  3. In honor of Deaniac83 and his TPV colleagues, the following is my birthday greetings to President Obama:

    Dear Mr President,

A wonderful supporter of yours and a brilliant analyst, “Deaniac93″ at The People’s View commented to me that Radical Republicans “”they don’t like to do this reading thing very much … .”

To which I responded, “… the more one looks at the reality of what is now law, the more one realizes that Boehner and McConnell could not have either read or comprehended what the implications for them are.

At the core of this law, they are firmly stuck between the interests of the MIC (and their behemoth lobbyists) and the non-MIC uber-wealthy (hedge fund managers, bankers, petro corporations, and other recipients of massive subsidies and tax breaks). Because the only options for Boehner and the Radical Republican Party are to either accept that the Bush tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations are not renewed along with other subsidies and tax loop holes being eliminated, or face a massive reduction in defense spending.

They are legally prohibited from touching Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security with the exception of some minor adjustments in Medicare provider support.

Boehner and his gang of extortionists and Senate enablers will face well before the end of this year the stark, unavoidable, legislatively mandated reality – they either place the National Security of the United States at risk in order to serve the special interests of the ultra-wealthy, big oil, corporate jet owners, etc. … or not.

Hmmm … tough choice, you betcha.

They should have listened to the President when he told them – send me a ‘clean bill’ or get serious and let’s do something truly big and balanced.

Instead, blinded by their arrogance, disabled by their lack of intellectual discipline, they resorted to grandstanding and extortion. Now, when they open the bag they’re going to find monopoly money and a little note – ‘read the law, dude, and weep.’ ”

    We get it Mr President.

    Happy Birthday,
    Bob

  18. Thanks BWD for the amazing video. My heart is overjoyed when I see this man smiling so beautifully.

I wonder and sometimes can hardly contain my self, that this beautiful spirit choose a career in politics, and he became our president.

From the first time I heard him speak in 2004 at the DNC convention, I wanted him to be my president. I am so greatful and thankful that he is willing to work for us; somehow I think we deserve him.

I wish him continual good health, and good fortune; the kind that comes from the out pouring of love he receives from his family and all of us, around the globe and beyond.

Have the most amazing birthday Mr Preident #BO50 #Obama2012

  23. Happy Birthday President Obama! May the Lord heal the the stabs that your vicious opposition has knifed into your presidency and person. You have thrived in spite of their spite. You soldier on even if your own left flank screeches incessantly. You inspire many of us on how to triumph over adversity. So kick back and enjoy this day with your lovely wife, children, friends and family. I wish you a long long healthy and fulfilling life. And keep that hope-filled smile ALWAYS!!! Cheers Mr. President

  24. Happy Birthday, Mr. President! And gratitude abounding for the love and determination from this site.

  25. Happy, happy 50th birthday, Mr. President!

I don’t know where this country would be had you not run for the presidency and won. You have educated a great many of us, not only on issues, but on the politics as well! We here in Las Vegas will be out in the summer heat once again, campaigning for you!

  26. This slide show made my day–thank you. What a beautiful, incredible, inspiring, astonishingly brilliant man we have for a president. May his family surround him with love on his birthday and may all the decent people of this country open their eyes and see what a miracle this man is and how blessed we are by him.

  27. WHAT AN AMAZING B’ DAY VIDEO FOR PBO. THANKS BWD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST AND MOST LOVED PRESIDENT IN AMERICA’S HISTORY!

  28. That was a beautiful video, BWD! So glad to see our President smiling, laughing and so relaxed last night. Hope he has a fantabulous day!

  29. Happy Birthday President Obama. You are beautiful.

This from his speech last night was hilarious. :D
“By the time I wake up, I’ll have an email from AARP asking me to call President Obama and tell him to protect Medicare,” Obama joked during a fundraiser in Chicago on the eve of his birthday.

  30. Thank you for this uplifting video! Our President is awesome and so are you. Happy birthday President Obama!

  31. Happy 50th Birthday President Barack Hussein Obama!!! You are loved and appreciated by millions of us – hope you know that!!! And many more ……….

  33. Happy Birthday, Mr. President! Love you, love you love you! Enjoy this wonderful day with your incredible family and your friends…relax, recharge, and renew, Got your back:) Love you, love you, love you!

  34. Brilliant, BWD! Let’s make it viral!

A thought occurred to me which I haven’t seen posted anywhere: the proof that Barack Hussein Obama is a Christian? He even loves his enemies (although he may not like what they do).

    Happy half-a-century birthday, Mr. President!
May your next year be outrageously successful, may your next term in office bring you the support you so richly deserve and the fulfillment of your vision, and may you enjoy another 50 years!

  35. On behalf of all the positively, positive Obamabots in Trinidad and Tobago,Happy Birthday Mr. President. Do enjoy your 50th, and may the coming year fill you with even greater success, vision, hope, stamina, and fighting spiriit, as you journey on your quest with forward progression for America and the American people. Much love, light and laughter.

  36. Ahhhh, this is beautiful. Thanks so much BWD. The president is a gift to us and the world.

Happiest of birthday wishes to you, Mr. President. Enjoy the day with those you love the most without a crisis, real or imagined, to mar the day.

    We love and support you.

  37. Happy Birthday President Obama.

The world recognizes and appreciates what you have done to avert a world economic catastrophe, tried to move more people towards peace and understanding of each other and their cultures and that the real strength ,core values , grace , intellect, reason, empathy and understanding of issues before action are many of the things that have made you a superb President in perilous times.

Onward to 2012 and the second term that will seal your place in history as one of America’s greatest Presidents.

  38. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to President Barack Obama. You are my ROCK and you are my FLAME.

    Thank you Stanley Ann Dunham

In an interview, Barack Obama referred to his mother as “the dominant figure in my formative years… The values she taught me continue to be my touchstone when it comes to how I go about the world of politics.”

  39. Smiling through my tears this morning, BWD. Thank you for this gift.

It is no wonder PBO is going to take a listening/road trip to the heartland. He needs to get out of crazy town more and see just how much love there really is out here for him.

  40. So many incredible, sentimental photos. Thank you, BWD. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mr. President. We are with you, stand by you, wherever you go. #BO50

  41. Happy Birthday and my heartfelt thanks for your leadership. You are the best of my generation.

  42. BWD, loved your video it was really moving and celebratory .

However, I do think there should have been a clip with the awesome Nancy Pelosi who was so crucial to PBO’ success and maybe Harry Reid as well.
    Just for historical note.

  43. Yet 64% of Repubs are unhappy with the deal! There is a disconnect between what Boner says and the reality of his caucus. At least President Obama was honest enough to admit that he wasn’t thrilled about this deal but that was the best that could be done under prevailing circumstances.

  44. I just read the following prayer in one of my daily devotionals. Let’s all picture our president in the ‘circle of safety and love.’

Dear God, You, too, draw a line and create a circle of safety and love into which no shadow can fall, where our hearts and minds can dwell safely in You.

    Happy 50th, Mr. President.

  45. Fantastic tribute BWD. It brought me to tears. Happy Birthday Mr President!

  46. BWD and all readers,
I fully enjoyed all the video. I fully intended to send it to my 80 year old sister who probably is not yet an Obama supporter but is also someone who when exposed to his human side begins to get a more clear picture of who he is. She would never get that picture from the daily newspapers and radio/tv that she attends to. Then my wife pointed out the picture within the last 15 seconds. It shows a picture of President Obama and a sign with “Shut the F—K up…..” It would do a lot of damage to my sister’s perception of our president by sending it to her. BWD, I don;t know if you intended to include that picture. It does not seem to conform to your standards on this website. I am no prude but, I do not see a reason to be crude in order to get a point across. Can you cut that picture out so I can use it?

Along the same lines, last night at a President Birthday Party I participated with about 30 others who had come out for early organizing. At some point in the evening someone said that it is often difficult to get the straight story from the press including public TV and radio. I spoke up and mentioned BWD and this website as a source which I have come to see as very valuable. Many people were not familiar and wrote it down. This morning I feel some embarrassment because again some peoples’ comments on here are laced with vulgarities. It does not offend me but it does not help me understand what it is you want to say. It however does offend a lot of people to whom I like to send this website. Please as you post think of who is reading your comments. Thanks for listening.
    Phil

  47. Oh my dear BWD, that is so completely lovely. Tears and smiles on this end. I sure do love that man for his integrity, his vision, his persistence, his humor, his fundamental goodness., And it’s good to know — and to be shown, as you have done here — that millions of others feel as I do. It’s altogether too easy to lose sight of this important love and trust and admiration off here in my little corner of the world, Thank you so much,

  48. 50, wow, Mr. president. 50 is a big number.

Happy Birthday to You, the version of Steve Wonder.

    The big 50.

    And many more.

    Awesome BWD.

  50. Love the sinner, hostage takers, not the sin or in this case, the vile wicked act of ransom.

The POTUS, the 2 letters, United States.

The big difference between pres Obama and the split the baby in half, TBGOPers.

  51. Beautiful, beautiful slideshow, Blackwaterdog.

He even looks presidential as a baby, don’t you think? :)

Happy, happy, happy Birthday, President Obama!

  55. I just got this e-mail from FLOTUS urging people to sign a happy birthday card for PBO.

Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family. That’s no small task for anyone — and more proof that he’s earning every last one of those gray hairs.

This has been a busy week in Washington, but today happens to be Barack’s 50th birthday. I’m writing to you because this year, the girls and I would like to do something a little different.

I’m asking friends and supporters of this campaign to wish him a happy birthday by signing his card, and sharing why you’re on this journey with us.

Your names and notes will become part of a book that tells the story of this campaign — who’s building it, why we’re in this thing, and what he means to us. We’ll deliver a copy to Barack and send one to our campaign offices across the country.

    Sign the card for Barack.

I’ve known Barack for more than 20 of his 50 years, and we’ve been through quite a lot together.

It still amazes me that no matter how many decisions and distractions he’s faced with every day, he’s always able to focus on the bigger picture. One way he does that is by making time for stories and letters from people like you — because he knows that this job isn’t about him, but about the millions of folks around the country he’s fighting for.

This next year will challenge us all to work harder than ever before, but the crucial thing is that you’re here now, early on, helping to build this campaign.

I know that, like Barack and me, you have your own reasons why, so I hope you’ll take a moment to sign the card and share your story with him and other supporters of this campaign.

Thanks for being a part of this,

I signed and sent this note:

PBO, you inspire me. Your fortitude, your human spirit and your love for this country is infectious. Thank you for the example you set for all of us. Please get some rest. Know that we love and cherish you for all you do. If you are ever on Internet, check out these blogs, The People’s View, Blackwaterdog and the Obama Diary. You will find that you are much loved and your supporters here will never let you down.

    Love

PS: Please take some time off to relax with Mrs. Obama, our lovely FLOTUS, Malia and Sasha. God Bless you, always.

  56. Hey BWD, just received this email from FLOTUS, feel free to add to the thread:

  57. sadly, I’m posting from work!! where the firewall doesn’t allow me to go to youtube!! :( That’s why I can’t find the direct link.

But thank you for the response!! :)

  58. I wasn’t done crying from BWD’s video when I read your post and laughed out loud. “Read the law, dude and weep.” Perfect.

  59. Happy Birthday, Mr. President. Thank you for choosing to lead our Nation during these trying times. I’m grateful every day that you were born. Bless you and your family always.

Thanks for the wonderful video, BWD. No one does it better.

  60. Thanks, africa:) Sent my birthday message and my love and support for this MOST incredible human being.

  61. 50 years! Mr. President, it seems just like yesterday you were a 43 year-old kid giving that wonderful speech at the Democratic National Convention. Happy Birthday!

  62. What a lovely, lovely tribute to a lovely man! And, yes, it did make me cry. President Obama DOES bring out the love in addition to all of the other good he does!

  63. Dear Phil, 80 years ago people did not watch TV, did not use cell phones nor computers, nor did they zip around on jet airplanes. Things and people have changed a lot in the last 80 years.
This is a blog and not a church. Although cussing may bother you, it does not bother 95%+ of the people on this blog. PLEASE, do not try to change others on here, Preachy -changey is just not received well here.

  64. Happy Birthday Mr. President and many well wishes w/ the progress you are endurance. May God Bless you and your family. I would like to thank you for all of your service.

  65. May the Universe fill you with divine song and intuition, so that you continue to guide with wisdom and love.

    Happy Birthday Mr. President !

  66. Though I have many quibbles with the conventional “wisdom” in the American government and the American psyche, I must say that this is absolutely the first American President I have ever trusted on a personal level. He is politically savvy, of course, but I firmly believe that the decisions he makes in regard to the country are based on what he believes is the best way forward, even if only incrementally, rather than on political expedience. I have never believed this about any of our previous Presidents, Democrat or Republican.

  67. ♥ Bob! You are one of my heroes and your letters are just amazing.

Mr Prez didn’t need to gloat. He won this round for the American people and we know it.

  68. Wow! Sis only expected about 20 at our House Party last night and over 30 showed up. We collected $430. in donations which is on its way to OFA today and signed up some new people to work for PBO and local campaigns. We are all IN. FIRED UP, READY TO GO!

  69. We wish you a happy birthday, a joyful and celebrating birthday.
Mr. President, we wish you a long long life.

Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Mr. President. Happy birthday to you.

  70. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR PRESIDENT!

From one of your grateful supporters. You can count on me and mine to stand with you and for you in the days ahead.

  71. Great video BWD!

Happy Birthday Mr. President . . . thank goodness you were born . . . we really need you! I got your back! (And yours too BWD!)

  72. I love what you wrote, africa. I also responded to Michelle’s invitation to sign the card, and contributed $50 for his 50th. Like everyone here, I love this President with my whole heart and soul. I love everything about him—-his values and ideals, his intellect, patience, determination, judgment, character, heart, everything. He is the best I’ve ever seen.

  73. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing that. I have written it down to save it. I always picture PBO in a protective circle of light every day. I will use this prayer when I send him that daily protection. Bless you!

  74. Happy Birthday, Mr. President, with best wishes for the coming year. And–as they say–50 is the new 30! Hope you can lead this nation for many, many years to come.

  75. OK, that didn’t work – it needs a US zip code, and I am not going to lie.

So I stick to what I wrote this morning on Twitter:

@barackobama Congratulations, Mr. President, with your 50th birthday; have a nice holiday ! #BO50
@barackobama This must be a prime opportunity for your constituents to sent 50 $ to your re-election fund. #BO50
@barackobama As an alien, I do not have that luxury. Perhaps I can send 50 Euros to a charity of your choice ? #BO50
@barackobama Please indicate which ones. Lets call it: “The Great 50th Anniversary’s Charity Spending Binge” :-) #BO50

  76. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRESIDENT OBAMA!! I continue to be “All In”. Thanks for this tribute to the President BWD. Excellent pictoral and the track you hooked it up with is fantastic. It is a cover by WET WET WET named “Love is All Around Me”. The original artists of course are the “Troggs” from 1960’s fame. Very fitting. Love you Mr President, love you BWD, and Love TOAITR, and Love my Progressive family. Obama/Biden 2012!!

  77. Amen! President Barack Obama exemplifies everything my husband and I stand for: DECENCY! DIGNITY! and DIVERSITY! Happy Birthday to the finest president we have known in our 75 years. The criticism this man endures is unbelievable. I think V.P. Joe Biden is right. President Obama must have a backbone of steel and I would guess we “ain’t seen nothin” yet!”

  78. Happy Birthday Mr. president! May God Bless and guide you. Thanks for all you do on behalf of our country. I love and support you. Cheers!

  79. Great video. Had me smiling from start to finish. But what’s so fantastic about it are the smiles on the faces and utter joy of people from EVERY race, EVERY ethnicity, EVERY economic class, ALL ages, and both sexes when they’re close to this President.. I’ve NEVER seen that many people that represent so many differences show that kind of love towards a U.S. President…. let alone to a “political”.figure

I gotta tell you, I’m a Black man who is definitely proud of Barack Obama being POTUS “just because”… but my pride is overshadowed by my admiration for his innate and effortless ability to appeal to ALL types of people despite all of the seething, contemptuous hate he receives from those who could NEVER even come close to his level of mass appeal. They’re what we simply call, “NATURAL BORN HATERS”… and this country is full of them. Always have been, always will be.

But he’s “bigger” than they are… always have been and will always be. And we’ll ALWAYS admire and respect THIS President no matter what. Not just because he’s the President… but because of the kind of Man… the type of person, the type of “human being” he is. Love ALWAYS conquers Hate… no matter how much “promotion” the latter gets.

So Happy 50th Mr. President… my Brotha… “Blood”…. “Dog”. (smile) Getcho par-tay ohn… and take an extra sip of the bubbly for the Brothers and Sisters of ALL ethnicities who couldn’t be there with you in body but are ALWAYS with you in spirit….

…. ’cause ain’t no party like PBO party ’cause a PBO party WON’T STOP!!!

  80. Happy Birthday, Barack – Mr. President. Blessed by God comes with big responsibilities, and you’re coming along all right. May you have many more years ahead.
