of things. Remember how they huffed and puffed againt the tax deal? As it turned out, polling showed that most Americans supported the President and as a result, they lost the argument. The president understood the mood of the country, not the extreme leftist fringe.

The naming of Delay is presently being applauded by most Dems, businesses and some Repugs and as a result, the angry left will be ignored and the hiring momentum will pick up pace quite soon.

Obama is not just the only the adult in the room; he is the smartest, bar none. Now they can complain about few jobs being created, which is better than jobs being lost. One would have to be either so stupid, blinded by hate or bigotry or all of these, to scold the president for not creating 8 million jobs in 2 years. As far as I am concerned, President Obama is a miracle worker. He has accomplished in 2 years what W could not in 8. The extreme left can go to hell for all I care.

  309. We have seen today what hate can do to a people. A congresswoman is fighting for her life; a 9-year-old girl, a federal judge and three others are dead, all because of the hate spewed by the Right Wing haters, Palin disciples and the FOX hate machine. What a sad day!

  310. Peter thanks a great find…I luv, luv, luv Prez Obama’s Swagger, First Lady Michelle’s Finesse, and the Wee Michelles’ pics!!! ::two-thumbs up::

  311. Thank you SO MUCH for your posts, I often cry at work looking at them! LOVE OUR PRESIDENT, FIRST LADY and everything he’s doing for the country. That speech the other night was amazing, I am so proud of that speech!

Have a great weekend, thank you thank you for this blog.

    from Los Angeles, California

  312. Thank you for gathering President Obama’s inspiring actions and words together with your appreciative and loving heart. There are two positive places I know I can go to be uplifted and inspired. One is the White House site and the other is right here.

I believe what we look at and give our attention to is probably the most important choice we make — it defines the path we walk. What a beautiful path it is — President Obama and his staff, you and this community — it pleases me so much to walk this path with all of you.

Blessed be, Blackwaterdog, and thank you. @>—-

  313. As always, BWD, I want to thank you for all your continuous hard work (along w/others) to honor our President and his accomplishments by SPREADIN’ THE WORD…You’re appreciated…May your New Year be a happy, healthy & prosperous one! ::Hugs::

And, what I/we want to say to PBHO for facing the most difficult and loneliest job in the world with grace, dignity, honesty and guts…

As MJ’s song says, “You Are Not Alone!” http://tinyurl.com/mvead9

Neither is Congresswoman Giffords and the other Tucson survivors!

  314. A+++++ Excellent!!!

Thank you so much for this blog, BWD! I loved your diaries on Daily Kos but how did I ever live before this awesome blog? Lol.

Seriously, thank you BWD and eternal gratitude to our most wonderful president!!!

  315. I have to say this as carefully as I am able. I am not a religious person and border on the atheist. In fact religious fervor will most often put me off. Having said that, I was listening to an interview with Patti Smith on Charles Rose and she said that her former partner, Robert, belived that artists hold the hand of God, but not literally. He meant that they were driven to express the truth and beauty of our universe.
Now that made me think about PBO and I think I can say, in a similar way, that he strongly holds the true hand of Jesus, not literally, but daily follows, acts on and exemplifies the teachings of Jesus – Do unto others…; What you do for the least of you…; You are your brothers keeper…
This I can accept and embrace. He does it quietly with no shouting and no preaching, but simply leads by example, and that is, I think, what makes him a great man and a great President. For this I am grateful.

  316. So, so glad you updated this … please keep doing so (she says through her tears).

  317. Oh, I just love these photos. I have a special album of photos I’ve saved from the campaign. Candidate Obama standing (with the crowd) in the rain giving his speech, the rallies (Portland, Berlin, etc.), and his feet on the desk (as above) but his shoes have holes in the soles. What did America do to deserve this humble, intelligent, compassionate, person with wisdom? Thank you so much for having this place for people like me. And we must keep sharing it with others. A picture is worth a thousand words.

  318. That was perfect. Thank you for such an intelligent and well-worded response to a misaligned comment. You’re a great example, as we all attempt to be.

  319. Thank you BWD. We are so incredibly blessed to have Mr. Obama leading the world at this time. It is amazing to watch him work.

He handled Egypt in a manner beyond description. Anyone who claims to know how this man thinks and works, is a liar. Even watching the so-called experts and pundits on air, one minute they thought he was neutral, the next they thought he was indecisive; then with the protesters and the next they thought he was with the Dictator. But, if you look at his Cairo speech alongside his speech today, you can begin to fully understand not only his actions for the last 17 days but his gameplan for the Middle East and Africa. It is no coincident that the dictatorship Egypt, the most influencial country in the Arab world fell the same moth Sudan, the largest and most oppressive country in Africa granted independence to its oppressed minority.

President Obama led as if he did not lead; guided and advised as if he did not. He was the invisible hand and the invisible force that was hardly noticed but helped young Egyptians bend the arc of history toward Justice.

    Thank you Mr. Obama.

  320. Along with millions of others, I wept yesterday as I watched the Egyptians realize their dream and peacefully force a dictator out. “Sic semper tyrannis” Then I wept again as I watched the President’s speech…then laughed with him at the press conference. The total decency and loving humanity of this man never ceases to amaze me.
We heard him in Oklahoma City in April 2007, when he just began his journey. During that speech he said “Politics is not a game. It is serious work.” Too long people have treated it as a win/lose game….and we the people have lost. He knows it is serious work, and his steady, consistent, behind the scenes work is, I believe, finally becoming apparent to people.
    Thank you President Obama.

  321. He seems to be one of the few who take an oath to serve this country, and take that oath seriously.
I remember years ago, many years ago, Marianne Williamson talking about “Charisma”. She said that the magnetism — that “It” factor — was not only a huge responsibility, but a spiritual contract that needed to be honored. She said that the world was littered with people who did not honor their gift. Actors, musicians, politicians, on drugs, in sex scandals, and broke.
I don’t know about the theory, but it resonates for me, and I think of it every once in awhile when I look at our President. A shining example. He respects himself, his family, his obligations.
    His word is his bond.

  322. I really appreciated the manner in which the President handled the crisis in Egypt.

    Thank you.

The youngsters and people in Iran, the Green Movement, is going to need our help now. They are going to need voices of support as wisdom. They want to be free from the tyrants who control their country.

God help their souls and please help them.

  323. I thank God daily for blessing the world with President Obama and for giving me the awesome privilege of being a witness to this time in our history.

I am thrilled to be among like-minded folks when I come to this blog..Thank you so much BWD for creating this positive space. You are using your gifts wisely.

  324. Greetings from Toronto, Canada….
You are fortunate in that you have someone who is magical and who, by his very presence, commands respect wherever he goes and with whomever he meets. This is primarily because of his belief in the inherent good of the American people and unyielding optimism about the future for his country. Clearly, it is not about power for him. Rather , like any loving parent, he works tirelessly to ensure that you all are safe, secure, happy and protected. Unlike most, he brings an elegant refinement and integrity, a keen intellect seldom before seen.

He brings that intangible something we call joie de vivre – joy of life.

President Obama, a man who is absent the ego that feeds on the frailties of others, is an individual who, with all of his many gifts, seems awestruck by the dignity of the office of his office and the solemnity of his duty to the people. He is honest and prudent and unflinchingly open about his decisions, about who he is and where he stands on the issue of the human and civil rights of the American people.
There are a considerable number of Canadians who cherish President Obama as our own and have an ongoing conversation about what it would be like to see him move to Canada to provide leadership and teach at one of our world-class universities once he finishes his tenure as President. That would provide him with the freedom he so longs for – to just be himself and live his dreams.

Everything must change and nothing stays the same America; believe in him, respect him and listen to him. From out here, he is a rare human being –and the very survival of your nation hinges on his wisdom and abiding love for America.

  325. I salute you emeraldeyes..no better words have ever been spoken. We love this man and we are glad he is ours… but we are willing to share so the world can become a better place.

    Thanks for your kind thoughts.

  326. I agree. WH & BWD are the only two sites that i care to visit for info about our beloved President Obama. Also thanks to all for the great links. It’s great how statements are backed by FACTS. Love to you all,
    KRod

  327. I waited 40 years for greatness to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Your post captures the spirit of a man history will judge as one of our best, most consequential Presidents. You did an awesome job, with excellent photos and pitch-perfect captions. It’s a beautiful, visual narrative, and we’re only half-way to his 2nd inauguration.

  328. This was a truly moving tribute to our President. This is how I have always felt about him and to see it in pictures and a video is amazing. President Obama is a good man, a down-to-earth soul, who is trying to make things better. You have shown this here on this website. Good, good job.

  329. I am grateful that President Obama does not shoot from the hip. He waited until the Americans were safely out of Libya before making any statements concerning Gadaffy and what he should do. Even when people yell at him to act precipitately, he does not. He thinks, considers and waits until the time is right. Good for him! Thank you for this epic poem. I check it every once in a while. It makes me feel good.

  330. There is a great article on NYT on Prez. Obama written by Roger Cohen. It is a great article. The title is: Oh, what a lucky Man

Check it out if you can. It is uplifting. Check it here:

  331. I am so glad to hear and see this posting…I beleive in President Obama not because he is black but because he’s smart and knows how to keep things on the straight and narrow..I kinow lots of people frown on the way he’s running the country and we all should try to support him… he’s a brillant orator and has
a wit that seems to capture us all on a very human level…I pray for him, that he continues to show the world just how great he is and how great he will run the country.
Keep up the good work Mr. Bbama. Show the country how smart you are I’m 100% behind you! God Bless & your family always***
