Lip Synching

The entire Obama family, with an entourage of 12 stitches, went to see Craig Robinson’s Oregon State playing Howard University today in Washington. The president, BTW, is still pretty pretty.

  1. That family – forgetting completely about politics for the moment – is as inspiring as a Rockwell painting – but REAL.

  2. What a beautiful, beautiful family:)The President looks fabulous…I’m sure that he’s got the best Dr’s around…not a bad sew job. We’ll hardly notice when it heals. Nice pics!

  3. wonderful family, and it’s good to see all of them together, just enjoying one another’s company.

ps bwd, anyway you can change such a dark background? lighten it up a bit?

  4. In IE, you can go to Internet options/Accessibility (at the bottom right corner)/Formatting and check “Ignore colors specified in webpage”. The background changes to white.

I believe you can do the same in firefox too.

  5. The cut does not appear to the cross the vermilion line–the line where the lips end and facial skin begins. If a cut crosses the vermilion line, it is much harder to repair. This cut looks to be all lip and a plastics closure was done so should heal nicely. But, he shouldn’t be chewing gum with stitches in his mouth!

  6. Love the picture with Sasha linking her arms through both parents. Can’t fathom why anyone would hate this beautiful family…

  7. President Obama looks great, owie lip and all. And didn’t Sasha look happy as a lark to be with mom and dad on the family outing? Kids remember fun family events over all others.

  8. Thoreau called time, “The stream I go fishing in.”

I like the black background. It makes the type clearer, at least to my eyes.

Seems to me Michelle and Malia are taking this wounded warrior a bit too much for granted.

Never mind. I know that Sasha gave her daddy lots of hugs and kisses to make it all better.

    Sasha is all heart.

  9. nice photos – glad to see he wasn’t banged up too badly.

Every time I look at pictures of this family, I just can’t reconcile what I see with the hate some people express. It just makes no sense.

Thanks for the pictures and especially for the blog!

  10. I just finished up doing an assignment for my twelve year old grandson. He’s in a Spanish class in which he’s supposed to write a biography of his grandmother. He sent me an email with at least forty questions on it. What a job. Especially since I tend to go on and on about some things, and outlining events, feelings, school experience, houses I lived in — eighty years boiled down to the answers to forty questions! I’m feeling limp.

I’d like to mention that I like the dark background too, and I do think it’s possible to change it in firefox as outlined below if it bothers one’s eyes.

Great photos blackwaterdog, and I’m greatly relieved that the cut has stayed on the whateveryoucallit on the President’s lip rather than slipping over into his skin. I was really surprised that he went out to a basket ball game after that accident (but not too surprised!).

Bless you blackwaterdog for this site and the other ones mentioned. I haven’t looked at the other news at all today; I have more than enough thanks to you.

  11. The prez looks good for 12 stitches. He must have rocked the ice pack & maybe ibuprofen yesterday! Good for him…his family looks great, too.

  12. i just enlarged the font size and now it is working awesomely! i think it was the small font size coupled with the dark that made it hard for me to read. now i’m liking da black!

  13. and only about six stitches are visible, so the others are either inside the lip or internal ones.

that is one nasty cut – to take six stitches to close.

  14. i moved the website to firefox and just enlarged the point size on the font – now it’s easier to read without sacrificing the artistry of the color scheme.

  15. whew! thought it was me! yesterday i thought it was saturday – today i thought it was sunday – who knows WHAT day tomorrow will be!

  16. what is bwd doing posting in san juan time? catching some rays of sunshine thrown by this administration?

    woot!

  17. I agree; was thinking & feeling the same way. I think people are very jealous of the excellent family relationship they enjoy.

  18. Apparently they were mini-stitches. His lip just looks a little crusty; other than that, he looks really good.

  19. Borrowed that first picture to go with the one with him in a cowboy hat. In both, he has a similar look with his eyes.
Sorry to always seem to be the first one to post, but I am 5 hours (for the East Coast) ahead of you all in time and you are all still sleeping. :-) I guess I get the President all to myself until some of you get up.

  20. OK, not a big smile for a while, but it’s inspiring to see the family go out and do what they’d likely been planning to do before the hit in the lip :) It’s also comforting to see the President and family so relaxed-I guess that’s one of his secrets, that he knows how to keep his eye on the prize, to put his mind on what’s in front of him.
And BWD, you always seem to break a story down. These diaries are like watching one of those picture breakdowns of how a film is made, so many little bits to make the whole.

  21. Thanks again BWD. I love seeing pictures of the President and his family. They warm my heart.

Last night, I watched for the umpteenth time, the movie Remember the Titans, with Denzel Washington. Of course the storyline is based around football, but it is all about compromise, building team spirit, and the ability for all to come together. We are all brothers and sisters in a common goal. I so love that movie. My wish for America is that we do just that for our country.

This site, along with propresobama.org, dearmrpres.com, and theobamadiary.com, gives me hope that we can achieve that through respect, understanding and love of our President.

Thank you again BWD for hanging in there with us and sharing your great talent.

  22. Nina,

You reminded me that right after the 2008 election, Alice Walker wrote an open letter to Obama.

Please excuse me for the long quote. But I think it does homage to BWD and what she’s doing here, as well as provide a good reminder to all of us.

I would advise you to remember that you did not create the disaster that the world is experiencing, and you alone are not responsible for bringing the world back to balance. A primary responsibility that you do have, however, is to cultivate happiness in your own life. To make a schedule that permits sufficient time of rest and play with your gorgeous wife and lovely daughters. And so on. One gathers that your family is large. We are used to seeing men in the White House soon become juiceless and as white-haired as the building; we notice their wives and children looking strained and stressed. They soon have smiles so lacking in joy that they remind us of scissors. This is no way to lead. Nor does your family deserve this fate. One way of thinking about all this is: It is so bad now that there is no excuse not to relax. From your happy, relaxed state, you can model real success, which is all that so many people in the world really want. They may buy endless cars and houses and furs and gobble up all the attention and space they can manage, or barely manage, but this is because it is not yet clear to them that success is truly an inside job. That it is within the reach of almost everyone…

Because, finally, it is the soul that must be preserved, if one is to remain a credible leader. All else might be lost; but when the soul dies, the connection to earth, to peoples, to animals, to rivers, to mountain ranges, purple and majestic, also dies. And your smile, with which we watch you do gracious battle with unjust characterizations, distortions and lies, is that expression of healthy self-worth, spirit and soul, that, kept happy and free and relaxed, can find an answering smile in all of us, lighting our way, and brightening the world.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.

  23. What a man. Silly of me to have entertained the notion that he would be hiding away until this cut heals.*slaps self* Jeez this is the man that took the HCR fight, went to the den of the Republican party and schooled them. Such a fighter. I love him.

busted lip and all still so gorgeous, fine as hell, looks better than your favorite model, actor, playboy/playgirl center fold, etc…..:)

  24. Thanks for the letter. Our president has an admirable equanimity and ability to be fully present. When we see him with his family he appears in the moment, loving them fully. When, on occasion, he is distracted, Michelle is there to bring him back. (see the video “Hey!” on Chipsticks’ video diary)

  25. They are led by the nose by the national media into thinking that up is down and down is up. Mass confusion. This is a First Family of, for, and by the people. Those who don’t realize that are very confused IMO…

  27. There you are! What a relief to know the inimitable BWD won’t go quietly at all. I have no hate for DK, I just wish it was more a source of inspiration to work on progressive causes and less of a morass of despondent inactivity. Thanks for taking flight to a new roost, BWD and I am grateful to Kat 4 stepping up to post positive information diaries at DKos and I also look forward to learning more from both of you as you ferret out those information nuggets that just aren’t reported.

  28. Thanks for these pictures of the First Family. Sasha knows how to get to both Mom and Dad. Wrap those arms around them at the same time. This is how I like seeing them enjoying each other. Arnie and his family are also enjoying themselves. That is good to see.Prez still looks great!

  29. This brings tears to my eyes. I think his smile and his realness with his family as well as others – is what makes so many love him and want him to succeed!

  30. I do believe that a lot of people on daily kos are not liberals at all but republicans disguising themselves as progressive. I cannot believe that someone could vote for Obama and now hates him.

  31. They are beating the drum of hate so bad over there. I fear for this presidnet. I pray he stays says.

  32. Talk about family values. These lovely people embody the true meaning of togetherness and wholesomeness.
